Ahead of The Dalmeny Hotel’s 70th birthday celebrations next year, the hotel has unveiled its £2.5 million refurbishment programme.Improvements to the 125 room hotel will see the renewal of 80 guestrooms; the development of a new function suite and ceremony room for weddings; the creation of a new restaurant – Indigo Bar and Grill – and improvements to the spa facilities are also planned to offer guests a health and wellbeing service – something commonly associated with upscale spa resorts up and down the country.

A new focus on leisure guests, corporate guests and events has been identified by the management and Samantha Lewis, Director of The Dalmeny Hotel says,
“As customer habits continue to evolve, hotels must stay in tune with trends and invest in quality to ensure we’re providing what people want. For example, as well as refurbishing our rooms and updating the bathrooms, we’ve also created new family rooms and added two more rooms with facilities for wheelchair users.

“We’re seeing an increase in wedding bookings, much of which has been due to the growing popularity of winter weddings and an upsurge in bookings from older clients. The new facilities will allow us to host up to 200 people for celebrations and corporate events, and we’re already experiencing high levels of demand.”

The Dalmeny Hotel has a busy 12 months ahead of it to bring the services it offers in line with the increasing demands of the modern traveller. I remember visiting the hotel as a young girl of around 11 or 12 and the hotel to me was a typical seaside B&B – more upscale than those found at Blackpool as it had an indoor pool that had salt water instead of chlorinated. I remember watching men playing squash from the pool area and giggling as older woman shuffled past us in bathrobes as they entered the beauty salon. It was my first real experience of a hotel – and one I have never forgotten.

Its resort-standard facilities include a choice of accommodation, from sea view rooms to family suites, delicious dining options, leisure club with spa, indoor heated swimming pool, beauty salon and fully equipped gymnasium and fitness rooms.

Samantha adds: “The real driving force behind this substantial investment comes from confidence in our product. Our renovation project takes into consideration the varying needs of different customers and we believe in aiming high. We’ll celebrate our 70th year next year and our family and corporate business continues to go from strength to strength. With this investment, we hope to grow this market even further.”
