Set in 320 acres of rural Essex countryside is the Crowne Plaza Resort Colchester – Five Lakes. The resort has two 18-hole golf courses, spa, two restaurants (Brasserie 1 and Catch 22), Bar Lacu, 18 meeting rooms, 3,500sqm of exhibition space, pool, 194 guest rooms and four suites. Aimed at the business market and those looking for an alternative base to stay during the Olympics in 2012, the resort offers a refuge away from the hustle and bustle of London and prides itself on excellent customer service.The launch of the resort on Thursday 6th October was celebrated with a vast number of guests from the press and local businesses. Entertainment included a string quartet, opera and West End singer and both restaurants and bar offered a variety of meals to sample.
It was an extravagant party with a guest appearance from Andy Priaulx, Triple World Touring Car Champion who Crowne Plaza sponsors.
Overall it was a fantastic night and the resort showcased its high quality food, excellent level of service and services – there was even a section offering free massages to demonstrate the spa but it was so popular I missed out!
