Parkside guides designers through the power of patterns

Parkside is now taking bookings for virtual presentations of its RIBA accredited CPD that takes designers through the relationship to patterns and symmetry…

‘An Introduction to Tiling Patterns’, is a RIBA accredited CPD presentation by design-led tile specification company, Parkside, that introduces tiling patterns through the world of tessellations, looking at symmetry, repeat patterns and a handful of mathematical terms and rules.

Now available as a virtual presentation, An Introduction to Tiling Patterns initially takes a look at tessellations, giving an understanding of the etymology, terminology and types. Showing common examples of regular, semi-regular and irregular tessellations, the CPD then goes on to explore how these founding principles translate into tiling patterns.

Tracing the history of tiles, as well as designs found in nature and their psychological meaning, it then goes on to explore the impact of tiling patterns on interiors, as well as the creative possibilities of creating your own unique pattern.

GROHE published the seminars 3D Printing for Advanced Bathroom Fittings on July 2 and 8, sharing its expertise on 3D printing manufacturing innovations and its potential to transform the bathroom design landscape…

GROHE, global supplier of complete bathroom solutions and first leading European sanitaryware brand to launch 3D-printed taps, is now able to share its expertise on the innovations behind 3D printing manufacturing and its potential to transform the bathroom design landscape, with the architect and design community via its newly RIBA-approved CPD seminar.

3D Printing for Advanced Bathroom Fittings dissects 3D printing technology, its place in the manufacturing sector and its ongoing growth across many industries due to its ability to create small batch custom manufacturing in a much more sustainable and accessible way. The seminar delves into GROHE’s application of the technique and how the brand has instrumented a new design freedom for interior architects and designers, providing them with the opportunity to procure customised products for bespoke client specifications in the future. The session also sheds light on the positive sustainability impact 3D printing can have on reducing CO2 emissions and saving water thanks to less wastage and more efficient use of raw materials.

Forum Events, Hotel Designs‘ parent company, has launched new e-learning packages in response to the COVID–19 pandemic…

Recognising that disruption to general working life, Forum Events has launched an initiative encourage industries to keep on top of continual professional development during the COVID–19 pandemic.

Among the hundreds of online courses available, the e-learning packages include a number of modules on related topics for design and hospitality, including health and safety, sales and marketing, customer service and personal & professional development.

In order to further encourage the industry to polish its skills during the lockdown period, Forum Events is offering unlimited courses for 12 months.

“We have a selection of high-value, low-cost course bundles available covering areas,” the company explains on the website. “All courses are easy to access and navigate, with certificates available to download on completion.
