Another urban five-star hotel, designed by WATG, has opened its doors. Luxury hotel operator The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. has chosen Bangalore as its first location in India for many reasons. Bangalore is a significant and dynamic economic and cultural hub and the second-fastest growing major metropolis in India, boasting the highest concentration of IT companies in the country, alongside a mix of gardens, museums, temples, and palaces. With its pleasant year-round climate and growing economic base, the operator believes that Bangalore is a strategic destination to Iaunch India’s first Ritz-Carlton hotel. Luxury property developer Nitesh Estates owns the hotel. The luxury hotel has 281 rooms, including one Presidential Suite and 26 executive suites. Guests can enjoy three restaurants; an ultra-luxury spa and a techno gym-equipped fitness centre, a club lounge and an extravagant roof top terrace with panoramic views, and a spectacular open-air hotel pool deck on top of the building.
Located on an L-shaped plot in the heart of the central business district, the 16-storey property also features a helicopter-landing pad on the rooftop.
“The Ritz-Carlton was a remarkable design opportunity to conceive a modern luxurious hotel located in an urban city neighbourhood that exemplifies both the extraordinary past and promising future of Bangalore,” said Bradford McNamee, Senior Vice President at WATG.
Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore, may be the first of its brand in India, but not the first Ritz-Carlton designed by WATG.
Jean Michel-Gathy of Denniston Architects has unveiled his latest design creation, Cheval Blanc Randheli, one of the most anticipated new hotel openings in the Maldives. Cheval Blanc Randheli is an intimate and contemporary 45-villa haven on the unspoiled Noonu Atoll, a 40 minute journey north of Malé, which guests will enjoy in the Maison’s own bespoke seaplane for an exceptional holiday start.
The property offers stylish design and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, in the serene setting of the Maldivian archipelago. Cheval Blanc Randheli provides a setting that caters to guests’ every desire; a sanctuary in which to relax and enjoy a rare and inspired variety of services and facilities. This will be combined with an exceptionally personal service approach, expertly delivered to carefully craft memorable experiences for guests – from couples and honeymooners to families and groups of friends.
The Maison has been conceived in synergy with the island’s natural surroundings, lush vegetation and lagoon views. Contemporary yet indigenous, graceful and understated, it is the perfect balance of modern architecture and traditional inspirations. The flow of the resort creates a residential feel that is full of surprises and variety. An abundance of settings have been designed for guests to use as per their disposition – for relaxation, for contemplation, for invigoration, for conversation or simply to enjoy a stunning view. The property will feature some spectacular dining options, which Jean-Michel admits was a challenge, with the need to create both high-spec and casual restaurants and bars on an island.
Great attention has been given to the privacy of guests and ensuring a feeling of space. This is reflected in the sleek design of each villa. Large glass doors, on both sides of the villa, open fully onto the idyllic landscape or can be closed to create a warm and cosy atmosphere. The sheer volume of space in the buildings and the doors in the villa bedrooms are the aspects the designer believes really have the wow-factor.
The graphic architecture is complemented by stylish interior design furnished with a mix of materials from the Indian Ocean and Europe but with natural textures being the essence – teak, rattan, bamboo, leather, bronze, thatch and coconut and shell. This is in turn enhanced by a vivid palette of colours; white, taupe and oyster grey with splashes of pop yellow and green, bespoke design elements and a residential-style medley of artwork throughout. A collection of 45 sculptural colour “spots” by artist Vincent Beaurin also makes each villa truly individual.

Designed to be one of the most exciting places to drink and dine in London, the hotel’s interiors draw on classic British design and culture so Dernier & Hamlyn, which has been manufacturing bespoke lighting in London since 1888, was the natural choice, for this stylish project.
The bar features Dernier & Hamlyn crafted globe chandeliers, some 2m high that have been hand finished with a stunning verdigris effect. They are complemented by lamps with bronze bases and opal glass shades that add a further dimension to the wooden bar that runs the length of this convivial room.
Oval pendants are currently being made at Dernier & Hamlyn’s London factory and will be installed in the hotel’s Hoborn Dining Room which has also been designed by Martin Brudnizki and is due to open in Spring 2014.

Exclusive new waterside penthouses boasting glorious views of Northern England’s largest inland marina will be welcoming their first guests from January 2014. Part of a £3.5million investment in Windermere Marina Village, the newly unveiled properties are nestled in the heart of the Lake District National Park on a quiet inlet just off England’s longest lake. The thirteen individually-styled properties, which suit groups of between two and ten people, are now taking bookings for the New Year. All have spacious, southerly-facing balconies or terraces looking out across the marina. So, as well as enjoying a light airy outlook, guests can watch a unique selection of luxury yachts and sports boats gently glide across the water against an iconic Lakeland backdrop.
The shining star of the new development is an impressive 2,250sq foot penthouse, which comes complete with an additional 1,000sq foot den / games room on the top floor. To give all the properties added personality, they’ve been carefully styled around three themes: funky’, ‘contemporary’ and ‘traditional’. The décor in each strikes a balance between relaxed luxury and practical home comforts, with plush interiors and the highest quality fixture and fittings – sourced locally wherever possible. Take the sleek kitchen worktops, which are made from Broughton Moor Slate, natural stone laid down in the Lakes 450 million years ago.
That means there are plenty of options to suit couples and small groups, as well as catering for the emerging trend of extended family and groups of friends coming away together.
Each new apartment has its own parking space, and guests can also enjoy complimentary use of the nearby Old England Leisure Club for the ultimate in pampering and relaxation. Windermere Marina Village has previously invested £3million in modernising its existing 54 lakeside self-catering cottages and apartments to four star standards. Unlike the majority of self-catering properties, the Marina offers the flexibility for guests to choose two night weekend stays, instead of the traditional three. Alternatively they can opt for four-day mid-week breaks or full week getaways.
Holidaymakers don’t have to own a boat to stay or visit the Marina, but with 400 moorings providing a safe and secure environment for motor cruisers and sailing boats all year round, it’s an ideal destination for the nautically-minded. The Marina can accommodate sports boats, leisure cruisers and yachts up to a maximum length of 50 feet and maximum draft of 3’ 6.
Marriott International, Inc. has recently said it has signed a letter of intent with Protea Hospitality Holdings of Cape Town, South Africa to acquire Protea Hotels’ brands and its management business that operates or franchises 116 hotels across three brands with 10,184 rooms in South Africa and six other Sub-Saharan African countries. The transaction would nearly double Marriott’s distribution in Africa to more than 23,000 rooms, and would also provide Marriott with a proven operational platform and leadership team to accelerate Marriott’s expansion plans and solidify its leadership position in the dynamic and growing African hotel market. Protea Hotels, founded in 1984, manages, franchises and leases hotels across the Protea Hotels brand (104 hotels), comprising a full and diverse range of outstanding hotels and resorts; the award-winning lifestyle boutique Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! brand (2 hotels); and the superior deluxe African Pride Hotels collection (10 hotels). In addition to its industry-leading 80 hotels in South Africa, Protea Hotels has a significant presence in Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria,Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
As part of the transaction, Protea Hospitality Holdings would create a property ownership company to retain ownership of the hotels it currently owns (and enter into long-term management and lease agreements with Marriott for these hotels). It would also retain a number of minority interests in other Protea managed hotels. At closing Marriott would manage approximately 46 percent of the rooms, franchise approximately 40 percent of the rooms, and lease approximately 14 percent of the rooms.
Arne Sorenson, president and chief executive officer of Marriott International, said, “Africa has significant untapped potential for travel and tourism, both as a destination and source of new global travellers. The continent’s GDP is anticipated to grow at over five percent annually over the next several years which we expect will raise more people into the emerging middle class. With the Protea Hotels acquisition, our expanded footprint should allow us to become the first choice of Africa’s rapidly growing population of young, sophisticated travelers, and drive loyalty to our Marriott Rewards program both within Africa and globally. Protea Hotels enjoys unparalleled brand recognition in Africa, and our combined portfolio of Protea Hotels and current Marriott International brands would create a platform for accelerated growth and new job growth in South Africa and across the continent.”
Alex Kyriakidis, president of Marriott International for the Middle East and Africa, said, “The development cycle for opening new hotels in Africa is typically long due to the challenges posed by emerging infrastructure, so joining forces with Protea Hotels and their highly respected management team is the strongest way to jumpstart Marriott’s footprint in Africa. The Marriott Middle East and Africa management team can deliver value and greater growth for Protea’s hotel owners by leveraging these terrific brands, represented by 116 hotels and more than 10,000 rooms in seven countries, with Marriott’s global sales, marketing and development infrastructure. We believe this would also result in more job creation in South Africa and across the continent.”
Arthur Gillis, chief executive officer of Protea Hospitality Group, said “Protea Hotels has grown organically to become the largest and leading hotel group in Sub-Saharan Africa. Aligning with a global giant such as Marriott ensures we can realise the Group’s full potential for all of our stakeholders. In Marriott we have found a perfect fit across culture, values and commitment to industry leadership which will ensure that we remain at the forefront of African hospitality.”
The otherwise non-binding letter of intent includes provisions that the parties will negotiate exclusively with each other. The transaction is subject to completion of due diligence, negotiation and execution of definitive documents, receipt of customary third party and governmental consents and approvals and satisfaction of other customary conditions for transactions of this kind that the parties expect will be included in the definitive transaction documents.
The proposed terms of the transaction are not being disclosed at this time. The parties stated that they plan to sign definitive agreements by year-end 2013 and the transaction could close in the first three months of 2014. In any event, Marriott does not expect the transaction would have a material impact on its 2014 results.

Not content with cementing its position as one of the fastest growing budget hotel brands in the UK, earlier this year Travelodge embarked on a £57m refurbishment across the estate to be carried out in just 18 months. The refurbishment programme is set to transform the look and feel of more than 30,000 rooms as part of a wider company investment to further grow the business and strengthen the Travelodge brand.Along with changes to the restaurants and public areas, a key part of the refit is a brand new guestroom created by Travelodge customers following an extensive research project. The in- house design team led by Francis Whitley were tasked with creating a stylish, relaxing and functional environment and a customised version of the Chelsom ‘discus’ desk light was commissioned as part of the interior scheme. Finished in soft white for a clean contemporary look, the shallow curved weighted base and integrated rocker switch of the standard ‘discus’ fitting have been replaced with a flat circular alternative featuring an inline switch located on the cable. The base shape is mirrored in the stamped flat cylindrical head which contains a fluorescent GU 10 lamp providing excellent light level sustainability and efficiency.
Chelsom has worked closely with the Travelodge design team from the outset to value engineer the standard version of the product to ensure it met the exacting design requirements and budget limitations involved without compromising the overall design aesthetic. Given the scale of the refurbishment and limited time frame in which it is to be completed, the logistical practicalities are critical and all product has been stocked at Chelsom’s warehouse in Lancashire to maximise efficiency of despatch and help regulate stock control for the duration.
Company Director, Will Chelsom said: “Travelodge is without question one of the UK’s most recognisable hotel brands and to be associated with such an extensive refurbishment programme is a great opportunity and one which reflects the scope of work we can and do deliver. The sheer scale of the refit means that it certainly isn’t without its challenges, the logistics involved in order to deliver such large volumes of product on time are instrumental to its success especially given the ambitious 18 month project window. It’s testament to Chelsom that we are able to maintain such high quality levels whilst achieving the competitive price points required on such a large scale project”.

Client brief: With the arrival of new hotel operators into the local market, myhotel is ambitious to remain at the forefront of hospitality service in Brighton & Hove. As part of the hotel’s ongoing strategic business review certain aspects of the hotel building and its infrastructure have been targeted for updating and improvement. The brief required the addition of circa 15 no hotel room keys & the conversion of the basement car-park into a hospitality venue that complimented the F&B offers currently provided within the hotel. Overall it is anticipated that the extension and conversion works will add a possible further 20 jobs across the hotel and its associated retail partners: myhotel, Merkaba, Chilli Pickle, Small Batch Coffee and a new restaurant operator (TBC).Challenges & Inspiration: The hotel was constructed in 2006 as part of the hugely successful North Laine Jubilee Street development alongside the award winning Jubilee Library. As a relatively new building the council’s planning department were resistant to the argument that the proposed extensions were necessary. The case was made that certain aspects of the building were left unresolved and the proposals sought to tidy these up at the same time as creating additional volume that the hotel was seeking. The new vista of the hotel from New Road will dramatically improve the aspect of this important cross roads by the Dome Theatre. The conversion of the basement car-park provides the hotel with an exciting opportunity to create a new new large restaurant or music venue, the eventual operator has yet to be confirmed, with the North Laine being the rising star of the Brighton retail scene there are no shortage of national and local operators chomping at the bit to take it on.
Furniture/ Lighting/ Materials North elevation – Living wall by Bio-tecture. South extension – Flint wall cladding – a local material reinvented; curtain walling to match existing East extension – Self coloured render to match existing, glazing to match existing Penthouse – Louvre cladding, frameless glazing

When I was in Hamburg to create the Review of Accor’s Sofitel the adjacent Steigenberger was pointed out to me as belonging to the brand that was the leading German five star hotel group. It was described as an old fashioned Sleeping Beauty waiting awakening. Steigenberger found their prince in Puneet Chhatwal, one of Kurt Ritter’s so successful team who drove the expansion of SAS Hotels through various liaisons of increasing passion and intensity until consummated with US suitor Carlson. Taking a dozen 1990’s SAS Hotels through Radisson into Rezidor now to the full embrace of Carlson, Ritter fell a little short of his self – proclaimed target of 700 hotels by the end of 2012, but he came damn close, and instrumental in realising his targets as his Director of Development from 1998 was Puneet Chhatwal. Chhatwal speaks fondly of Ritter, who he still sees on a regular basis. The whirlwind development of the group is not on the cards for Steigenberger though, he says. Steigenberger is a part of the group of hotels which includes 35 Intercity Hotels and 3 cruise vessels operating on the Nile and Nasser Sea. The 49 individual luxury hotels that are the Steigenberger’s face change, but defined by Chhatwal as defining themselves around those parameters that epitomise German engineering vis-a-vis BMW and Mercedes – quality, leadership, reliability. Steigenberger will be a purely management group, and will remain German based. However as it has a former finance director of Thomas Cook on the board I would expect to see major overseas expansion from their German homeland.
Whilst staying German based the group will seek to keep the best of German qualities whilst developing an international character. Chhatwal will look to the international design community much as Rezidor did, remembering with affection Joseph Ransley of the now alas defunct Ransley Associates (see NH Brussels as an example of his work, one of my very early Reviews) but also speaking well of Peter Joehnk of the eponymous Frankfurt JOI interior design practice.
There are ten or so Steigenberger’s that Chhatwal sees as the equivalent within the group of the Mercedes ‘S’ class within the car groups portfolio, and is grappling with how to differentiate them. Rezidor always in my view had a problem differentiating the Missoni and Regent brands as up-market brands within their portfolio and never really got their minds around the issues of this up-market differentiation, indeed I don’t think Radisson management grasp 5 star. Chhatwal has identified this as an issue to be resolved in Steigenberger and it will be interesting to watch the group development to see how he applies his solutions.
Like Sternlicht did when in charge of Starwoods in growing the ‘W’ brand out of Westin, Chhatwal sees an opportunity in the differentiation, but, as he says “it is a different world from when Sternlicht did ‘W’”. Agreed but that is the nature of opportunity and as we come out of recession and look ahead to a possible six years of growth, now is the time to be doing it.
I will watch with interest how Chhatwal addresses the issues, develops design identities and moves the group ahead. The first of the new and refurbished hotels competed on his watch have now been completed and I am off to Dusseldorf to see the refurbished Steigenberger Park in my first look at the new iteration of the brand. Watch this space…

“Its prime location on Düsseldorf’s glamorous grand boulevard, the ‘Königsallee’, directly opposite to the so-called “Kö-Bogen” underlines the individuality and exclusiveness of the object, and we are very proud that it shines in new splendour now”, Chhatwal adds.

The design also brings to life the energy of the alpine sporting world, whose presence is so strongly felt in Verbier, with the interiors allowing guests to carve their own trail of experiences through the hotel.
“For the first W alpine retreat, we wanted to provide guests with an unforgettable experience using interiors that complement the breathtaking scenery surrounding the hotel”, said Rob Wagemans, founder and creative director, Concrete Architectural Associates. “Our design introduces smooth lines that carve through the spaces with contrasting materials reflecting the simplicity, beauty and energy of Verbier and the contemporary cool of New York”.

Cosy fireplaces will appear throughout the public spaces and will be a key feature in each of the hotel’s 123 stylish guest rooms and suites, including one Extreme WOW Suite (W’s interpretation of the Presidential Suite). Woven axminster carpets from Wilton Carpets Commercial now create a homely feel for patrons, cleverly breaking up the large open floorplan of The Old Ball pizza kitchen and bar in Horsforth, Leeds for The Orchid Pub Group.Selected by Rob Matthews of design practice Matthews Mee Ltd for its track record of delivering beautiful traditionally-influenced carpets, Wilton Carpets Commercial has provided some 200 square metres of bespoke eight-row axminster broadloom carpet throughout the bar and restaurant area. Utilising the company’s Optimum colour palette, which includes vibrant jewel tones mixed with inviting neutrals, the carpets provide the destination with a floor that evokes a feeling of warmth and familiarity.
“When considering the design of open-plan interiors, we take a ‘rooms within a room’ approach to combat an institutional or overtly cold atmosphere that is an inherent problem in large interiors such as The Old Ball, explains Rob Matthews of Matthews Mee Ltd. “It is a trick that many of us will be unknowingly familiar with, because if you’ve ever sat in a ‘snug’, this is the exact same concept used by traditional public houses for many years.
“There are several methods we use to achieve this, but we always start with the flooring as it has a huge impact on the feel of a particular space. Working closely with Wilton’s design team, we created two designs; an oversize paisley style and a fleur-de-lys inspired pattern, using the Optimum palette to give a contemporary edge. At first the designs appear traditional, giving the floor that all-important feeling of warmth, but they are also perfectly coordinated with other elements in each space. The result is one of individuality in each area or ‘room’, but with an aesthetic that remains balanced throughout the entire open-plan layout. The finished interior has met our client’s brief of an inviting, familiar and homely place to dine and relax for its patrons.”
Manufactured at Wilton’s Wiltshire facility, the bespoke broadloom carpet was produced in a high performance eight-row 80% wool, 20% nylon construction for wear resistance and appearance retention, helping the carpet to perform in a modern and busy hospitality environment. Using Wilton Carpets Commercial’s Optimum colour palette, Matthews Mee Design was able to facilitate a 28-day turnaround bespoke carpet, while retaining the creative flexibility of 12 individual colours.

Europe’s most impressive and innovative new spa will open in spring 2014 at Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa, Baden-Baden – the flagship property of the Oetker Collection. The new spa, housed in the historic Villa Stéphanie adjacent to the existing hotel, will offer an integrated approach to health combining beauty, wellbeing and medical needs. The new ultra deluxe extension to Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa will focus on four distinct areas combining beauty, detox, emotional and medical care.Over the last two years, Brenners has embarked on a project to create Europe’s most refined spa concept for the 21st century. Villa Stéphanie is made up over five floors and will comprise a 500 sqm sauna, kneipping baths, plunge pool for recovery, private fitness center, physio and spinal treatments, hammam, Ladies Spa, private park and sunken garden. Villa Stéphanie also will be connected to ‘Haus Julius’, a 1700 sq metre property dedicated solely to Brenners Medical Care. The twelve oversized double rooms and three impressive corner suites are designed for guests who wish to remain in this unique and timeless atmosphere for an even more intense spa experience.
“Brenners is one of the founders of the Spa movement in Europe and we have carried the name ‘Spa’ in our name since 1983. With over 30 years of experience, we feel it is the right time to bring the subject to a completely new level. Addressing the character of a big private house, we will create a highly individualized approach to health and wellbeing” says Frank Marrenbach, Managing Director Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa and CEO Oetker Collection.
Villa Stéphanie will be designed in an elegant and contemporary style by Bergit Countess Douglas, who is also responsible for the continuous refurbishment of Brenners for over the past 25 years. The overall concept is to create a homely atmosphere in elegant surroundings. ‘Le Salon’, will feature an impressive library, and as an ‘encore’ a beautiful private terrace facing the Brenner’s park.
Originally erected in 1890, Villa Stéphanie was created as a residence for royalty. It bears witness to a woman whose name still stands over the house like a guiding star: Stéphanie de Beauharnais, Grand Duchess of Baden and adoptive daughter of Napoleon I. The history of this building is just one aspect of the 2000 year heritage of the spa town of Baden-Baden. Known for centuries as ‘Europe’s summer capital’, this is where royalty came to take the waters for months at a time to ensure good health. Located in the foothills of the Black Forest, the town is also famous for its opera house, parks and gardens including the world famous ‘Lichtentaler Allee’ – where both Brenners-Park and Villa Stéphanie are located.
“The design of Villa Stéphanie will be seeped in history. The colours will be fresh, the room furnishings distinct, the wooden panelling light, the atmosphere young and the art modern. In terms of quality, the furnishings will be consistent with the standards set by Brenners Park-Hotel, yet the atmosphere of the spa will be one step more contemporary” comments Countess Douglas.
Connected to Villa Stéphanie, ‘Haus Julius’ will offer a variety of services from some of Germany’s top experts including dermatology, gynaecology, ophthalmology, multi-functional dentistry, a laboratory, GP, cardiology, psychology, physiotherapy and nutritional coaching. The medical partners will work closely with top national practices to assure after care and recuperation as well as health check-ups for those guests who seek to maintain optimal wellbeing.
With the promise to bestow an overall experience on guests’ needs, a private host with a strong medical and spa background will be allocated upon arrival to guests. Comparable to a private home, the host will remain the one and only person of contact throughout a stay at Villa Stéphanie ensuring simplicity and continuity to the experience. Frank Marrenbach: “For all those who devote all their energy to their families and businesses all year round, Villa Stéphanie represents a place to regain strengths, focus and health to master their demanding lives even better”.

Opening for Easter 2014, Hotel Son Ametler offers a luxurious and tranquil holiday experience at the base of Majorca’s Tramuntana Mountains. Recently restored for deluxe farm stays, it’s an elegant and friendly hotel on 25,000 square metres of private guest space and just 35 minutes from Palma Airport.Hotel Son Ametler is the second deluxe “Agroturismo” retreat of British / Italian couple James Hiscock and Paola Cassini. Their first rural retreat, Finca Es Castell, was recently voted Majorca’s best hotel by ReviewPro’s Global Index and it consistently ranks as a favourite hotel in Majorca on TripAdvisor.com .
Nestled in private almond and olive orchards, Hotel Son Ametler perfectly blends rustic relaxation with attentive luxury. In the eight renovated double rooms, comforts include jacuzzi baths, Italian stucco bathrooms, air-conditioning and walk-in power showers. Organic toiletries, velvety towels and memory foam beds make relaxing a breeze. Guests can connect to free high-speed wifi, or switch off and relax.
Hotelier James Hiscock says, “We are extremely proud to present Son Ametler. It’s a hidden Majorcan gem. Our guests can relax, eat, drink, explore and recharge, in a converted 18th century farmhouse, where the only sounds are cicadas and sheep bells. This is a boutique style hotel without the boutique attitude”. Bookings for short and long stays during summer 2014 have commenced. Whilst the area is popular for rural stays, beaches like Pollenca and Alducia are only 20 and Palma just 35 minutes away.
The property’s farm provides ingredients for tasty and fresh local dishes. With a top-notch breakfast buffet, light lunches and ‘a la carte’ dinners, Son Ametler brings an authentic flavour to hotel cuisine. A full-service night bar awaits and daytime sippers will love the relaxed “country house” honesty bar atmosphere. A huge swimming pool and private terrace overlook mountains and fields in full privacy.
With ongoing economic challenges impacting Spanish tourism, rural hideaways like this continue to be popular with British guests. The creation of Hotel Son Ametler is a boutique expansion by their Owners. “Living here’s a dream. Spain’s economy has huge potential. With the success of Finca Es Castell and our loyal guests, we’re confident that Son Ametler will also impress”, says James Hiscock.

Europe’s leading hospitality design show is less than a month away and is promising an impressive array of product innovations from new and established exhibitors alike. This year’s Sleep exhibition, which is free to attend for all delegates including those attending the conference who pre-register on-line, includes a raft of stand-out features introduced for the first time, and is sure to be packed with ideas and inspiration aplenty for architects and designers, specifiers, hotel operators, owners and developers attending from across the globe.A particularly exciting new addition to the exhibition is Tech Hub, a platform profiling the cutting-edge technology companies whose products and services are transforming the hotel experience. Boxbuild, the driving force behind Bloc Hotels, in collaboration with Sky and Samsung, will be demonstrating how smartphone and tablet technology can be used by guests to effortlessly book, check-in and control their in-room environment.
Sleep sets out to attract fresh content each year to ensure it represents the newest perspectives in the world of hotel design. This year almost a third of the participating companies will be showcasing their products and services for the first time at Sleep, with many from the United States and Hong Kong as well as across Europe.
Leading the field with hi-tech advances in hotel bathroom design will be some of the industry’s finest suppliers launching new products designed to enhance functionality and, ultimately, the guest experience.
This year also sees the introduction of Newcomers Gallery, a platform highlighting emerging companies at the forefront of contemporary design.
For several years now, Sleep has been recognised as the event where business is done, contacts are made and orders placed. This year, there will be the chance to do this party-style. A late night opening, until 8pm on 20th November, will give visitors the chance to take in the show and enjoy a complimentary drink or two while Michaelangelo L’Acqua, CEO and Chief Creative Officer, Soniq, and Global Music Director at W Hotels Group, performs a live DJ set from 6-8pm on the slickly designed Evoni DJ table in the main exhibition hall.
On the same evening, the winner of Sleep Hotel will be announced at 7pm. The competition to create concept room sets has now been joined by a sixth contestant in the stellar line-up: Infinite Architecture, a young practice based in the UAE, and their partners Cullinan Interior. A much-anticipated highlight of the Sleep Hotel rooms will be the opportunity to see how Purpose Design is exploring 3-D printing in its room set.
Also on display will be a gallery of the winners of the European Hotel Design Awards, revealed at the awards dinner on Tuesday 19th November, at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London.
Please see the Sleep website for a comprehensive list of exhibitors and their latest product news as well as information on the conference that runs alongside the show.
Timeless luxury arrived in Almaty, Kazakhstan when The Ritz-Carlton opened its first hotel in the country. The most highly anticipated hotel in Central Asia was unveiled by The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. and international real estate developer Capital Partners. The new 145-room luxury hotel offers unsurpassed levels of elegance and is the latest collaboration between Capital Partners and The Ritz-Carlton, following their successful partnership with The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow.
The hotel sits atop the 37 storey Esentai Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Central Asia. With Club and Suite accommodations and more than 10,000 square feet of meeting facilities, it is part of the Capital Partners’ Esentai Park development, which also includes an extensive shopping mall and residential complexes.
A Design Strategy is concerned with how the interior design of an Hotel can meet the hoteliers’ objectives of marketing, business, branding and organisation. The ways in which it can do this are many, and range from the clever use of space planning that may require less staff on duty through the careful use of colour to re-enforce branding to developing an easily recognisable scheme that promotes customer loyalty, as with the Park Inn brand. It seems to the writers that the ROI on design could be as much as 30% a year from bedroom refurbishment alone, as our ROI calculator shows. It is obvious that the ROI on all aspects of the operation are looked at and the necessity of refurbishment and keeping a property looking good can often conceal the fact that this also generates a good ROI. That this is a necessity is unquestioned as this recent statement from Barclays Corporate illustrates. Meanwhile design groups promote to hoteliers the contribution of design to profitability and the necessity of it is relayed from hoteliers to shareholders. Is this done by faith, hope, experience or is it just habit?
The high level of finance and procurement organised for many projects would certainly indicate that both the investors and the design consultants involved in the project must have a keen belief in the financial return gained from the project. In projects run in the 1980’s by the Forte project office, designers would find attached to their brief a formula for them to work out the percentage return from an increased room rate earned through the refurbishment.
This was a salutary reminder to the designer of the need to stay within budget as well as a clear indicator that the Forte family were well aware of the need to calculate an ROI on design costs. Interestingly the Forte family are currently developing hotels at the higher end of the market, promoting the Rocco Forte chain as the most luxurious chain in Europe. Obviously there is no doubt here of the ROI from a high design product.
Generally, however, there seems to be an absence of facts, and the subject appears rather woolly. There is often only the simplest acknowledgement toward it in design terms. There are many articles and reports on ROI that report and track the overall profit of a brand or property, but how much of this is able to be pinpointed as coming from design and not, say, from a media advertising campaign, or the introduction of new technology to meeting rooms?
Whilst hotels do leave out comments cards, one wonders how much guests actually use these. Are they used to make complaints that guests don’t feel able to level face to face in reception? Are they left in cardboard boxes in the general office without analysis? Very few hoteliers survey customers about specifics concerning the design of the hotel, so is the only feedback related to the design of the hotel gleaned from Tripadvisor reviews or trade magazines like HotelDesigns?
One of Birmingham’s greenest venues is celebrating today after maintaining a British Standard accolade for their environmental credentials.Conference Aston, Birmingham city centre’s premier conference, hotel and event venue, has had its ISO14001 accreditation reaffirmed following the refurbishment of 53 bedrooms as part of a £5.4m redevelopment of the Aston University site.
The bedrooms, which are now all of 4* equivalent quality as a minimum, were the final phase of the 163 rooms on site to be refurbished. As part of the renovation, the remaining rooms have been fitted with a wide range of environmentally-friendly appliances, including the use of thermostatic mixing valves to control water temperature, LED and energy saving lighting, split flushing toilets and facilities for easier recycling.
All paper, plastic and battery waste is to be recycled once rooms are cleaned, whilst the donation of old furniture to a variety of organisations in the region is an initiative that will continue. So far, beneficiaries have included Hillcrest school; Age Concern, 1st Sheldon Scout Group; Inter-Action MK; Child Education Development and Empowerment (CEDE) trust fund and the EFA Foundation.
Lucy Talbot, director at Conference Aston, said: “Conference Aston was the first academic venue in the UK to be given this rating and our green credentials are something that we take very seriously, so we are very proud to have retained our British Standard rating for our environmental management systems.
“When we were looking at the refurbishment of the bedrooms, it was imperative that whilst we raised the quality of the rooms, we didn’t forget that they needed to be energy efficient too. It’s been a tough balancing act, but one we feel is very worthwhile.
“For example, we have reduced the amount of water that our showers use per minute by five litres, but have not compromised the quality of the shower which is a key requirement for any hotel user.
“Things such as the removal of bottled water from bedrooms to decrease plastic waste have been offset by the installation of water coolers on bedroom landings. These steps may not seem like big deals, but when factored in to the grand scheme of things, it can make a real difference.”

Bringing a Grade II* listed building into public use for the first time in more than 200 years, the Serpentine Sackler Gallery in central London is now open to the public, with Roca bathroom solutions being a feature of its washrooms.Giving new life to The Magazine, a former gunpowder store built in 1805, the Serpentine Sackler Gallery is situated just five minutes’ walk from the Serpentine Gallery. Featuring 900 square metres of gallery space, shop, restaurant and social space, the Serpentine’s second space in Kensington Gardens is designed by the multi award-winning Zaha Hadid Architects.
Restored to an extremely high standard in partnership with The Royal Parks, the Serpentine Sackler Gallery continues the relationship between the Gallery and Zaha Hadid Architects, which began with the inaugural Serpentine Gallery Pavilion Commission in 2000.
This is also not the first time that the Roca Group has been involved with a Zaha Hadid project, with its Chelsea Design Quarter-based, and much-acclaimed, Roca London Gallery also bearing her design. For the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, Roca products were donated as part of the manufacturer’s long-held commitment to supporting cultural and community projects.
Roca’s Meridian-N sanitaryware was chosen to fulfill this most demanding of briefs. Inspired by functionality and geometry, Meridian-N is a fusion of classic and modern design cues, in much the same way as the Serpentine Sackler Gallery itself, being a contemporary renovation and extension of a building that is steeped in British history. The new washrooms feature Meridian-N back-to-wall WCs with soft-close seats, along with co-ordinating compact washbasins.
Overcoming issues of space with its compact design, Roca’s Meridian-N also responds to the demands of modern-day living. The range’s WC cisterns feature an efficient 4.5/3-litre water capacity, helping the Gallery minimise its negative impact on the environment and reduce its running costs.
UK shower manufacturer and designer, Roman Limited, have been shortlisted for two prestigious products awards over the last few weeks, with the winners of both to be announced later this month. The manufacturer’s newly launched Decem Collection of luxury 10mm thick glass Shower Enclosures has been shortlisted as Product of the Year at the Northern Design Awards, which take place in Manchester on the 22nd November.
Also shortlisted for Plumbing Product of the year, at the Build It awards, is their Roman Shield Complete Tanking Kit, which offers a quick and easy way to install a water-tight wetroom. The Kit has been shortlisted alongside two other products and the winner will be revealed on the 21st November.
Roman’s Complete Tanking Kit is no strange to awards and has previously been the recipient of two other product awards, including the Homebuilding and Renovating Bathroom Product of the Year and the Kitchen’s, Bedrooms and Bathrooms Reader’s Choice Award for Best Bathroom Product.
The Decem Collection, which is manufactured at Roman’s UK headquarters in County Durham, was launched in August this year and so far the feedback from Roman’s customers has been fantastic, with displays quickly being established UK-wide. The bespoke-ability of the range has also stimulated much interest from the contract market, with products being created over-height up to 2700mm now being a possibility.
The Decem Range incorporates a selection of Hinged Door Enclosures, Wetroom Panels and a power shower approved designer Bath Screen. Uniquely the range offers a series of design options, allowing end users to pick between curved or square hardware, there is optional bracing supplied as standard and the Wetroom Panels offer a choice of concealed or standard profiles, with an optional return panel.
The Company has also previously won a Northern Design Award for their Sculptures Range of enclosures.
David Osborne, Managing Director at Roman, commented: “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for two totally different product awards within such a short-space of time. The Build It Awards highlight products which are practical and easy to use, to make the installer’s life simple; whereas the Northern Design Awards focus on innovative and stunning product design. We are delighted to see that our product range fits into both of these briefs.
“We are particularly excited about the recognition of our new Decem Range for the Northern Design Awards – this is a range we have carefully developed and nurtured; that we have not only designed, but that we have also expertly manufactured right here in the UK. It’s great to see recognition from an awarding body going to a British manufacturer, highlighting home-grown talent. This range is a culmination of everything we have learnt about showering over the last 28 years, so to have been shortlisted for an award in these early stages after launch is fantastic. We’re looking forward to hearing the results later this month.”

The Tobaco Hotel is located in the centre of Łódź among historic tenement houses and old factory buildings. Karol Kretschmer had operated a wool textile factory there since 1895 and in 1932, the National Cigarette Factory opened on the former textile factory premises. Nowadays, the whole building complex has been modernised and adapted to housing and hotel purposes. The hotel’s interior has been designed by the “EC-5” studio and reflects the spirit of the 50s and 60s. The dominant colours, both in hotel rooms and communal areas, are steel grey and vivid blue, violet and green. The yellow colour constitutes the leitmotiv of the whole complex, appearing in the corporate identity and in the decoration. Many interior furnishings, as well as most furniture, have been made of walnut veneer, the finishing of which is high gloss and matt. Dark and vivid colours have been confronted with white walls, floor and window decoration. Thanks to this technique, the effect of bright and spacious interiors has been achieved.

Budget hotels have flourished in recession. Not only will business people trade down, but the ‘bang per buck’ element has become exaggerated as new budget hotels continue to come on stream whilst established hotels postpone refurbishment, waiting to see revenues grow again. Indeed many poor four stars, used to competing with similar establishments through price and the service they offer have become victims of this policy on both fronts. As an hotelier said, “when you drop your price it is akin to dropping your knickers to be popular – once down it is very difficult to get them up again”. Not only is raising prices again difficult but the level of service provided by budget chains like Premier inn, Campanile or Ibis has improved, in part due to ‘facilities creep’ and in part in response to their growing popularity and changing customer profile.
The Ibis Brighton City Centre is a prime example of this change. The new hotel has, says manager Dominic Sauls, been the subject of intense scrutiny by Brighton’s 4 star hotels and has already resulted in at least one bringing forward a refurbishment programme by two years. Brighton hotels are notorious for being shabby, and their financial management has been poor. After the previous recession one chain put 14 hotels on the market, including Brighton hotels, as too far gone to be refurbished (see the transformation on one wrought by new owners in Basingstoke’s Apollo) and after this latest collapse by the economy it is the Grand on Brighton’s seafront, badly served over the years by its owners, that has been put on the sale block.
The replacement of a somewhat seedy casino by the station with the new build Ibis was an opportunity that has been seized with vigour. Whilst the bedroom format (of which more later) is Ibis standard the ground floor public areas are not only proving a successful functioning design, but the operational management is also infusing them with some touches of the eccentricity that has characterised bawdy Brighton since the Prince Regent’s day.
The location is a fifteen minute walk from the sea front but only a few strides from the magnificent glass roofed terminus that is Brighton station. Behind the hotel is the thriving arts and crafts driven area that the North Laines has become, its workers terraced houses and small shops creating a different kind of community to that of the older original Lanes and Georgian terraces and squares of the Brighton along the sea front. Brighton is a University town with a very large student population (the editor did his postgraduate studies here in the old art college) and the colleges drive occupancy along with the business community, as parents come to check up on or bail out their offspring studying here.
The major innovation for the Ibis branding is the introduction of an all-day bistro. Starting with the presentation of the full ‘English’ at breakfast as well as offering food and coffee all day alongside a bar service. This follows other of the budget brands in growing a food offering in addition to their previously bed only offer. This ‘facilities creep’ is the traditional slide up market and other hotels such as Yotel, Tune or Bloc hotels will slide in underneath by offering just a bedroom without any trimmings. Travelodge started a budget revolution in the UK by tacking bedrooms on to a chain of roadside eateries, the Happy Eaters, and Premier Inn separately grew out of Whitbread’s beer and food enterprises so it is not surprising to see other chains developing food services too.
The Ibis in Brighton uses technology to enhance both the service and the guest experience. Electronic keys guard lift access, and electronic signage at reception allows management to tune and alter, for example, rate information almost at will. Thus if there is plenty of space rooms can be discounted but once break even has been reached prices can be altered, much as airlines make discount seat sales of a few seats on the plane and sell the rest at an increased and full fare mark-up.
The bistro area is simple and functional and despite its higher rate over surrounding ‘greasy spoon’ restaurants, it is also popular. In part this is due to the endless coffee supply and decnet food. The bar too was busy during my stay. Design of both areas enables service and cleaning to be done simply and easily by few staff, and the colour is bright and cheerful, using the ibis ‘house red’ colouring. Roller shutters conceal coffee machines etc, whilst the bar is a simple extension of the reception counter.
Individual style touches relieve the strict functionality and the use of colour breaks up the space. There are small idiosyncratically designed stool at the bar tables for example, whilst large candle holders light the entrance door lobby. Local art is also being introduced in this area to further help both links with the surrounding community and the individuality of the unit.
Bedrooms are always the most important area of an hotel, unless you are a party spot, where guests don’t so much sleep as collapse unconscious. The Ibis chain has recognised the competition for a good bed and has invested in new ‘Sweet Bed’ beds with thick comfort enhancing mattress toppers on each. The rooms are effectively soundproofed (except when some muppet doesn’t quite shut the window properly) so a good nights sleep is part of the experience although the chain stops short of the guarantee offered by Premier Inn. Premier Inn boasts it has the best beds (by Directory company Hypnos, the Queens bed makers) but the new beds at Ibis seem to be a match for them.
Room design amongst budget hotels has always been pared down to offer all the facilities needed by a guest for as small an installation cost as possible. Preformed units including podded bathrooms, take advantage of offsite manufacture and are just dropped into place. However here the chain has a number of rooms with a bathroom that is a site build, and they are larger than the standard podded unit. So much so that a four star chain providing shower rooms only will find itself with a cheaper competitor at a lower star rating offering a bathroom as good as theirs. In my view the bathroom is an area where competitive edge is being thrown away by hotel developers seeking ever cheaper installations.
If the top luxury hotels are increasingly moving to his and her bathrooms in their offering why do mid-range operators think they can get away with shower only? It is this blindness to the preference of families and the 30% of guest surveyed who state categorically a preference for a bath that should enable four star hotels to differentiate themselves from the budget competition. When even in the budget market hotel groups offer baths as well as showers then the mid -range hotels in competing not just on service but on price too. The star rating authorities (an increasing irrelevance to hotels) are also ensnared in this web by approving five star hotels with shower only offerings.
It is not surprising in this scenario that the manager here has seen executives from his local competition checking out the offer. With a good location and a product that is markedly improved, as HotelDesigns saw in the Accor Blackfriars new builds, this Ibis poses a significant challenge as a new entrant into the Brighton hotel scene.

Morgan, the British designer and manufacturer of original contract furniture, is investing in design, improving production facilities and exploring new media in order to grow the business and take its success story to the next level.Led by Design Director, Katerina Zachariades, the Morgan Design Team has been growing in number and in stature, with four Design Guild Marks to its name in the past four years. The latest appointment of new designer, Ruth Phillips, increases the team to six and serves to both enhance and increase its output. More frequent product launches, more bespoke solutions and designs that are thoroughly resolved as part of the integrated lean manufacturing process at the Hampshire factory are all benefits of this continuous investment. Senior Designer, Alys Bryan, comments, “Expanding the team enables us to work more closely with our customers to truly understand their projects and assist them through the design process. It also enables us to develop bespoke solutions, where needed, in order to meet their brief. It is extremely rewarding for us and means our customers get good service and come back to us with their next project.”
Lean manufacturing is more than a certification; it is a passion at Morgan. A commitment to continuous improvement delivers efficiencies and quality improvements that are of mutual benefit to the company and customer. The latest investment in pursuit of this aim is a new polishing facility in the factory. An improved layout will ensure a smoother process through this stage of production and better air management will reduce dust and drying times. Also important for staff and the local community around the factory, is that the new facility will reduce environmental impact with quieter fans and lower fume emissions.
With the creation of truly original, high quality furniture as the driving passion at Morgan, success depends on a fully integrated design and manufacturing approach.
Controlling every stage of the process within the Hampshire factory enables the required levels of care, design integrity, experience, craftsmanship and an unfaltering dedication to quality that is required to achieve this.
A new movie from Morgan has been created which makes this concept tangible and entertainingly brings it to life. From trees to beautifully crafted pieces of furniture, the film shows the making of a Modena chair, but equally illustrates the attention to detail and uncompromising care that goes into every single original Morgan design.

With brassware a crucial element of any bathroom design, Laufen has introduced a new family of taps, designed by Andreas Dimitriadis (Platinumdesign), each with its own distinctive style. With their graceful design, the new cityplus taps are sleek and contemporary, with a pure, flat design and horizontal proportions that make them perfect for urban living.
The range includes washbasin mixers with heights of 115mm and 140mm, and a high version at 190mm for free-standing washbasins. These blend particularly well with cubic countertop washbasins and purist single or double washbasins, while the sleek design of the lever is set off to particular advantage on the bathtub and shower mixers. The range also includes cityplus zero, a rotary control version with an exchangeable cap, available in a choice of Chrome, Matt Chrome, Night Black, Glacier White and Pure Orange, and with the Swiss cross motif. The caps can be quickly and easily swapped to provide an instant update.
Elegantly slim and tall, Laufen’s twinplus taps exude sophistication and iconic style. The twinplus collection consists of three washbasin mixers in heights of 165mm, 181mm and 246mm, offering a solution for all basin types. The range also includes a shower and bath mixer.
Completing Laufen’s new tap family, the curveplus range combines ergonomics with modern styling, all in a compact design. curveplus includes two washbasin mixers with a fixed outlet. Both the 110mm and 140mm projection height taps are suitable for mounting on countertop washbasins or as solutions for single or double washbasins. Thanks to its height, the 350mm pedestal mixer is a perfect counterpart for freestanding washbasin bowls. As with twinplus, the shower and bathtub mixers offer a high degree of user-friendliness. With the lever positioned on the right of the tap body on the surface-mounted versions, users are given ample freedom of movement. A bidet solution for each of the ranges rounds off the extensive collection.
Combining aesthetic appeal with functionality, cityplus, twinplus and curveplus from Laufen boast many technical benefits too. The washbasin and bidet mixers are equipped with a cartridge for restricting both the volume of water and the temperature. The outlets also feature a ‛coin slot’ flow regulator, which can be effortlessly unscrewed with a coin, cleaned and replaced to prevent lime scale build up.
Each plus mixer is also fitted with Laufen’s Ecototal cartridge, offering a level of resistance on leaving the energy-saving zone. This can be easily clicked past should the maximum temperature and maximum flow of water be required and can reduce water and energy consumption by up to 30 per cent.

The 156-room new build Holiday Inn Express Belem-Ananindeua hotel is located in the industrial district of Ananindeua and within close proximity to the Hangar Convention and Fair Centre, one of the region’s most well-equipped meetings and convention spaces. The hotel is seven miles from Belem’s international airport, and will also serve the region’s thriving port industry, one of the largest and busiest in Brazil. Belem has long been renowned as the gateway to the Amazon River basin, in the country’s northeastern corridor. Guests staying at the hotel can choose between well-appointed spacious guest rooms and suites, all boasting a fresh contemporary design throughout. Additional amenities include a 24-hour business center and fitness center. The modern property offers flat screen TVs, mini bar access and complimentary high-speed Internet.
The 174-room Holiday Inn Express Porto Velho hotel is located less than two miles from the city’s airport, and just minutes from the city center, accessible to numerous shopping and entertainment options. The hotel will feature complementary high-speed Internet, a business center, a fitness center and three meeting rooms. The city of Porto Velho is located in the western part of Brazil, and is an important mining town, as well as a strategic transportation and communications center.
Scheduled to open toward the end of this year, the 102-room Holiday Inn Express Marilia hotel will be among the first global hotel brands in the city of Marilia. The hotel will be located in the state of São Paulo, and its location offers easy access to major thoroughfares, industrial district and airport. The new build hotel will boast a modern design, with a strong focus on sustainability, including energy-efficient systems, effluent wastewater treatment plans, solar panels and LED lighting.
Opening in early 2014, the 110-room Holiday Inn Express Rio Branco will be located downtown, in the city’s business center. Rio Branco has seen incredible growth in recent years due to its strategic location – it is in close and proximity to the Peru and Bolivia borders, accessible to the Transoceanica Highway and two key Peruvian ports, thus providing Brazil with its connection to the Pacific Ocean.
Slated to open in 2015, the 180-room Holiday Inn Express Manaus hotel will be located adjacent to the city’s expansive convention center. With more than two million residents, Manaus is Brazil’s second largest metropolitan area in northern Brazil and is recognized for its duty-free zone as well as a thriving eco-tourism industry. The Holiday Inn Express Manaus hotel will include a business center, fitness center and meeting rooms.
When it came to modernising the 1960s-built Four Points by Sheraton hotel in the centre of Milan, updating the guest bathrooms was crucial to maintaining its luxury four-star status. However, with any downtime being a costly business, getting the 254 rooms back into service as quickly as possible was also vital for the hotel’s owner and manager Maurizio Naro. The savvy hotelier, who has been at the helm of the 12-storey complex for 25 years, overcame this issue in two ways; by carrying out the refurbishment work in stages and by choosing Geberit Monolith sanitary modules for the guest bathrooms, thereby keeping installation time to a minimum.
In order to ensure that the everyday running of the hotel was not overly affected by construction noise and dust, careful planning was a vital part of the refurbishment process at the Four Points in Milan. For Maurizio, this included a visit to the annual International Furniture Fair, where he identified the Geberit Monolith as the solution to his renovation dilemma.
”The thin brick walls in the bathrooms did not allow for an integration of cisterns, which is why I had been on the lookout for a particularly space-saving exposed cistern for some time,” explained Maurizio. “In addition to their streamlined construction, I was immediately won over by the design and colour scheme of the Geberit Monolith modules.”
The Geberit Monolith sanitary module makes light work of upgrading sanitaryware as part of a refurbishment project and is available for washbasins, WCs and bidets. It can be connected to existing water and drainage connections without any major structural changes, which eradicates the need for retiling or redecorating the bathroom once fitted. The Geberit Monolith has an elegant glass surface, which can be specified in a choice of Black, White, Umber or Mint Green, which neatly conceals all of the fittings, leaving a minimalist finish, whilst its slim profile means it doesn‘t impinge on space, even in compact bathrooms.
By choosing the Geberit Monolith sanitary module for WCs and bidets, the renovation work on the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel was sped up significantly, with the first batch of 66 bathrooms complete and being enjoyed by guests in a matter of days.
“At first, I thought that installing the sanitary modules would be tricky,” said Michele Tozzi, a member of the hotel’s maintenance staff. “However, the plumber assigned to the work had been well trained by Geberit. Once the first Monolith module was in, each subsequent module only took around two hours to install.”
With installation time kept to a minimum, housekeeping staff happy with the ease of cleaning and guests full of praise regarding the stylish new bathrooms, Maurizio Naro is pleased that he chose the Geberit Monolith sanitary modules for his renovation project. He said: “We receive a lot of praise from our guests on the tasteful design of the renovated rooms and bathrooms,” he comments enthusiastically.
