BLESS Collection Hotels opens brand’s first luxury property

The luxury hotel brand, which sits under the Palladium Hotel Group umbrella has opened the 111-key BLESS Hotel Madrid designed by Lázaro Rosa-Violan… 

BLESS Collection Hotels, a new luxury hotel brand from Palladium Hotel Group which owns , has opened its first property, BLESS Hotel Madrid. The hotel opens as the brand begins to expand its luxury arm in cosmopolitan cities and international beachfront destinations starting with Ibiza this summer.

BLESS Hotel Madrid, located on Calle de Velázquez in the heart of the city’s fashionable Salamanca district, is housed in the former Gran Hotel Velázquez, a historical social hub among locals. Maintaining the original essence of the property, BLESS Hotel Madrid will continue to offer locals an inner-city sanctuary as well as providing guests with a stylish base from which to explore the Spanish capital.

BLESS Hotel Madrid boasts 111 rooms, rooftop pool, bowling alley, spa and gym, gourmet destination restaurant, three bars and conference spaces. Renowned Spanish designer and architect Lázaro Rosa-Violan incorporated elements of the property’s former glory including the marble staircase and glass dome with modern materials and colour schemes to create a quintessentially Madrilenian ambience with a contemporary slant, blending the best of Madrid in the 1950s to the present day. Spaces in the hotel including Feten and Picos Pardos have been given names relating to Madrid colloquialism, presenting a truly authentic vision of the city.

The hotel will also present a non-stop programme of inspirational entertainment drawing on the destination’s cultural agenda – from art and culture to fashion and gastronomy.  These “happenings” will include live music, fashion shows, performance and visual art and photography exhibitions.

One of the special spaces some of these events will take place is Velázquez 62.5, an elegant boulevard area which will become an exclusive retail and entertainment destination for Madrid residents as well as hotel guests.  The space will include an exclusive beauty center and will feature a variety of pop-up art exhibitions and music events.

Guests will also be able to enjoy unique entertainment at Fetén, an elegant and vibrant ‘clandestine bar’ complete with a retro-styled bowling alley.

The property’s distinctly Mediterranean-styled interiors have been designed by renowned Spanish designer and architect Lázaro Rosa-Violan, whose vision is to create a quintessentially Madrilenian character with a contemporary slant. Key design features will include ‘sensory architecture’ that will define the hotel ambiance, collaborative work spaces and the all-important social areas.

The BLESS Collection Hotels brand is built around the concept of Hedonistic Luxury, a unique proposition designed for citizens of the world – modern travellers, sybarites and pleasure-seekers. In its own words “BLESS Collection Hotels worships the pursuit of happiness and the good life”. The brand will offer original and innovative services and features created to feed the spirit and allow guests to experience “the best of living”.  A personal butler will help guests prepare their perfect ‘BLESS’ bath experience each day, with a range of bath salts, soaps and essences, depending on skin type, mood and other factors.  And guests will be able to customise their “resting experience” through various features such as choosing their bed linen, pillow type and sleep scents.

Following opening of BLESS Hotel Madrid, the hotel brand is also slated to open BLESS Hotel Ibiza next year, with further hotels to be announced shortly.

Autograph Collection Hotels, part of Marriott International, has welcomed its third distinctly independent property in Madrid with the opening of Hotel Círculo Gran Vía.

The magnificent neo-classical building is the former home of the Merchants and Industrialist’s Circle and has been transformed into a boutique, adults-only hotel and casino following a multi-million euro renovation. Offering 71 stylish rooms and suites, Hotel Círculo Gran Vía joins an ever-evolving ensemble of more than 110 Autograph Collection Hotels around the world that are independent, one-of-a-kind and share the brand’s values of vision, design and craft.

Hotel Círculo Gran Vía is located on the world-famous Gran Vía, a lively street lined with magnificent buildings and delightfully quirky Art Nouveau and Art Deco facades. Built in the 1920s, the building was a meeting place for intellectuals of the famous Bilis Club, a literary society “without rules, directive board or address.” The property’s history prevails throughout with classical features showcasing the grandeur of the time.

The hotel’s design aesthetic is inspired by the building’s historic role as a gentleman’s club. Muted colours, textured fabrics and aged wood are artfully combined to balance the majestic with the contemporary. A photographic art exhibition entitled “Memories of Gran Via” composed of 175 historic pictures is displayed throughout the guestrooms and public areas offering a fascinating perspective on Madrid in decades past.

One of the hotel’s many highlights is Casino Gran Vía, the most famous casino in Madrid featuring traditional Baccarat, Poker and Black Jack tables as well as American Roulette. Another highlight is the stunning Royal Hall, a grand and atmospheric space dotted with sumptuous furnishings, which serves as the hotel’s living area where guests can relax, read and enjoy a drink.

Hotel Círculo Gran Vía, Autograph Collection is the brand’s third charmingly independent hotel in Madrid, joining Hotel Palacio Del Retiro and Hotel Santo Mauro.

New Madrid property, Only YOU Hotel Atocha has officially opened its doors bringing an authentic slice of New York to the Spanish capital.

The launch of the new urban-style hotel welcomes a unique range of events, including a pop up gin bar (in collaboration with Seagram’s Gin) featuring the four most famous cocktail bars from the Big Apple, including highly acclaimed The Dead Rabbit. The four-month launch period also features an authentic jazz residency from renowned US jazz label Blue Note, a barber shop reminiscent of Frank’s Chop Shop, located in the lower east side of Manhattan, and gastronomy created by New York based Michelin star chef, Bryce Shuman.

Palladium Hotel Group is expanding in Madrid with a new property adding to the group’s wider diversification and expansion over the last few years.

After the success of Only YOU Boutique Hotel Madrid which opened in September 2013, the group has now reinforced its commitment to the Spanish capital with the launch of a new centrally-located property, Only YOU Hotel Atocha, opening in early November 2016.
