Both hotels will be operated under a lease agreement and will open shortly under the company’s Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand. The spectacular resort occupies 1.6 million square metres and is located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierra de Finestrat mountains, commanding stunning views over Benidorm Bay and set in 2 golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus. It consists of 25 separate buildings which recreate the atmosphere of an authentic Mediterranean village with its own church and main square, and a total of 455 rooms.

The new Meliá Villaitana also boasts an extensive range of facilities and services to capture the interest and imagination of its guests, including 5,000m2 of outdoor swimming pools, 12 restaurants and bars, tennis and paddle tennis courts, kids club, artificial beach and a fully equipped spa with treatment rooms, thermal pools, gym and relaxation area. Furthermore, it has a Convention Centre which offers approximately 6,000 m2 of flexible space for meetings which can be divided into 17 rooms, as well as a bright and spacious main function room which measures more than 1,200 m2.

The deal was announced at the Tourism Fair in Madrid by the CEO of Meliá Hotels International, Gabriel Escarrer, also joined by the consultancy firm, Horwath HTL, specialist in the hotel industry, which highlighted the management ability and leadership of Meliá in the launch of such a high potential product, which will undoubtedly enhance the tourism and travel industry on the Mediterranean cost.
