The five star hotel opened last week and is Philippe Starck’s first Italian hotel and Design Hotels member.Emanuele Garosci, the hotelier and former rally driver, chose the interior designer to create the hotel which has 16 guestrooms along with six apartment suites, a private members club and restaurant.
The aim was to recapture the 16th century former residence’s charm. The hotel property features exposed bricks mixed with contemporary design, which includes clear glass wardrobes, and nine custom-made Murano glass works.
Garosci said: “There was a need in Venice for something new, to go against the traditional way of thinking about Venice. Palazzina Grassi is more like a private club, a combination of a hotel and very unique spaces where guests can live as a Venetian.”
