Kimpton De Witt, the first European luxury hotel from leading boutique brand Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, will open in the heart of Amsterdam this spring.
Fresh, modern approach to luxury
In true Kimpton style, the hotel has a playful, provocative edge with thoughtfully curated design that honours the local heritage — from the striking ‘living wall’ of vibrant florals and botanicals trailing the entrance, to the large Delft-inspired tiles lining the floors. The hotel also offers an interior open-air courtyard and its very own flower shop. Bedrooms embody the spirit of the modern collector, incorporating unexpected yet refined touches, such as the contemporary interpretations of classic Dutch art and the bird bedside lights that reflect their glow onto blush marble tables.
A house within a hotel
The hotel has 274 guest rooms, including 15 signature rooms and suites — many of which have private terraces. Kimpton De Witt is set within three original Renaissance-era buildings and combines locally inspired touches. Within the property stands a four storey ‘Little House’ which dates back to the 1500s and was once the childhood home of the Dutch playwright, P.C. Hooft. The Little House can be rented privately for groups looking for the privacy and luxury of their own abode; it offers ground floor meeting space, a first floor living area with luxuriant couches, bar stools and a plentiful wet bar.
General Manager of Kimpton De Witt, Mike Robinson joins with over a decade of experience working across a number of Kimpton properties in the US. He says: “After working for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants for ten years, it’s such an honour to be chosen to pave the path across the pond. Amsterdam is the perfect fit for our first hotel in Europe – it embodies the style, flavour, and fun spirit of our brand perfectly. Our personal service and bold design will resonate well with this diverse, open-minded and fashion-forward city.”
Acquired by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in January 2015, the acclaimed US hotel group was founded by Bill Kimpton following inspiration from his European travels as an investment banker. There are now over 60 hotels and more than 70 restaurants in 30 US cities, with an opening in Paris slated for 2020.
