EPR Architects have been granted Planning Permission to convert Longbridge House at Gatwick airport’s North Terminal from office to hotel use and extend it to accommodate a 192 bedroom Hampton by Hilton economy hotel with associated parking and access. It will include reception lounge, bar, restaurant, meeting rooms and fitness room plus coffee shop with a direct link to the North Terminal’s concourse level. The existing structure will be retained and this has prescribed the building form as rectangular in plan. The building will be increased by two storeys in height giving it a cuboid shape. The facades will be made up of composite metal cladding panels in a pale grey colour on all four sides. Window reveals will be lined in metal, picked out in an accent colour to strongly contrast with the grey of the façade and prevailing colour of the airport buildings.

This proposed hotel provides a sustainable solution to the re-use of the building on this site and provides a positive contribution to the economic future of Gatwick Airport.
