Poised to be a flagship hideaway, Anantara Maraú Bahia Resort will boast a breathtaking beach setting next to the Bay of Camamu on the Maraú Peninsula in Bahia, along a stunning stretch of Atlantic coastline.

Bringing five-star luxury with a sense of adventure to this extraordinary destination, guests of Anantara Maraú will be able to arrive in style, jetting in by airplane to the resort’s private landing strip. Lush forest surrounds create a natural haven of tranquillity. Sun worshippers can bask in a year-round tropical climate, with pleasant temperatures ranging from 23°C to 32°C. Hilton has announced the opening of Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana, marking a significant milestone as the company’s 100th hotel in Latin America.

The 545-room beachfront Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana is one of the largest hotels in the famous Copacabana neighbourhood, one of Brazil’s most visited destinations, and represents Hilton’s second property in the city.

The iconic beachfront hotel in Rio, which was built in 1975 and completed an extensive renovation in 2011, includes 545 rooms featuring the brand’s sophisticated amenities for guests traveling on leisure or business to the South zone of Rio de Janeiro. Meliá Hotels International has launched its first luxury hotel from the Gran Meliá brand in Brazil with the official opening of Gran Meliá Nacional Rio in March 2017.

Located in Rio de Janeiro’s most exclusive area, São Conrado, Gran Meliá Nacional Rio is one of the most anticipated hotel openings in South America.

Originally built in 1972 by the world renowned architect, Oscar Niemeyer, the famous ‘Hotel Nacional’ has reopened after more than a decade of being left abandoned, as the Gran Meliá brand’s flagship property. Following extensive renovations, the property has been restored to its former glory, maintaining the hotel’s original features, with the modern Spanish flare of the Gran Meliá brand.

Recognised as a national heritage site, Gran Meliá Nacional Rio houses some of Brazil’s most treasured modern art. The entrance of the hotel features the incredible “Painel de Carybé” created by Hector Bernabó (aka Carybé), a painter, sculptor, historian and journalist. The artwork includes 270 individually sculpted concrete slabs depicting classic carioca characters. Burle Marx’s gardens are also a stunning legacy belonging to the hotel and feature 46 species of native Brazilian plants and classic paving stones, known as “calçado”, which have been imported from Portugal.

Roberto Burle Marx was a Brazilian landscape architect whose designs of parks and gardens made him world famous. He is accredited with having introduced modernist landscape architecture to Brazil.Renowned Brazilian interior designer, Débora Aguiar has also designed all of the communal areas of the hotel, including the VIP floor and the rooftop.

The highly-anticipated 225-room AC Hotel Rio de Janeiro Porto Maravilha and the 378-room AC Hotel Rio de Janeiro Barra da Tijuca, have opened their doors, inviting guests to experience Brazil’s newest class of lifestyle hotels.

AC Hotels by Marriott celebrates the beauty of classic modern design with its European soul and Spanish roots, borne from the signature vision of renowned hotelier Antonio Catalan, who founded the brand in 1998. Marriott International formed a joint-venture with the successful brand in 2011 and has since launched AC Hotels by Marriott globally in France, Denmark, the United States, Mexico and now Brazil.

The two Rio openings debut the brand in Brazil following a successful launch in Latin America with openings in Guadalajara and Queretaro Antea, Mexico. Later this year, AC Hotels by Marriott is scheduled to expand its portfolio with hotels in Mexico City (Mexico), Panama City (Panama), and Santiago (Chile).

AccorHotels’ MGallery expands to Paris, Rio de Janeiro

AccorHotels has expanded the MGallery by Sofitel brand with the opening of Hotel Paris Bastille Boutet in the French capital’s 11th district near Le Marais, as well as Hotel Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro.

Hotel Paris Bastille Boutet, the first five-star hotel in Eastern Paris, located in the Bastille neighborhood, is housed in a building that was first a joinery workshop and then a chocolate factory known as “Maison Boutet,” according to the company. Vincent Bastie served as the project’s architect, while Astrid Dieterlen led the design.

An emphasis was placed on the renovation of mosaics and the Art Deco canopy. The building’s facade, dating back to 1926, was restored while its industrial heritage is seen in the lobby bar’s leather sofas and in the well-being area with its white and blue glazed tiles.

MGallery by Sofitel in ParisThe hotel has 80 guestrooms and suites. Paying homage to the hotel’s past as a place of craftsmanship, students from the École Boulle, an advanced public school of fine arts and crafts and applied arts, were selected to produce two signature suites, each with its own atmosphere. The 1,600-sq. ft., light-drenched Décléor Spa is dedicated to meditation and relaxation. The spa features an indoor pool with jets, steam room, sauna and two hydrotherapy showers.

Hotel Santa Teresa is the first MGallery by Sofitel in Brazil. According to Accor, the property showcases architecture preserved by the neo-modernist and eclectic colonial culture of Rio. The revitalisation of the surrounding neighborhood began a decade ago with the restoration of the hotel and helped to support sustainable and cultural tourism to the destination, according to the company.

The brand will continue its momentum with the openings of Palazzo Livorno MGallery by Sofitel in Italy’s Tuscany region this summer and Leicester Square MGallery by Sofitel in London is expected to open fall 2016.

The 436 guestrooms include 40 suites, two 1,561 square foot Presidential Suites, and one 2,100 square foot Penthouse Suite with a 1,248 square feet terrace including a lounge area and a plunge pool.
