In the coming weeks, Hotel Designs will be profiling the 50 finalists in the HD Brit List 2017 – this week, we continue profiling our winning designers…

DEXTER MOREN – DEXTER MOREN ASSOCIATES
Dexter is the founding director of Dexter Moren Associates and is recognised as an industry leader in the hotel & leisure sector. DMA is an award-winning hotel, hospitality and residential architects & interior designer firm based in London. Over the last quarter of a century, it has established a worldwide reputation in the hotel sector.

DMA projects in recent years include New Drum Street Hotel in Aldgate, Holiday Inn Manchester City Centre and Llana Beach Resort in Cape Verde. However it’s for his work at Hilton London Bankside which Dexter is being recognised here tonight.

BEE OSBORN – BEE OSBORN INTERIORS
Bee is renowned for creating beautiful spaces and over the past two decades she has designed a vast array of residential and commercial properties, both in the UK and overseas. Bee draws inspiration from classic design and proportion, but always likes to infuse her work with a modern up to date energy. She is passionate about lighting, considering it key to any project.

Bee has recently worked on Hotel Le Toiny, St. Barts where the goal of the refurbishment for Osborn Interiors was to bring a hint of glamour to the public spaces, without compromising on the comfort which is the focus of this hotel.

JANINE POWELL – HAMPTON DESIGN STUDIOS
Hampton Design Studios was established in 2005 and has forged a reputation in architectural interiors and the hotel & leisure sector. Working closely with architects, hotel chains and contractors, award-winning Janine Powell heads up the design team, offering a tailor-made service. She personally oversees every project from the beginning through to completion, ensuring the company’s reputation for innovative design, quality, style and attention to detail is delivered on all projects.

The company has extensive experience in both new build and refurbishment projects, working throughout the UK, Europe and Africa. Hampton Design provides a full design service, from initial concept sketches, design boards, drawings and specification documents through to ‘turn key solutions’.

SARAH RAMSBOTTOM – ELLE R LEISURE
Sarah runs the in-house interior design team at Elle R Leisure, which recently acquired Soughton Hall, and has taken the lead in the £150,000 transformation of the former stately home in north Wales.

Sarah Ramsbottom is joint Managing Director with her husband James of Castlefield-based Elle R Leisure which is well-known for its successful Dukes 92 and Albert’s Restaurants in Manchester.

They also own a luxury Leeds boutique historic hotel specialising in weddings called Woodlands. The ‘Downton Abbey’ style former mansion house in Flintshire has been voted as one of the UK’s top 10 hotels because of its stylish interior.

DEEMA SAHYOUN – inD CREATIONS
Having worked as a product designer at the beginning of her career, and falling into a hotel design job by chance, Deema fell in love with the hospitality sector – especially as she puts it: ‘the creativity it allows, the challenges you face and the joy you can bring people through a space is my favourite.’

Freelancing for around five years, Deema then started her own firm – inD Creations – and in the four years since has crafted a niche for herself in the boutique and independent hotel, where Deema says it’s more rewarding to ‘create beauty on a tighter budget’.

Fun fact: I’m usually the person friends rely on to organise trips, schedules, and group plans.

Workhighlights: Successfully coordinating events from planning through to delivery and seeing everything come together on the day.

Fun fact: I’m a keen cyclist and will happily bore people with copious amounts of cycling chat. My top cycling experience (so far) would have to be riding in the spectacular mountains of Crete.

Work highlights: Charles joined Forum Events in 2022. With a background in publishing, editorial media and events, Charles brings a wealth of experience to his role as Senior Production Manager. Having being involved with SPACE from the outset, he is excited to see the brand grow and develop.

Fun fact: People tell Sienna she gives off Bridget Jones vibes, and she loves to bake, always making sure there are shortbreads floating around the office

Work highlights: Sienna joined Forum Events & Media Group while studying Communications and Media, starting in the sales team where she managed and helped launch the first the PA Life Leading Venues of London SHOWCASE, where she built relationships with luxury venues across the capital. Drawn to the stories behind these spaces, she naturally transitioned into the editorial team, creating social media and editorial content. Upon graduating in June 2026, she is excited to be joining as Assistant Editor for Hotel Designs and SPACE.

Fun fact: When not working, Jess can usually be found tending to her kitchen garden in the Sussex countryside or foraging for herbs in the nearby woods. A keen grower, she recently studied a RHS Level 2 Diploma in the Principles of Horticulture during her spare time.

Work highlights: Jess joined SPACE magazine in 2022 and has since progressed from Assistant Editor to Editor. During this time, she has worked across many aspects of the publication – from shaping editorial strategy and overseeing operations to contributing to art direction and representing the brand on stage at industry events including Surface Design Show and WOW!house.

Alongside her role at SPACE, Jess has built a creative career spanning the arts, culture, design and travel sectors. Prior to joining the magazine, she spent more than a decade in the commercial art industry, in artist liaison, gallery management, and curating collections for the hospitality sector across hotels and cruise ships. During this time, she also worked on freelance projects as a writer, photographer, and creative content producer.

Jess studied photojournalism at London College of Communication and the Danish School of Media and Journalism and holds a first-class BA (Hons) in Culture, Criticism and Curation from Central Saint Martins.

Katy is always on the lookout for the next opportunity to help grow the Hotel Designs brand even further.
