Conrad Washington, DC will shelter a unique art story

Conrad Washington, DC has announced that it will open its doors in February 2019. The 360-key hotel, situated at the corner of New York Avenue and 10th Street NW, is the first for Conrad Hotels & Resorts in the nation’s capital. The property is designed to bring Washington hospitality into a new era of modern luxury with its unique architecture, sleek interior design, inspired art collection and culinary offerings led by world-renowned chefs.

The hotel anchors the second phase of CityCenterDC, a high-end, mixed-use development in downtown Washington, DC known for its collection of upscale retail stores and eateries, and developed by the international real estate firm Hines and investor Qatari Diar.

“Conrad Washington, DC will usher in a new era of hospitality for our domestic and international travelers seeking modern luxury in the nation’s capital,” said Christopher J. Nassetta, president and CEO, Hilton. “With Hilton’s global headquarters in nearby McLean, Virginia, we are excited to introduce the Conrad brand to our hometown.”

Conrad Washington, DC features a sleek all-glass exterior that wraps around its 10 floors, 360 rooms and 30,000 square feet of high-end retail space below the hotel on the ground floor. The hotel’s concept was envisioned by renowned Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, best known for landmark projects like the Olympic Stadium in Beijing and The Tate Modern in London. Architect of Record, HKS Inc., served as the Production Architect on the project. Consultant Rottet Studio designed the interiors as a restrained, minimalist expression of purity of thought and design, to complement the carefully conceived building.

Following the Hotel Designs’ focus this month on art and photography, the hotel also features a contemporary art story that is weaved throughout a unique collection inspired by the Washington Color School movement, curated by consulting firm Tatar Art Projects.

Hilton and Al-Rai Real Estate have announced plans today which will see the luxury Conrad Hotels & Resorts and midscale Hilton Garden Inn open their doors to guests in early 2019.

The development forms part of an ambitious expansion project which will see almost $1 billion devoted towards solidifying the position of The Avenues Mall in Kuwait City as one of the world’s top retail destinations.

This 158-guestroom luxury property will form part of the extension of the Mall’s popular ‘Prestige’ district, which opened in 2012. The district forms Kuwait’s largest luxury shopping destination, home to 47 luxury retail units under a 23 metre dome. The hotel’s design concept will complement the Prestige district’s use of copper and rare ‘Portoro’ stone, imported from the mountains of Italy.

Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton’s luxury hotel portfolio has announced the signing of a franchise agreement with SA BORA BORA NUI for the Conrad Bora Bora Nui. The 115-key resort, formerly known as Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa, will undergo a multi-million dollar refurbishment and open as Conrad Bora Bora Nui in March 2017.

Conrad Bora Bora Nui is located on Motu To’opua, an islet off the coast of Bora Bora, about 20 minutes by boat from Bora Bora Airport. Offering panoramic ocean views, access to sea sports, coral reef dive sites and hiking trails, the beachfront Conrad Bora Bora Nui will feature 29 tropical garden and beach villas as well as 86 overwater bungalows, including the destination’s only double-story Presidential Suites.

Construction begins on Conrad Washington D.C.

Construction has begun on the Conrad Washington D.C. – a 360-room luxury hotel in the centre of the city – and is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2019.

The Conrad Washington, D.C. marks the seventh building developed by Hines and Qatari Diar at CityCenterDC. Not only does this represent an additional investment by Hines and Qatari Diar in the CityCenter project, it demonstrates the continued commitment to long-term investment in the nation’s capital.

The Conrad Washington, D.C. will further enhance the architectural excellence at CityCenterDC. The lead designers for the Conrad Washington, D.C. are Herzog & de Meuron, led by five senior partners including Pritzker Prize Laureates Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, with HKS Architects, Inc. as architect of record. The elegant hotel interiors are being designed by Rottet Studio, whilst Turner Construction Company is the project’s general contractor.

“We are excited to break ground on the Conrad Washington, D.C. because it means more jobs and opportunities for District residents and businesses,” said Mayor Bowser. “This development is another positive signal of our growing economy and our emergence as a national leader in hospitality and tourism.”

The hotel will add an additional 30,000 square feet of retail space that will complement the already successful luxury retail component of the first phase of CityCenterDC. CityCenterDC features a unique mix of local, national and international retail brands, cafes and restaurants with extensive street frontage. Several retail tenants have already entered into negotiations for space in the Conrad Washington, D.C. project.

The luxury of Conrad Hotels & Resorts makes its debut in the Philippines with the opening of Conrad Manila.

Recently awarded the Best in Hotel Development, Best Hotel Architectural Design and Best in Hotel Interior Design at the fourth annual Philippines Property Awards, Conrad Manila’s distinctive architecture is inspired by the shipping vessels that pack the bay.

Hilton announces development of Conrad Doha

In an agreement with Assets Real Estate Development Company, Hilton has announced the development of the Conrad Doha as part of its luxury branch’s ongoing expansion. Hilton is one of many chains to begin expansion in the Middle Eastern country; already operating two properties in Qatar and seven others in the pipeline.

Located in the heart of Doha’s financial district, the hotel provides easy access to the city’s downtown and the new Hamad International Airport.

The 325-guestroom property will include 30 suites and approximately 10,700 square feet of event space, including the Grand Ballroom. A spa, fitness center, and outdoor pool will also make their debut along with seven onsite restaurants and bars.

Conrad Hotels & Resorts has made its debut in India with the opening of Conrad Pune. Located in the heart of the central business district, the hotel is managed by Hilton Worldwide and owned by Palm Grove Beach Hotels.

The new property is located near Koregaon Park, the city’s commercial, residential and entertainment districts. It is accessible to the city’s IT and business hubs as well as the airport.

“The introduction of the Conrad brand in India marks a significant milestone for the brand’s expansion in South Asia, and Pune enjoys a robust demand for high-end hospitality from affluent travelers from around the globe,” said Amit Midha, general manager, Conrad Pune. The hotel includes 310 guestrooms, starting at 450-sq-ft, including 20 suites, featuring up-to-date in-room technology and five-fixture marble bathrooms with walk-in rain showers and soak tubs.

The dining options at the hotel include three restaurants, a bar, a poolside cafe, delicatessen and a lobby lounge. According to the company, the hotel features a dedicated rejuvenation floor with the city’s first outdoor temperature-controlled pool, a kids’ pool, whirlpool, a 24-hour fitness center, a full-service Conrad Spa and a salon. The 20,000-sq-ft of meeting and event space at the hotel features a grand ballroom, meeting rooms, seven boardrooms, indoor automotive lift and state-of-the-art audio visual technology.
