IHG signs first InterContinental hotel in Bulgaria – InterContinental Sofia

    InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of InterContinental® Sofia, the first for the brand in Bulgaria.

    The hotel will operate under a management agreement with InterHotel Grand – Hotel Sofia AD. The existing hotel will undergo a refurbishment and emerge as a 182-room luxury InterContinental hotel in 2017. The hotel will feature seven meeting rooms and five boardrooms, a lobby bar, a spa and fitness centre as well as a rooftop restaurant overlooking the main square.

    Robert Shepherd, Chief Development Officer, Europe, IHG said: “We’re delighted to have signed our first InterContinental Hotel in Bulgaria, in the very heart of Sofia’s city centre. The signing of this hotel demonstrates the momentum of our iconic luxury brand in key international cities and resorts. InterContinental Sofia will be a fantastic addition to our European portfolio.”

    With 184 InterContinental Hotels & Resorts open worldwide and 52 hotels in the global development pipeline, IHG continues to expand the brand’s portfolio in the most sought-after destinations around the world. There are currently 32 InterContinental Hotels & Resorts properties in Europe and five in the pipeline.
