Leading UK Shower Manufacturer, Roman Limited, has been praised by their Waste Management Company, for their successful and continual improvement which has seen the amount of waste recycled by the company, reach a staggering 93%.Roman, who holds ISO14001 accreditation, has been striving to reduce their impact on the environment, in line with the standard. In terms of waste management the company monitors all the waste generated in the business, such as; cardboard, packaging, glass, steel, brass, plastic and aluminium. This amounts to a total of 250 tonne per year.

This year, of that 250 tonnes, Roman recycled 233 tonnes of this waste, sending only 7% to landfill…smashing all targets and expectations.

Chris Trotter, Commercial Manager of International Waste Metals, Roman’s Waste Management provider, commented: “We are very impressed with Roman’s efforts to continually improve and reduce the amount of waste they send to landfill. Their stats are a shining example of what can be achieved when a proactive approach is taken to how a company manages its waste. We are confident that as new recycling technology comes in to the industry, and with the on-going efforts of Roman, they can only further improve the current recycling figures.”

John Wright, Roman’s Operations Director, comments: “We were delighted to see how much our waste management has improved. As a company we are very conscious of our impact on the environment, and are always working hard to improve this where possible. We manufacture all our products in the UK, so there can be a significant amount of waste generated from the operations within the business. Recycling and managing this waste is very important to us. Congratulations to Ian Simpson, who coordinates our environmental activities, ably supported by International Waste Management, and of course to the rest of the ISO team at Roman.”
