Häfele Group, the world leader in hardware technology and electronic locking systems with its head office in Nagold, Germany, has supplied hardware products and technology worth 8m Euros for the world’s tallest building that was recently opened in Dubai. The Dubai office of Häfele GCC formed a local joint venture with DORMA Gulf, the international architectural firm Skidmore Owings and Merrill and project managers Turner International to provide the specifications for the ‘Tallest Tower in the World’, now named Burj Khalifa.

With its own team of dedicated specialists for this project, Häfele successfully supplied a complete assortment of hardware products.

One of the challenges Häfele conquered was to meet the stringent American building codes NFPA for fire protection and ADA barrier free design.

Over 2,000 different types of hardware products were included in the program for his project. Approximately 12,000 doors are now adorned by Häfele quality products including custom designed lever handles, locks, door closers, special hinges, a broad assortment of door accessories as well as electronic locking systems with up to 12 functions that meet all security requirements.

In addition, Häfele also supplied numerous articles from its furniture fittings assortment.
Burj Khalifa is the highlight and centre piece of the city district that also includes the Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping centre, the Dubai Mall Hotel, The Address Hotel, the Old Town and the New Town.

Many of these projects were also supplied by Häfele. Retail boutiques in the Dubai Mall are outfitted with Häfele’s electronic transponder supported locking system Dialock.

Executing this major Dubai project, Häfele Project Service division was able to demonstrate its capabilities once again. Häfele’s own project specialists provide comprehensive consultation and system expertise on all issues concerning hardware fittings and technology.

Häfele’s international project department is in high demand amongst architects, developers, builders and other industry investors to advise on a range of products including the transponder based identification and access control system Dialock, to door hardware fittings and even intelligent interior design solutions.

Häfele’s system and consulting services are bundled in our 360° project service division. This service defines value added expertise through manufacturer neutral consulting and optimal hardware solutions for custom designs and project ideas.

Häfele provides comprehensive support in all phases of project development. For example, special planning aids assist in the creation of locking plans and route marking concepts.

Häfele’s worldwide network allows the company to mobilise product specialists in the location where a project, such as Burj Khalifa, is being planned and then built.
