Opening in March 2013, Radisson Blu Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. marks the next North American location for the upper upscale Radisson Blu brand. The hotel features 500 fashion-inspired guestrooms, 26,300 square feet of meeting and event space, a state-of-the-art fitness centre with an indoor pool, as well as FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar, which features regional Minnesota cuisine inspired by the flavours of real burning wood. As a destination itself, Radisson Blu Mall of America serves as an experience within a hotel; the hotel offers the only accommodations directly connected to Mall of America®, the country’s largest indoor entertainment centre and shopping mall that attracts over 40 million visitors from around the world every year.Construction of the USD 137.5 million Radisson Blu Mall of America began in May 2011 by Mortenson, a U.S.-based privately-held construction services company. Carlson and Mortenson are equity partners in the hotel, which will pursue LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council once it opens its doors this spring.
