Sleeperz Hotels, the innovative budget hotels business, is expanding by creating a new niche in the UK’s fast growing budget hotel sector.

Sleeperz Hotels opens its second UK hotel in Newcastle in January and aims to set its design-led premium budget hotels apart from market leaders Travelodge, Premier Inn and Holiday Express.

The opening of the 98-bedroom hotel near Newcastle’s Central Rail station follows Sleeperz Cardiff, which opened in the Welsh capital in November 2008.

David Myers, chief executive of Sleeperz Hotels, said: “This is an exciting time for our business. While development in the global hotel sector has slowed we have found a way to open new hotels in the UK at a time that is right for both the consumer and the Sleeperz product.

A stay at a Sleeperz Hotels is more interesting than at a predictable budget chain. Our philosophy is design-led with bold contemporary interiors and eye catching buildings near to city centre rail stations with rooms from only £60.”

According to the latest report from Hotel Analyst, a leading provider of news and market intelligence for investors, the budget hotel sector is the fastest growing segment of the UK hotel industry.

“Sleeperz is different from the majority of hotel chains in the budget sector. Put simply, we are the first UK hotel business to offer consumers budget boutique, and this gives us a different appeal from the sector’s big brands,” added Mr. Myers.

Sleeperz Hotels feature modern transparent glass business desks, wet rooms and free wi-fi access.

The number of branded budget hotel rooms has more than doubled in the past decade, illustrating the rapid growth of this segment.

Between 1993 and 2010, the branded budget market grew more than tenfold says Hotel Analyst.

Sleeperz Hotels has attracted £7m worth of investment from Connection Capital and has plans to expand with sites under consideration in London, Liverpool and Manchester.
