Kobe Room Highs

Product Spotlight: Kobe introduces new range of room highs

999 581 Daniel Fountain

Luxury fabric specialist Kobe, has introduced a new compact range of ‘room highs’, the extra wide fabrics for window décor.

The fabric is more than 300cm high with the pattern printed or woven horizontally across, making matching patterns and sewing seams a thing of the past.
The sophisticated, luxurious easy-to-care-for, washable fabrics come in a palette of neutral pastels and rich deep tones.

The collection includes the enhanced Bacarole II, 28% cotton and 72% polyester, piece dyed and brushed to give a rustic cotton appearance, available in 44 shades.

The Levanto, is a cool solid plain created in 92% linen and 8% polyester with a subtle natural shine, in 46 colourways and Larino, an authentic linen look woven dobby comprising 100% polyester has a soft finish in 32 colours. Completing the range is the contemporary Castello, a multi-coloured semi plain in 100% polyester with the feel of natural linen, in nine shades and Filippa, a 100% polyester woven jacquard featuring a paisley design in seven tones.

Kobe room highs

Said David Harris, Managing Director of Kobe UK: “Seams really can take away from the beauty of a curtain and using single width curtains on standard window heights may mean having to sew seams. Sewing two pieces of fabric together to match the width of the window, creates a join. Not only can this spoil the look of curtains but can be time consuming and expensive.

“With room highs there is no extra fabric and sewing needed to match the width; no seams, look fantastic and drape beautifully. You save money on material, time and sewing costs.”

Kobe has a range of collections featuring room high fabrics as well as the standard widths. Both City Chic and Aurora offer the very latest trends in room-highs.

The Savoy - Kobe - Savoir Beds

Kobe teams up with Savoir Beds for The Savoy’s 125th anniversary

1000 632 Daniel Fountain

Savoir Beds, the world’s most luxurious sleeping system, teamed up with luxury fabric specialist Kobe UK, to add sophisticated glamour to its specially designed bed for The Savoy’s 125th Anniversary.

Savoir was first created for The Savoy hotel in London in 1905, and its tailor-made beds have become almost as legendary as the stars that have slept in them. In creating a special bed to mark the occasion, Savoir’s designer, Mandeep Dillon, used Kobe’s best-selling chic and contemporary Chacar fabric to capture the very essence of the hotel.

The design is inspired by the 1920 and 30s, the heyday of glamour, jazz and movie stars at The Savoy. Visually, the bed echoes the slim elegant lines of 1920s design and has a futuristic ‘Flash Gordon’ look with the use of sharp angles and metallic bronze silk. Its shape is emphasised by the deliberate use of a single fabric to upholster the whole bed including the legs. Lastly, there is no fussy detailing on the bed to detract from the simplicity of the shape.

Said Nikki Harris, head of contracts at Kobe UK: “We were delighted to help Savoir on this assignment. “The team works closely with interior designers on major projects around the UK and it was very exciting working with Savoir on the specially designed 125th anniversary bed for The Savoy.”

Chacar is suitable for domestic and contract window décor, upholstery and soft furnishings. The luxurious cotton satin comes in 94 colours from soft delicate neutrals, to vivid oranges and vibrant blues. All Kobe’s upholstery fabrics offer exceptional durability, scoring highly on the Martindale Rub Test.

Said Natalie Byrne of Savoir: “The Chacar fabric was perfect, as The Savoy bed needed to reflect the timeless elegance of the hotel, as well as to celebrate its anniversary. Kobe’s experience and expertise made working with them on this project a pleasure.”

The anniversary bed was photographed in The Savoy’s famous Beaufort Bar and features as the main attraction in The Savoy Travelling Bedroom in its showrooms worldwide.

“We have a passion for fabrics and believe in creating interiors that reflect the very latest trends for today. We consider the innovation and development of high-quality products of paramount importance to both us and our customers,” added Nikki.
