Spotlight On: A Year in Review – top products launched in 2018 (part 1)

768 512 Hamish Kilburn

In order to kick-start our month’s Spotlight On feature on ‘A Year In Review’ (Products of the year 2018), we have highlighted what we believed to have been the game-changing product launches of 2018. Here is part one of our ultimate throwback…

When December arrives, the finish line is in sight for our industry as we all prepare to hang up our tools for another year in order to celebrate the holidays. But just before we do, here’s a little throwback to reflect on this year’s major product launches. From new lighting ranges to the future of furniture (and everything in between), we believe this year has been a significant 365 days, with these products launching with the aim to help take international hotel design to into a new era. So, here are our top picks from those launches.

1) Bisque – rustic and rose-gold finishes (Recommended Supplier)

Bisque, the UK’s first ever luxury radiator brand, unveiled two new distinctive finishes in spring ’18 that stole the show. Rustique and Rose Copper are two styles that have been produced using an oxidation technique, creating a truly authentic finish. These bespoke designs are made to order and are available exclusively on Bisque’s Classic collection of radiators and from its newly opened showroom in Islington.

2) Duravit – XSquare (Recommended Supplier)

In conjunction with designer Kurt Merki Jr., Duravit created a furniture range that launched in July ’18. The range is specially attuned to the design of the contemporary DuraSquare washbasins. The striking feature is the quadrant-shaped chrome profile edging the furniture. On the floor-standing model, the transition to the leg frame is absolutely seamless. The chrome profile accentuates the edges of both variants. It continues along the corner radius of the washbasin, creating harmony and a striking independence.

3) Hansgrohe – Power Rain

Inspired by nature – think warm misty droplets – bathroom specialist Hansgrohe developed the new PowderRain spray, which many bathroom companies have followed suit. The product has been designed to make a shower feel like a warm summer rain experience. The innovative PowderRain spray is featured in a new Hansgrohe range of Raindance showerheads. In addition, as more and more hotel groups internationally pledge to reduce water wastage in their hotels, the PowderRain spray technology efficiently reduces water and energy consumption to help safeguard our planet’s natural resource.

4) Brintons (Recommended Supplier) & Timorious Beasties – The Craigend Collection

It’s nothing new that collaborations have been the focus on many suppliers’ strategies this year, with some companies going as far as partnering up with friends in different markets – all in the name of finding inspiration and pushing design boundaries. Brintons’ collaboration with Timorous Beasties is the perfect example of this – and to the suprise of nobody, the collection won Designer Collaboration of the Year.

The Craigend collection was launched in May at this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week and consists of nine designs that are inspired by textures and surfaces found naturally underfoot, all reimagined in the Brintons’ signature 80/20 blend of 80 per cent wool and 20 per cent nylon.

In designing Craigend, Timorous Beasties called upon their fascination with the often-brutal beauty of the natural world, as well as taking aesthetic inspiration from different crafting materials including paint, ink and fabric.

5) Geberit  – AquaClean Tuma (Recommended Supplier)

Designed by renowned industrial designer Christoph Behling, the Geberit AquaClean Tuma fits harmoniously into any bathroom. Thanks to its elegant, streamlined design and compact shape (with a projection of just 553mm), the new shower toilet can add extra comfort to any sized bathroom, transforming them into an oasis of wellbeing.

The new shower toilet can be tailored to suit any bathroom due to its design cover, which is available in several colours and materials. This helps to perfectly coordinate with Geberit’s extensive range of flush plates.

6) Vaughan – The Tribal Collection (Recommended Supplier)

Among the showrooms opening their doors at Focus18 was Vaughan, which showcased a new collection with a strong focus on table lamps. Demonstrating that interior design inspiration can come from anywhere, its new Tribal collection is based on travels around the globe that Lucy Vaughan, the creative director of the brand, has experienced. The result is an array of vibrant lampshades, embroidered cushions and unusual upholstered chairs which aim to celebrate the craftsmanship and culture of fabrics Vaughan and her daughter have sourced. Each unique in their own right, the products within the collection is ideal for boutique hotels looking to create a statement, an editorial story we brought you one week ahead of this launch.

7) Moritz Waldemeyer – personalised lighting experience

Pushing the boundaries in design is something that comes naturally for lighting expert Moritz Waldemeyer. Perhaps working  with the likes of Will.I.Am to create a jacket that lights up helps, but it’s his passion for taking lighting design further that keeps Waldemeyer firmly at the top of the lighting design food chain.

In May, he provided Focus18 a specially commissioned installation, which offered an unforgettable immersive experience of light, colour and movement. Waldemeyer’s piece allowed the consumer to put any light in front of a sensor, which would then reflect the colour onto the wall.

Waldemeyer continued to put his innovative foot forward as his studio become a supporting partner of The Brit List 2018, displaying yet another pioneering lighting installation.

8) Chelsom Lighting – Edition 26

Chelsom don’t do anything by halves, including how they lavishly launch new collections. Earlier this year, the lighting company impressed the world with the unveiling of Edition 26. Taking over London’s One Marylebone – and raising the bar of global product launches – the company showcased the the new items in spectacular fashion as each lit up the room with innovation, style and forward-thinking design.

If you launched an innovative product 2018, or know of a new product that you believe is a game changer in international hotel design, then we want to hear all about it. Please email Zoe Gurrier or call +44(0)1992 374059.

Hansgrohe Croma 280

Product Spotlight: Shower pleasure with hansgrohe favourite – Croma 280

750 489 Daniel Fountain

The new hansgrohe Croma 280 overhead showers bring clean design and the pleasure of a generous rain shower to the bathroom.

“Customer feedback shows that the trend towards extra-large shower heads and all-in-one shower systems, like our convenient showerpipes, is still going strong,” explains Jan Heisterhagen, Vice President Product Management, Hansgrohe SE. “With the Croma 280 shower head range we’re expanding one of our bestselling lines at an attractive price/performance ratio.”

Quality and shower pleasure
Precise shapes and clean lines emphasise the high quality of the hansgrohe Croma 280 showerheads. Their design is the work of hansgrohe’s longstanding partner Phoenix Design. The 280-millimeter spray disc is generously sized; it is made of metal, is durable, robust and can be detached for easy cleaning. Thanks to air-enriched water drops, the lavish shower spray splashes less than conventional shower jets and envelops the body in a warm sense of wellbeing.

Product Spotlight: Shower pleasure with hansgrohe favourite - Croma 280The showerheads are available for ceiling or wall installation. Customers can opt for models equipped with hansgrohe EcoSmart water-saving technology. These use only about nine litres per minute, half the water used by showerheads without EcoSmart.

The showerpipe: an all-round talent
The hansgrohe Croma Select 280 showerpipe combines all components in a single system: overhead shower, hand shower, shower holder, thermostat and hose – a complete package convenient for both new construction projects and bathroom remodels. The showerpipe features high-quality materials, solid workmanship and easy cleaning. The horizontal shower arm can be used to swivel the overhead shower to the desired position. This is an advantage in small shower areas; for example, in situations where there is only room to install the showerpipe near a corner; in this case, the overhead shower can be centrally positioned, allowing for more freedom of movement.

As an addition to the pleasurable overhead rain shower, the Croma Select S Multi hand shower offers flexibility with its three spray modes. Switching from one kind of spray to another is easy – all it takes is the push of a button. The integrated hansgrohe Ecostat Comfort thermostat allows the precise selection of individual temperature preferences and makes sure water doesn’t get too hot. The hansgrohe Croma Select 280 showerpipe comes in two additional versions: one with a single-lever mixer for bathtubs, and a renovation model for use with existing taps and mixers in bathroom renovation projects.

hansgrohe Metropol

hansgrohe Metropol: A distinctive style for premium bathroom design

950 646 Daniel Fountain

Following its UK debut at The Water Studio during CDW 2017, the new hansgrohe Metropol range of mixers makes a striking appearance with its consistently geometric design language.

In collaboration with its partner of many years, Phoenix Design, the brand hansgrohe has developed its most comprehensive range of mixers to date; it not only features a choice of three types of handles, but it is also the first range to include a floor-standing washbasin mixer for use with free-standing washbasins.

hansgrohe MetropolThe basin mixers come in four different tap heights, providing space for individual needs, whether for washing hands, shaving or filling receptacles. The hansgrohe Metropol 100 basin mixer is available in two versions; with either a 160 or 190 millimetre spout length for a variety of uses at the washbasin.

Striking design is the distinctive and defining feature of the new Metropol mixers: precise geometric contours, spheres and rectangles blend with expansive surfaces, casting delicate reflections of light. The cubic shape of the base conveys an elegant modernist aesthetic. Handle and spout harmoniously complement each other thanks to their parallel alignment. The rectangular shape of the escutcheon is consistent in keeping with the overall design.

Axor Uno by Hansgrohe

Product Spotlight: AXOR Uno – Purist design in perfection

750 499 Daniel Fountain

AXOR Uno is the new bathroom collection from AXOR. Pipes, the oldest way of channelling water, define the collection’s two style variations – for the washbasin, the shower, and the bathtub. AXOR Uno was created in collaboration with the Stuttgart-based Phoenix Design studio.

Formal, simple design language and the aesthetics of construction
AXOR Uno follows the uncompromising design principles of the original Purist movement with consistent construction: two precisely shaped cylinders joined together at a right angle. The spouts and handles are available in radical or gently rounded versions. The precise contours and the raised proportions in the golden ratio of the taps are their defining stylistic features, lending them a special aura and giving them a sleek and elegant look in any setting. Special surface finishes impart added radiance to the collection, which comprises over 70 products for washbasins, showers and bathtubs.

Purist functional design
Radical and modern Purism – both stylistic directions emphasise simplicity of function. Operation of the AXOR Uno taps has been reduced to the essential: the flow of water is started or stopped by pressing the Select button, by turning the so-called “Zero” handle, or by lifting the ergonomically shaped loop handle.

“Implemented at the highest technological levels, AXOR Uno is the quintessence of Purism: clean, minimalistic, subtle. This collection embodies the most fascinating shapes of Purism, both in form and in function. Each individual product reflects the material’s worth, and precise and consistent construction. The underlying factor is our commitment to delivering perfection in design, craftsmanship and functionality,” Silke Giessler, Head of AXOR Brand Marketing, explains.

Hansgrohe’s iBox Universal’s 15th anniversary

550 350 Daniel Fountain

Concealed installation made easy, fast, reliable and versatile: 2016 marks the Hansgrohe iBox universal’s fifteenth anniversary.

A true all-rounder, it facilitates the concealed installation of more than 200 pre-fab mixer sets and shower systems from Hansgrohe’s wide range of products. This is an advantage for new construction projects, but it also makes renovating incredibly easy. The clever basic unit is a huge help when bathrooms have to be updated to meet the needs of young and old as we move through different stages of life. Existing bathrooms already equipped with an iBox universal unit can be modernised neatly and easily.

Hansgrohe iBox Universal

Hansgrohe iBox Universal (Copyright: Hansgrohe SE)

Fifteen years of installation freedom
Heating and plumbing professionals were able reap the benefits of the many advantages the iBox universal had to offer following its launch at the bathroom trade fair ISH in 2001. “The idea was simple and practical: an installation unit built into the wall, allowing plumbers to connect any type of fixture without the need for major construction work each time,” remembers Alois Schönweger, inventor of the iBox universal and Head of the Technical Service Center at Hansgrohe.

The Hansgrohe iBox universal is ideally suited to meet every-day professional bathroom installation requirements. Designed for use with all common installation systems, connection types and fittings, the rotationally symmetric box can be built into the wall, installed on or in front of the wall, mounted on a support system, on pre-fabricated housing panels or onto a mounting rail set. The patented, flexible adjustment ring makes it possible to adjust the depth of the unit to fit walls of varying thickness. In addition, the Hansgrohe iBox universal is absolutely watertight and soundproof. A variety of accessories are available for problematic installation conditions, for example, where the installation depth of the unit is too deep or not deep enough, or when cold and hot water connections have been inverted.

Bathroom specialist Hansgrohe shows how easy it is to renovate a 15-year old shower area. Customers welcome the quick and clean modernisation of their bathrooms, and are particularly delighted with the innovative and convenient functions, which – thanks to Hansgrohe Select technology – operate on a purely mechanical basis.

Test and try: hands-on experience at the hansgrohe booth
Daily, exciting demonstrations will be staged at the hansgrohe stand where trade show visitors can discover first-hand how the brand’s kitchen innovations combine technology, design and function, and try out products for themselves.

“Using all your senses to explore the hansgrohe kitchen range is an emotive experience. This is how we will make customers at LivingKitchen even more aware of our innovative power in terms of functionality and water experience in the kitchen. Anyone planning or remodelling a top quality kitchen should have hansgrohe in mind,” explains Thorsten Klapproth.

Hansgrohe opens new research and development lab

Daniel Fountain

Hansgrohe SE continues to focus on and invest in their manufacturing & research facilities in Germany. At the end of April, the company inaugurated a new research and development lab at the headquarters located in Schiltach, South West Germany.

“Innovative environments generate innovative solutions”, says Richard Grohe, Deputy Chairman of Executive Board at Hansgrohe SE. This is why the new R&D lab was built on the existing factory premises. “Proximity to production facilities guarantees more efficient processes”, he added. The Black Forest based mixer and shower manufacturer invested a total of EUR 4.5 million and the building was completed in a year.

With the new lab, the company has concentrated all areas of R&D under one roof, in a facility of around 1,600 square metres of space. “We now have significantly more test beds with water, where a larger number of staff members can work at the same time”, reports Richard Grohe.

Hansgrohe thoroughly tests all its newly developed products in the R&D lab before they are mass-produced: they are tested for durability, they have to withstand rapid changes in temperature as well as high and changing levels of pressure, and finally, they are also tested to ensure they comply with all the different legal standards in place around the world. After all, products manufactured by Hansgrohe are available in 143 countries. The Deputy Chairman continues, “Every year our staff compiles 600 test reports and issues 350 product approvals following extensive testing – an impressive achievement. The lab is an expression of our power of innovation.”

An example of one of our innovations is the new burst pressure testing unit. Hansgrohe engineers developed it together with an external partner. This unit can conduct six different tests, including a high-pressure test that can measure up to 200 bar. In addition, these tests can all be conducted while taking into account factors such as temperature and climate.

“Here we test how our components and parts perform under pressure, coupled with high temperatures. The old testing machine required us to do many things manually. Now we can set all the parameters, such as pressure rise ramps and pressure increases, digitally,” explains Michael Kluh, manager of the R&D lab. Every part of the mixer or shower through which water flows is subjected to rigorous testing in this unit prior to being marketed.

Keeping an eye on sustainability
The new building also contributes to the conservation and protection of resources and the environment. With the help of the most advanced heat pump technology, and despite the large range of water temperatures used, we succeed in recovering between 10 and 70 degrees Celsius of warmth – while recycling the water at the same time. That reduces the amount of fresh water used, the wastewater produced and energy consumed. “From now on, we expect to save 30,000 cubic metres of water a year,” says Richard Grohe.

In 2015, Hansgrohe SE invested some EUR 55 million in its German sites. Its largest investment, EUR 30 million, was for the expansion of its logistics centre in Offenburg. It will be completed by late 2016. The new plastics technology centre at the Offenburg production facility already went into operation in January of this year.

“We are committed to staying true to our roots while securing future growth,” says the Deputy Chairman. “These investments will ensure that we continue to be one of the leading innovators in technology and design when it comes to mixers and showers.” In 2015, Hansgrohe achieved record sales of EUR 964 million and the current iF company ranking lists it among the world’s 10 best companies in the field of design.

Barber Osgerby with Philippe Grohe - Axor One winners

International media award for Axor One by Hansgrohe

1000 597 Daniel Fountain

The Editor-in-Chiefs of 25 Elle Decoration country editions awarded the Axor One shower control unit the ‘Elle Decor International Design Award (EDIDA)’ in the “Best Bathroom Design” category.

Philippe Grohe, Vice President Design Management at Hansgrohe SE, accepted the award with design partners Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby during the Salone del Mobile in Milan.

Axor One Thermostat Brushed-Brass

This media accolade from one of the most renowned lifestyle and décor magazines highlights a growing trend – namely the bathroom is becoming increasingly important, and the focus of design-led customers, who value customised solutions.

Grohe said: “The fact that Axor, with its new design partners Barber & Osgerby, has won the coveted EDIDA straightaway just reconfirms what we believe: it is not only designers, but also customers interested in design, who are paying more and more attention to the bathroom and our innovations.”

Hansgrohe Axor WaterDream 2016 - Water Steps by FRONT

Axor WaterDream 2016 at Clerkenwell Design Week

1000 797 Daniel Fountain

Building on the technological capabilities of the Axor U-Base, Axor envisioned a new dimension of individualisation: washbasin spouts crafted from alternative materials with total freedom of form for seamless integration in the interior design or for creating a personal statement.

Within this creative brief, Axor invited world-renowned design partners to present their visions for the meaning of water within the living spaces of tomorrow.

Together with Axor, David Adjaye, Werner Aisslinger, FRONT, GamFratesi and Jean-Marie Massaud designed unique spouts that through their materiality, form and function, give a new emotionality and value to the tap itself and the water passing through it. Axor first presented these five original pieces during FuoriSalone in Milan in April and they were the Axor star attraction at The Water Studio in Clerkenwell during Clerkenwell Design Week.

Despite their very different views on the meaning of water within the interior space, each architect and designer experimented with alternative materials and forms to celebrate water and its path on a functional, and on an emotional level:

In British architect David Adjaye’s concept Ritual, water appears from under a granite inlay that is cradled by a wedge-shaped, precious metal (bronze) spout. The water, always in view, is ritualised: from source, to flow, and finally, to descent.

Hansgrohe Axor WaterDream 2016 - Ritual, David Adjaye
German designer Werner Aisslinger’s conceptual spout, The Sea and the Shore, is a hybrid consisting of a fountain and a shelf – a space for rituality and functionality. Crafted from the ancient and historical material clay, it emphasizes the longevity and the value of water and water-releasing objects in our societies.

Hansgrohe Axor WaterDream 2016 - The Sea and the Shore by Werner Aisslinger
Water flows from platform to platform in Water Steps, a sculptural metal spout by the Swedish duo FRONT. Focusing on the playful exchange between form and water, it aesthetically and acoustically underlines the emotional potential of the natural element as it flows over PVD-finished, metallic surfaces.

Hansgrohe Axor WaterDream 2016 - Water Steps by FRONT
Zen, designed by the Danish-Italian duo GamFratesi, reinterprets the classic Japanese wood fountain. With its minimalistic form and water flow, it achieves a tranquil and meditative spirit, which depicts the honest connection between nature and water.

Hansgrohe Axor WaterDream 2016 - Zen by Gam Fratesi

Jean-Marie Massaud’s Mimicry suggests a water-releasing object in complete harmony with the architectural landscape. Material (marble) and form (simple, geometric shapes) suggest an inherent connection to water and achieve an emotional enhancement of both object and resource.

Hansgrohe Axor WaterDream 2016 - Mimicry by Jean-Marie Massaud

Whether it is by integration or by making an obvious statement, all five crafted spouts address the evolving desire for individuality, emotionality and sensory experiences in living spaces where water interacts with us.

Hansgrohe USA calls on architects, designers for Das Design competition

730 411 Daniel Fountain

Hansgrohe USA is pleased to announce a call for entries for the 3rd annual Hansgrohe+Axor Das Design Competition. A manufacturer of innovative and exceptionally designed kitchen and bath products since 1901, Hansgrohe has attracted the eye of discerning building trade professionals for over a century.

The competition aims to celebrate this tradition and recognise outstanding recently built projects that feature the Hansgrohe and Axor brands. In the 2016 program, US architects and designers are invited to enter projects from the last five years. These must incorporate Hansgrohe or Axor products that contribute to innovative or inspiring environments in residential and hospitality/commercial properties. From large hotels to multi-family spaces and single-family homes, Hansgrohe is looking for outstanding projects of all types and scales.

Hansgrohe USA President, Erik Christensen, states: “It is exciting for us to see how the products we work so hard to design, manufacture and sell, become a fixture in properties across the globe. Now in its third consecutive year, the Hansgrohe + Axor Das Design Competition allows us to discover new projects, as well as recognise excellence. Ultimately, it is thanks to talented architects and designers that our products perform so successfully in the built environment.”

Das Design Competition

Domestic and international new construction and renovation projects completed between January 1, 2011 and August 12, 2016 are eligible for entry. There are two categories of entry: Residential and Hospitality/Commercial. Entry is free and can be done completely online at www.dasdesigncomp.com. Entrants will be required to include brief descriptions about their project including their selection and integration of Hansgrohe or Axor products.

Hansgrohe achieves record turnover in 2015

1000 533 Daniel Fountain

The Hansgrohe Group concluded its 2015 financial year once again with record sales and earnings. Thorsten Klapproth, Chairman of the Executive Board at Hansgrohe SE and Udo Kraus, Vice President Controlling and Finance, announced the results at the company’s annual press conference held on 15th March in Frankfurt.

The globally-operating company generated a total of €964 million in sales compared to €874.1 million in the previous year. This corresponds to an increase of 10.3 percent over the previous year. EBITDA rose by €6 million to €187.5 million (€181.5 million in 2014), which means that results also hit an all-time high.

“In 2015, more than 3,800 hugely dedicated and committed people contributed to carrying forward our company’s story of success. Hansgrohe’s employees can be proud of themselves,” Thorsten Klapproth summarised the past year.

Worldwide Growth
“Generally speaking, we grew in nearly all market regions in 2015, thus contributing to a positive sales trend around the world,” said Thorsten Klapproth. For several years, Hansgrohe has been steadily generating nearly 80 percent of its overall revenue outside Germany. At 77.3 percent, the proportion of international sales remained nearly unchanged over the previous year (77.2 percent in 2014). This makes the Hansgrohe Group one of the few global players in the sanitation industry, supplying products to more than 140 countries worldwide.

About half of the company’s sales are generated in Europe and the other half in the rest of the world. This distribution guarantees profitable growth as it enables Hansgrohe to benefit both from large growth regions, such as China, and from regions with strong performance in parts of Europe. The decisive factors contributing to this profitable growth are in particular the innovative products from the Axor and Hansgrohe brands, offering every customer greater value through design, comfort and functionality. In addition, customers enjoy efficient and personalised service.
Hansgrohe
Creating Employment

A key element in the steady and successful growth rate of the Hansgrohe Group is its staff. The number of employees around the world rose in 2015 to 3,805 (2,255 of them in Germany) strengthening the Hansgrohe workforce by 155 people over the previous year (3,650 employees in 2014). Last year, 42 young talents began their training at Hansgrohe. A total of 147 trainees brought the company’s trainee quota to 6.5 percent.

Strategic Investments in the Future
Investments in future growth are another key element in the success of the company. In 2015, the Hansgrohe Group invested some €55 million, more than ever before in the 115-year history of the company. Of this amount, about €47 million, or 85 percent, were invested in Germany. Hansgrohe built a new lab for research and development at its company headquarters in Schiltach. It also invested €1.6 million in a new plastics technology centre built on the premises of its Offenburg plant.

Hansgrohe’s largest investment is the expansion of its logistics centre at its Offenburg site. The centre is currently undergoing expansion at the cost of about €30 million to enable the company to supply its customers around the world even more rapidly. The extension is expected to go into operation later this year.

Hansgrohe
Ambitious Targets
“We achieved a record high in 2015 by increasing turnover by more than 10 percent to €964 million,” said Thorsten Klapproth. “But we will not rest on our laurels. We have set ourselves ambitious targets because profitable growth guarantees that Hansgrohe will maintain its competitive edge.” Another top result shows that the company is on track to success. Hansgrohe was just recently ranked as one of the ten best companies in the world in the area of design. Hansgrohe now holds a place among the Top 10 in the international iF ranking, taking the lead over some 2,000 listed companies, including brands such as Apple, Daimler and Nike.

Hansgrohe opens ‘The Water Studio’ in Clerkenwell

1000 603 Daniel Fountain

Award-winning German bathroom specialist Hansgrohe launched a brand new concept ‘Water Studio’ in the heart of London’s design district on 1st March.

Marking the latest chapter in their remarkable story, The Water Studio specification centre will act as a hub of inspiration, resource and a collaborative space for those serious about creating show-stopping bathrooms. Situated at 12-16 on the bustling Clerkenwell Road and spread over two floors totaling 262m2, The Water Studio is a true brand experience and brings water to life through the Hansgrohe SE values of innovation, sustainability, quality, design and expertise.

UK Managing Director, Martin Mongan, comments, “Customer intimacy has been a key driver for us in the UK over the past few years and this new London home allows us to get even closer to the talented A&D community. This means offering both practical project support and building stronger professional relationships.”

Hansgrohe - The Water Studio
Share, Explore and Learn

Unlike conventional ‘showrooms’, The Water Studio is all about interaction. In addition to four working water stations and more than 200 products, other features include podiums with ‘Quick Connectors’ that allow easy exchange of products to showcase function and a ‘Behind the Wall’ area for installation tips. The first of its kind globally from Hansgrohe, the ‘Test Rig’ allows measurement and comparison of different products’ flow rates using sensors.

Come Together and be Inspired
Visitors to The Water Studio can become acquainted with Hansgrohe’s unique interactive online tool, iSpecify, which is accessible through screens within the space. Designed to make specifying as simple and user-friendly as possible, iSpecify provides inspiration with a growing library of global reference projects and can highlight exact product details to generate a Hansgrohe or Axor specification. For meetings, a large open design table faces out to the bustling Clerkenwell Road where customers: professional specifier, retailer or end consumer can discuss their project requirements over coffee.

Experience the Art of Moving Water

Water is evident throughout the studio in more abstract, artistic expressions, such as the central ‘cascade’ feature. Here, working showerheads and mixers are set against the backdrop of a 4D-mapped ‘digital waterfall’ animated artwork, inspired by the power of water harnessed and engineered by Hansgrohe. Further artistic water-statements are the window display which features billowing fabric evocative of water flowing from an Axor Starck V mixer tap and the Axor WaterDream installation sculpture (by Front) hangs above the staircase.

Part of the Hansgrohe Global Family
Designed by international Experiential Design Agency, I-AM, The Water Studio’s strategic location will serve as a project base for professionals specifying bathrooms both in the UK and overseas. It will also act as an important global hub for the Hansgrohe family, for launches, events and for overseas subsidiaries to meet and visit with their customers.
Hansgrohe retail partners are encouraged to use the space with their customers and experience the brand first-hand. They will be introduced to the world of Hansgrohe, whilst being supported and advised by the Clerkenwell expert team where they can refine and agree their personal Hansgrohe requirements.

Hansgrohe Warehouse

Hansgrohe expands warehouse space to cater for future growth

1000 503 Daniel Fountain

Hansgrohe UK has transformed its warehouse facility in Woking, Surrey to create 35% additional capacity to cater for future planned growth.

Led by Logistics Manager, Steve Court, the 1,200m2 warehouse has been entirely re-organised and upgraded. Additional racking, new packing bays and a revised layout allow for more efficient work processes and provide extra storage space equivalent to 8 articulated lorry loads.

All the work was carried out during evenings and weekends to ensure that daily operations were not affected. Woking is the logistics centre and warehouse facility for Hansgrohe UK, where goods are dispatched out daily to customers across the country.

Helen Kronheim, Director of Finance and Operations, says: “This planned investment forms part of our ongoing drive to deliver our customer intimacy strategy. With this project we needed to maintain optimum service levels during the upgrade whilst re-organising for our forecasted growth. Customers were not impacted by the change and, crucially, are now assured of receiving the same excellent levels of service and delivery lead times as the business continues to grow.”
