Worldhotels has announced the opening of its first office in Delhi, India – a move designed to support the significant growth of the Worldhotels brand in this market. Naresh Chandnani, hospitality industry veteran, has been appointed as the Regional Director of Hotel Development for India Sub-continent and Maldives to establish this dedicated division. Worldhotels’ growing presence in India has seen its portfolio increase from five to nine properties in recent months and it is expected to further strengthen its position with an anticipated addition of another dozen hotels to reach 20 hotels by 2012, in this fast expanding market.

New to the Worldhotels portfolio in India are:

The hill resort Aamby Valley City joined Worldhotels’ Indian collection in January 2011. This five-star ‘city’ is a man-made paradise of 324 designer villas and unique chalets all set in 10,000 acres of gardens and lakes. The unique property offers outstanding facilities, making it an attractive choice for leisure travellers, corporate meetings and incentive groups.

Matthan Bangalore is a five-star property with 145 elegant rooms and is located in India’s commercial, business and IT hub. Boasting several innovative restaurants, bars and a state-of-the-art business centre, the hotel has a traditional Indo-Asian meets modern Zen ambience offering a truly exclusive experience.

The Svenska Mumbai is located in the heart of Mumbai’s media district, close to the Bollywood Studios. With just 29 immaculately designed rooms, this five-star property has a contemporary and personal feel. Featuring leading-edge technology in each room this property is perfect for the business traveller. It’s sister property, the Svenska Banaglore is a luxury boutique hotel with just 56 rooms, and is the newest addition to the Worldhotels collection in India. Located in the technology hub of Electronic City, the hotel is a luxurious oasis, with 24-hour butler service and superb swimming and fitness facilities.

Robert Hornman, Managing Director of Worldhotels, commented: ‘‘India is one of our fastest growing emerging markets and so opening a dedicated office is a significant step for Worldhotels in expanding its presence on the sub-continent.”

“With our growing portfolio and the added impetus of our newly opened office in Delhi, Worldhotels is well-placed to capitalise on this dynamic market. Our priority is not only to build upon our existing network, but also to focus on destinations not yet covered, such as Pune, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Udaipur, Goa and Kerala.”

Worldhotels has also teamed up with hospitality consultants HVS in India to support both existing and future hotels in the portfolio.
