Taylor Howes Appoints Jennifer Mainwaring as Head of Business Development

Jennifer Mainwaring has been appointed to lead Taylor Howes’ new business strategy, developing and nurturing new project opportunities and strengthening relationships with private clients, developers, hotel operators, investors and collaborators across the studio’s international network.

She joins Taylor Howes from David Collins Studio, where she spent nine years leading new business. With a 16-year career in the design industry, Mainwaring brings extensive international experience spanning ultra-luxury residential, hospitality and commercial projects, alongside a well-established network across the global design, property and hospitality sectors.

Her appointment comes at a significant moment for Taylor Howes, with the studio being appointed on a multi-unit rental portfolio in Chelsea Barracks, completing the first penthouse within Lodha’s Holland Park Gate development in Kensington, while simultaneously installing a major private chalet project in Switzerland, and tendering for a number of new commissions across London, the Home Continues and Europe.

The breadth of the current pipeline reflects an increasingly international outlook for the studio. While London remains central to Taylor Howes’ business and creative identity, the practice is seeing growing opportunities across continental Europe, particularly for highly individual private residences and destination homes. Closer to home, the studio is also continuing to expand its work across the Home Counties, where demand for substantial country properties and homes designed around longer-term, multigenerational living is creating a natural extension of its established London residential expertise.

The shift comes against an evolving backdrop for the global prime residential market. International wealth is increasingly mobile, with clients choosing to divide their time between multiple homes and jurisdictions rather than centring their lives around a single global city. At the same time, London continues to hold a distinctive position for international clients, underpinned by its architecture, culture, education and concentration of global expertise.

For Taylor Howes, this is translating into a more geographically diverse portfolio: retaining its strong London base while following existing and new clients into the Home Counties and key European markets.

Karen Howes, Founder and CEO of Taylor Howes, comments: “Jennifer joins Taylor Howes at a really interesting moment for both the studio and the wider luxury residential market. London will always be incredibly important to us and we continue to see opportunities for exceptional projects here, but our clients are increasingly international in the way they live. Their idea of home might encompass London, the English countryside, Switzerland and another European destination, and our business is naturally evolving alongside them.

“We are completing the first penthouse at Holland Park Gate, installing an extraordinary chalet in Switzerland and currently tendering for several exciting opportunities across Europe, while also seeing continued demand in the Home Counties. Jennifer’s international network, commercial understanding and experience across residential and hospitality make her perfectly placed to help us build on that momentum and identify the projects where Taylor Howes can bring something genuinely distinctive.”

Mainwaring has particular expertise within the hospitality sector, having worked closely with corporate investors, leading hotel operators and ultra-high-net-worth individuals on projects ranging from significant developments to highly personal passion projects. She also brings extensive experience working with residential developers on landmark addresses internationally.

Central to her approach is a strong commercial understanding of the role exceptional design can play beyond aesthetics: adding tangible value to a project, sharpening its positioning and desirability and, ultimately, contributing to its long-term commercial success. Having studied Architecture at the University of Bath, Jennifer has a longstanding passion for design, historic buildings and beautifully crafted new-build architecture.

Jennifer Mainwaring, Head of Business Development at Taylor Howes, adds: “Taylor Howes has built an extraordinary reputation over more than three decades, not only for the quality and creativity of its work, but for the highly personal relationships it develops with its clients. What particularly excites me is the opportunity to build on that heritage at a time when the luxury market is becoming increasingly international and clients are thinking about their homes as a portfolio rather than in isolation.

“There is enormous potential to take the Taylor Howes approach into new markets, whether that is working with developers on landmark London addresses, creating private residences in the Home Counties or developing relationships and projects across Europe. I’m looking forward to building those connections and helping shape the studio’s next chapter.”

Taylor Howes’ current portfolio spans private residential and development projects in London, the UK and internationally. Its growing geographical reach reflects a broader evolution in how its clients are living: creating highly considered homes across cities, countryside and international destinations, united by the studio’s emphasis on craftsmanship, individuality and longevity.

Mainwaring’s appointment forms part of Taylor Howes’ continued investment in the future of the studio, supporting its ambition to deepen its presence within the international luxury residential, development and hospitality markets while remaining true to the creativity and highly personal service that have defined the business for more than three decades.
