Penta, the neighbourhood lifestyle brand under Rosewood Hotel Group, is back in Moscow after 20 years. Formerly operating as the ‘Moscow Olympic Penta Hotel’ under different ownership, the property had closed its doors in the late ‘90s, only for the brand to make a much-anticipated re-entry into Russia with its latest addition, Pentahotel Moscow, Arbat. A first in Russia for both Penta and Rosewood Hotel Group, the opening marks another milestone in the brand and group’s global expansion.

Pentahotel Moscow, Arbat is located in one of the four famous “book houses” – The Book on Novy Arbat Avenue. The Book is a mixed-use building, and is among the first high-rises to appear in Russia on Novy Arbat 15. After a major overhaul, the building now offers three new accommodation types – Pentahotel Moscow, Arbat, for visitors to the city, serviced apartments for rent, and apartment suites for permanent residents. Developed by mastermind developer/ author Capital Group, The Book is a 26-storey building with 28,900 sq.m that stands as a place of modern history fused with three state-of-the-art urban living solutions in the heart of Moscow. The dynamism of The Book stems not only from the commitment to delivering top quality comfort to its residents, but also from the very history of the property, which was constructed to reflect the contemporary side of Moscow – ‘The Book, is done for living’.

Occupying six polished floors, Pentahotel Moscow, Arbat also carries the mission of bringing Penta’s latest global design concept to life: the trademark Pentalounge, 228 guestrooms and a Pentagym. Meeting rooms range from 44 to 82 sq.m and are equipped with the latest technology and facilities to accommodate any occasion, from trainings and board meetings to personalised events. The Pentalounge is the first stop for guests checking into the hotel at its signature bar. With its open atmosphere and lifestyle features, the multi-functional space is set to become a lively hub and gathering point in the city for both travellers and Muscovites alike.

The restaurant includes the enticing “bistro style” Breakfast Box, serving freshly-made morning delights, while the Pentalounge adopts a more “living room-style” vibe, and is open for travellers and locals to find the brand’s signature dishes, homemade local cuisine and warm conversations in a cozy environment.

The opening marks the eighth country and 29th property in Penta’s ever-expanding portfolio. Pentahotels, the neighbourhood lifestyle hotel group, has revealed its new brand message – “We don’t do normal” – introducing a fresh vision within the traditional hospitality industry, as the brand gears up for ambitious expansion plans in new premium destinations worldwide.

Expansion will begin with its second pentahotel in Hong Kong opening this week and the brand’s first hotel in Russia, in Moscow, opening next year. Pentahotels’ global brand refresh underlines the brand’s competitive advantages designed to meet the changing demands from a new generation of urban nomads. This refresh reinforces the existing brand philsophy that “Penta is not a hotel. Penta is a state of mind.”

From the roll-out of new “penta PlayerPads” which feature private gamer gadgets in selected suites, to its pioneering “check in at the bar” concept, pentahotels reinforces the “We Don’t Do Normal” persona by staying innovative, approachable and constantly pushing the boundaries. As part of this brand refresh, the group will roll out a holistic brand communications campaign, focusing on digital channels including an updated web presence, a vibrant brand video, social media activations, guerrilla marketing campaigns, fresh collateral for guests, clients and investors, and a new CRM system to strengthen pentahotels’ customer engagement capabilities.


Expansion Kicks-Off in Hong Kong

The brand is also set for substantial growth with several openings scheduled for 2017, and many other developments in the pipeline. Pentahotel Hong Kong, Tuen Mun, which opened its doors this week, joins sister pentahotel Hong Kong, Kowloon and is the first international brand hotel to set anchor in the up-and-coming Tuen Mun area of the New Territories in Hong Kong. The former industrial highrise building has been completely renovated into a trendy 298-room hotel sporting the signature “penta” style throughout, with a contemporary rustic decor that seamlessly blends with whimsical local cultural references. Pentahotel Hong Kong, Tuen Mun promises modern technology features and uncomplicated service for stylish, independent-minded business and leisure travelers. The result is a mix of fun with functionality, comfort with creativity, and style with simplicity.

Pentahotels has also finalised definitive agreements with Capital Group, one of Russia’s most respected property developers, to open pentahotels’ first Russia hotel in Moscow in time for 2018 FIFA World Cup to be hosted in the city. Pentahotel Moscow – Arbat, will be situated within one of the four famous “Book Houses” located on Novy Arbat, around one mile from the Red Square. Featuring 228 guestrooms, the hotel will feature pentahotels’ trademark offerings, including pentalounge, European-led design elements, as well as meeting space and a gym. With lifestyle features including billiards tables, digital entertainments and other non-standard services, pentahotels will bring an entirely new energy to the area, welcoming tourists and Muscovites to a stylish, comfortable and modern reflection of Moscow’s dynamic environment.

Stanislav Tratsevskiy’s venture into the hospitality industry could be seen as an extension of his already-impressive body of work as an artist and interior designer. With StandArt Hotel Moscow, Tratsevskiy took his erudition in art and cultural history to create a property that is as traditionally Russian as it is progressive. The Art Noveau façade of the 105-room hotel is juxtaposed against an interior design defined by Tratsevskiy’s retro-futuristic works, which reference Socialist-Realist art and “sgraffito”, a decorative technique popular in renaissance Italy involving multilayered wall carvings.

Bulgari Hotels and Resorts has signed an agreement to bring the luxury brand to Moscow, with development to be carried out by Moscow-based Storm Properties. It is expected to open in 2019.

It will stand as the world’s seventh Bulgari Hotel, following the opening of Milan in 2004, Bali in 2006, London in 2012, and the Shanghai, Beijing and Dubai Hotels anticipated for 2017.

The hotel will be located in a prestigious luxury area, just 300 metres from the city’s landmarks such as the historic Kremlin and the Red Square. As well, it will be adjacent to the Moscow State Conservatory P I Tchaikovsky, one of the most important music universities in the world.

The hotel will comprise 65 rooms and suites, including an extraordinary 300-square-metre Bulgari Suite with a unique 600-square metre rooftop terrace. A full range of luxury facilities, such as the signature Bulgari restaurant and bar and a 1600-square-metre Spa with 25 metre swimming pool, will be at the disposal of the hotel guests and residents.

The Bulgari Hotel in Moscow has been designed by the Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners in collaboration with ATRIUM, a renowned Russian architectural bureau with more than 20 years of experience. It is planned to offer a mix of traditional and contemporary themes, and juxtapose new and conventional architecture through the conservative restoration and harmonisation of variously dated façades, thereby aptly reflecting the design and style of the surrounding area.

The internal building will be totally renovated to incorporate the highest standards of luxury facilities and offer the contemporary style and outstanding service and design for which the Bulgari Hotels are famous. The internal courtyard inspired by the traditional patios of the Italian Renaissance Palaces will offer the hotel guests an exclusive outdoor living space during the warm season.

The former residence of a noble family, and later home to the musicians from the Conservatory P. I. Tchaikovsky, the Bulgari Hotel will convey Bulgari’s core aesthetic values of contemporary design, magnificent craftsmanship and artistic detail.
