Wolverhampton’s premier independent hotel, The Mount is celebrating after completing an extensive £1.5 million refurbishment of its bedrooms and creation of nine ultra stylish new suites.

Acquired by Aspen Leisure in 2012, The Mount has been slowly transformed over the last four years, with the Victorian Manor House sympathetically restored and brought back to its former grandeur. Listening to the local community, Aspen undertook the mammoth task of creating somewhere to really put Wolverhampton on the map. The restoration focused on protecting the existing character and charm of the Grade II listed building, bringing new life to the space that has been attracting guests since first opening its doors in 1952.

With luxe, modern facilities to rival any five-star establishment, work is finally complete on five new suites and four new junior suites. The modernisation joins other high-end features including a revamped courtyard, champagne bar and upgraded wedding and conference facilities.

The team behind the chic revamp hopes to build on its achievements with additional regional and national awards later this year. The beautiful boutique hotel already holds an award-winning AA Rosette for its restaurant, a Laterooms Award for Excellence 2015 and stellar reviews on TripAdvisor. As a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Winner in 2014 and 2015, the hotel continues to go from strength to strength.

Owner Scott Bernard said, “The Mount is one of Wolverhampton’s most historic and best-loved hotels. It has a special place in history and in the hearts of local people. We took on the project in the hope of returning it to its former glory, and judging by the feedback and awards we have received, we have managed to do just that. We’re delighted to have completed the new suites, which mark the final stage in a four-year project. We look forward to building on the successes over the last couple of years and adding to our portfolio of awards and recommendations.”

With 66 bedrooms and a choice of standard, executive and deluxe options, alongside a fully-serviced apartment, the Mount provides the ideal base for both formal and informal occasions. The unrivaled range of 12 purpose-built conference and syndicate rooms, three executive period style board rooms and a modern purpose-built training centre complete with state-of-the-art audio-visual and presentation equipment, set the hotel apart from others in the area. The mount now also benefits from a fully equipped fitness studio.

The Mount also has a long history of providing a fantastic backdrop for weddings and special celebrations thanks to its grand and ornate character. As one of the only venues in the Midlands to be able to offer a civil ceremony in manicured gardens, as well as options for up to 150 guests inside its Great Hall and Mander’s Suite, The Mount Hotel looks set to continue its tradition of providing a perfect setting for that special day.

As a final stage of the revamp, the hotel is launching its new website this week. Showcasing all of the hotel’s fantastic facilities, the website will allow visitors to view guest rooms, meeting facilities and purchase custom gift vouchers online .
