Following the opening of the brand’s latest hotel in Botanique in Brazil, Six Senses has unveiled images of its highly anticipated hotel in Ibiza. Said to be one the Mediterranean’s most anticipated openings this year, as outlined in our 2021 Hotel Openings SeriesSix Senses Ibiza is located on the peaceful northern tip of the island, the village-like resort will capture the authentic essence of the Balearic island both in look and feel. It will be set over 20-acres, with unrivalled sea views and will benefit from direct access to one of the most beautiful bays in Ibiza, Cala Xarraca. Live layers of programming and experiences will constantly evolve to celebrate music, art, sustainable fashion, spirituality, pioneering wellness, culinary exploration and culture, all synonymous with the island.

Six Senses Ibiza will be the first sustainable BREEAM certified resort and residential community in the Balearics. The resort will offer 116 guest accommodations, villas, suites and beachfront caves and a number of Village Residences with intimate terraces, lush gardens and pools – perfect for those looking for a permanent hideaway in the Mediterranean.

“Our vision is to capture the authentic Ibiza experience of community, spirituality and celebration,” Jonathan Leitersdorf, the architect and developer, explains. In the hot season (May to October), the community celebrates. From lazy days soaking poolside, enjoying the natural beauty of the bay or meeting an extended family of islanders, to gathering at night on long tables to explore new culinary delights, festive pop-up events and full moon dinners.

In the cool season (November to April), the community shares deep spiritual experiences. Six Senses Ibiza is gearing up to feature a series of immersive teaser weekends and longer-stay retreats, initially yoga, cleanse and fitness.

Surrounded by beautiful unspoiled coves and groves, Six Senses Ibiza is symbolic of the light, beauty and natural rhythms of the seasons that draw people back again. The tactile Finca-style aesthetic has a modern and sophisticated design and finish, and the architecture is built and inspired by locally sourced materials. The Farm at Six Senses Ibiza is a 400-year-old olive press and agricultural estate, where guests will take part in growing the abundance of organic produce that will also supply the resort’s restaurants, café and bars.

“This vision captures an authentic Ibiza experience that really resonates with me on a personal level,” says Neil Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer of Six Senses. “It is aligned with our set of beliefs, particularly around emotional hospitality. Sustainability is a huge part of our company ethos. And when you find a magical place such as Cala Xarraca, it’s something that you work really hard to both showcase and respect. In the case of Six Senses Ibiza, this is what shines so brightly.”

Six Senses Ibiza will be the first European outpost for celebrity chef Eyal Shani, founding father of new Israeli cuisine. His sublime menus will follow the Eat With Six Senses guiding principles of organic, seasonal, nutritious and delicious, gathering guests at the exquisite long tables of the Farmers’ Market. Other signature venues including The Orchard, The Piazza, Farmacy Bar and Live Cave will be complemented by grow-your-own veg, chef’s table and cooking lessons at the Farm.

The Six Senses Spa houses single and couple’s treatment rooms, a steam room, hammam and state-of-the-art fitness area, café and juice bar. The Rose Bar offers night owls a chance to roll back the years through a range of healing and preventative longevity programmes combining diagnostics, biohacking, nutrition and beauty treatments. Outdoors there is an impressive yoga deck and boxing ring on the roof. There will also be immersive retreats at the resort which will be facilitated by Friends of Six Senses, Visiting Practitioners and partners.

Six Senses Ibiza will add an enticing new setting to the vibrant Ibiza music scene. Directly on the shorefront, the Beach Caves music venue is the heart of the resort. Hosting live shows, events, emerging artist sessions, and an expansive vinyl collection, the Beach Caves features avant-garde technology from McIntosh and Sonus faber through a partnership with McIntosh Group. There is also a Cave Royale guestroom with a secret door leading to the Recording Studio for when creativity strikes in the middle of the night.

The hotel celebrates sustainable fashion at the Agora, a new retail concept – part entertainment, part education and part shopping experience. Curated by the renowned fashion editors Daniela Agnelli and Tiffanie Darke, it seeks to tell a story in a series of chapters: Reduce, Recycle, Rent and Restore. Highlights of the store will be a “live magazine” experience, a “Cinderella Room” for dress up nights, and an Intention Tree for customers to remember the change.

Arts and culture are central to the Six Senses experience. As they wander through the resort’s galleries, guests will enjoy displays by Magnum photographers, curated by Elaine Groenestein to reflect Ibiza’s core themes. Along with photography events and workshops, a larger selection of fine prints is available through the Magnum Gallery. There is also a beautiful library for guests to relax and unwind in and expand the mind.

IN PICTURES: W Ibiza sheltering some serious summer vibes

New images have been released of the recently opened W Ibiza, which was designed by Tel Aviv design and architecture studio BARANOWITZ + KRONENBERG. The result: a very different approach to W on an island full of soul…

The opening of W Ibiza, following months of teasing, has been one of the most anticipated arrivals of 2020.

Previously a beach front Balearic structure from the 1980s, BARANOWITZ + KRONENBERG (B+K) has completely transformed the existing building into a social hub that connects with guests, sets an apt ‘W’ scene and sparks imagination, while incorporating the bold and playful theme characteristic of W Hotels. The practice has set out to design a hotel to match the relaxed pace and cosmopolitan attitude of Santa Eulalia; the result is an idyllically escape injected with the playful charm of Ibiza.

Alon Baranowitz and Irene Kronenberg, Co-Founders of Baranowitz + Kronenberg said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to work with W once again. It was important to us to capture the spirit of Ibiza within this project. ‘Flower Power’ lead our design strategy; laid back, colourful, simple, transparent, engaging and letting the sun shine in are notions which flow throughout the public and private spaces of the hotel.”

Setting foot at the W Ibiza esplanade, a field of masts welcomes the guests with a captivating sense of arrival. One cannot escape their magnetising energy, which pulls guests inside and towards the Azul water of the Mediterranean on the horizon.

Inside, B+K has meticulously modified the existing structure to introduce a dramatic ascending section of the entire ground floor that follows from the main entrance esplanade to the outdoor pool and sea; a tour de force of ascending amphitheatre platforms that entice to connect and engage, celebrate life or just exist alone together. This spatial arrangement is set between a concrete floor and steel-wired hand-woven laced ceiling; two dominating features which define an inspiring stage for self-expression. Amongst these two dominating surfaces, colours and textures inspired by the Balearics and Ibiza’s culture appear and define the different platforms to connect, relax and play.

The bohemian theme which is synonymous with the island, is handled with a refined sophistication, amplified through the spatial arrangement and choice of materials and finishes. The overall impression is of a refreshing engaging simplicity expressed by a minimum of means: colour, sun and shade.

Consisting of 162 guestrooms and suites, the hotel boasts a jaw-dropping rooftop swimming pool and picturesque sunset bar boasting spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea, as well as a 4,000 square foot spa and gym.

The food and beverage offerings are naturally infused as anchoring bays rather than destinations.

The pool and rooftop bars, La LLama restaurant, Ve Café and Chiringuito Blue set on the white sands of the beach, make for cutting-edge individual F&B concepts that spark hearts and minds and bring people together. Each with its own character and mind-set, the venues cater for any mood from sunrise to sunrise.

Through bold and innovative design, the practice has paid homage to the island’s heritage and captured the free spirit of Ibiza whilst elevating the five-star hotel experience to a new level. The state-of-the-art furnishings, expertly curated street art and spectacular lighting, combined with the subtle references to the past makes for a truly unique experience for the first International hotel brand in Ibiza.

Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay Officially Launches

After opening its doors almost a year ago in one of the most sought-after address in the Balearic Islands, Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay is said to have become the island’s new 5-star premier hotel…

Following the launch of Nobu Marbella last week, Nobu Hospitality’s co-founders – Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper – have officially cut the ribbon to Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, which opened its doors last summer.

The faces of the brand along with owners Ian and Richard Livingstone, Daniel Shamoon and Jennica Arazi, hosted the official launch of the hotel with a traditional Sake Ceremony.

Located on the shores of Talamanca Bay, Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay shelters 152 designer rooms and is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. With a flair for drawing on all the island has to offer, the hotel provides guests with an authentic island escape, with carefully curated Ibizan-style rooms and suites, two private seafront pools, four restaurants designed by STUDIO PCH and a spa by Six Senses.

Pool area of Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay

A creative collaboration between the owners with the Madrid-based Procurement Company Professional; every detail at Ibiza Bay has been designed with the guests’ comfort in mind.

Seamlessly blending the outdoors in to capture the authentic island’s elements, the rooms and suites, two private seafront pools, restaurants and spa have been inspired by the white island, (La isla blanca), turquoise of the Balearic sea and gold from the Mediterranean sunshine.

A crisp palette has been achieved with the combination of limestone floors and whitewashed walls. The character of Ibiza Bay is drawn out by bespoke furniture made by local Spanish artisans. These pieces blend into the indigenous natural Ibizan materials such as light-coloured wood beams, “piedra laja” stone cut walls and typical white washed “biriba”, cane ceilings. Creating a luxe, chilled, lounging vibe in the lobby area are raffia lamps, a macrame hanging chair and comfortable rattan sofas are intuitively peppered with striking international design pieces.

In the guestrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and open terraces accentuate the striking sea-views, which can been seen from 80 per cent of the 152 Ibizan style rooms and suites. Tasteful details throughout include mother-of-pearl inlay and hand-blown pendant lights with hand painted headboards that are framed in bronze and complement the woven rope over-sized armchairs. Taking inspiration from the ever-changing colours of the waters surrounding Ibiza and Talamanca Bay; flashes of celadon, turquoise, lapis and indigo can be found within the rugs, fabrics and handmade ceramics with gold present in brass details which reflect the sun. Accessed through a sleek, sliding mirrored door glamorous white marbled bathrooms are completed with Dornbracht fittings and Hollywood style brass bulb lights to the mirror for added glamour. Whilst within the main room, a cool, relaxed and comfortable vibe is achieved with organic bed linens, a ‘grown-up’ in house bar and dressing area.

Coastline view of Seven Pines Resort on Ibiza's west coast

Sneak peek of Seven Pines luxury resort in Ibiza

Slated to open next month, the hotel will offer guests tailor-made luxury, privacy and stunning surroundings on Ibiza’s vibrant west coast…

Opening on the dramatic west coast of Ibiza next month, the 186-key Seven Pines Resort will channel laid-back luxury with moments of pop throughout.

The all-suite clifftop resort is set in whitewashed Ibizenco-style homes and German-based Kitzig Interiors are responsible for the overall design. “We have embedded the environment in each building. This starts with Seven Pines as a name,” says Olaf Kitzig when describing a central draft approach of the interior design. “The resulting tension creates surprising moments,” he added.

Both the element of water, local materials and colours in their original meaning were essential design principles. For example, natural stone and old wooden planks are combined in their natural, rather rough expression with high-gloss, modern lacquer surfaces.

Room that looks out on the west coast of Ibiza

The resort, which is part of the portfolio of 12.18. group of companies, boasts unrivaled sunset views. Where possible, it uses outdoor elements in the design to compliment the island’s natural charm.

The open plan one- and two-bedroom suites will offer an abundance of sunlight. Each suite is furnished in a contemporary yet comfortable design, and uses natural tones with turquoise accents to infuse serenity and style.

Each Pool Suite is complete with a terrace or balcony as well as a central lagoon-style swimming pool with its own chiringuito-style bar.

Elsewhere in the hotel, the 1,500 sqm Pure Seven is said to be the hotel’s ‘haven of wellbeing’ that is inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle and energy of the island. Six treatment rooms aim to reconnect individuals to themselves in mind as well as body.

The open-room concept, expansive living room provide guests checking in to Seven Pines Resort with the maximum comfort, space and privacy.
