Following extensive refurbishment The Victoria Inn, based in vibrant Peckham, has reopened. The historic 19th century pub with rooms, which first opened in 1878, has been given a contemporary refresh while still keeping its heritage feel.

The stylish mix of old and new is seen throughout with original period details remaining, such as the horse shoe bar, while the guestrooms take a more modern approach with new Scandinavian-inspired interiors. The newly re-opened Victoria Inn will remain a spot for locals to enjoy good traditional pub fare as well as a new hidden gem for those visiting London and the dynamic area of Peckham.

Speaking about the re-opening, General Manager Joe Sheasgreen commented: “We are delighted to bring The Victoria Inn back to its former glory as a relaxed and friendly pub in which to enjoy a beer or a comforting meal in our beautifully refurbished restaurant. With fifteen stylish guestrooms we want to celebrate the vibrancy of Peckham and show case the area to our resident guests as well as remaining a firm favourite with locals. We are extremely excited to open our doors to the Peckham community and beyond.”

The restaurant seating comes in the form antique wooden chairs and newly-upholstered banquettes covered in deeply comfortable dark leather, which look onto the stunning Victorian back bar – an original feature. The Victoria Inn will also be home to a private dining space, used for parties and supper clubs, and seating up to 15. Furnished with a long table made from light-coloured wood, the space will be used in the day by locals businesses and residents who can take full advantage of the TV/AV system for presentations.

Following the refurbishment, the number of guestrooms at The Victoria Inn has been downsized from 19 to 15, making each room significantly larger. Each of the beautifully appointed rooms has a spacious en-suite, including the family room that comfortably sleeps four. As with the rest of the property, the rooms have been created by ADS Design who have used clean lines and muted tones of off-white and slate, with pops of yellow, to give a contemporary Scandinavian feel to the spaces.

Filled with unique art pieces and fixtures, every room has a Nespresso coffee machine, air conditioning and sound system. Check-in will be informal with no fixed reception, instead guests will be invited to check in and out at the bar.
