Harlequin launched its hotel-chic Momentum range three years ago, and it has rapidly become established as both an iconic brand within the company’s portfolio and a trend-setter within the interiors world.For autumn 2014, the studio has produced two fashion-forward collections of woven fabrics, a dramatic wallpaper collection, an innovative collection of sheers and structures and a range of decorative plains, all of which work together seamlessly to create a harmonious and über-chic effect. Tapping into the ‘look’ of the most sophisticated international boutique hotels, the Harlequin Studio has stretched the boundaries of design and innovation with this inspirational new addition to the Momentum story. Claire Vallis, Design Director, expands: “We felt very strongly that the most interesting interior design trends were being channelled through the newer, cutting-edge hotels and, having studied them, we tried to recreate this mood and feel in the latest Momentum collections. They are targeted at the domestic and contract markets, but they retain an architectural, structural feel.”
Momentum 5 comprises four textured upholstery fabrics, all of which meet contract standards: a rustic tweed, a relaxed stonewashed plain, a lustrous mesh effect velvet and a ribbed fabric with a twine effect running through it.
Momentum 6 encompasses eight eye-catching drapery designs: graphic but with a softened edge, the designs interpret organic and architectural features such as marbled surfaces, overblown florals, repeating mirrored patterns and a new take on an Ikat motif.
Momentum Sheers and Structures 2 follows in the footsteps of the highly successful first collection. The theme has been developed to incorporate more structured and layered effects, from inspiring three dimensional feature designs to relaxed stripes and versatile semi plain textures. Comprising 13 designs, seven of which are wide width, the range is enhanced by its palette of jewel, natural and moody urban shades.
Momentum Accents is a stylish, semi plain satin weave, with a subtle checked linear motif. The cross-colouring of the design creates movement in the fabric’s appearance, cleverly reflecting the light. Presented in 30 sumptuous shades, the collection is suitable for both drapes and upholstery.
Momentum Wallcoverings Volume 3 is a treasure trove of extravagant designs and textures, enhanced by a superb range of effects and shades.
Elegant and sophisticated, the wallpapers create the perfect backdrop to the fabrics, and also make a striking statement in their own right.
The entire 2014 collection benefits from a glorious colour palette that enhances the intrinsic beauty of the designs, incorporating fashion hues, gentle organic tones and warm jewel shades.
The Momentum collection’s latest additions will be launched at Decorex and Focus in September 2014.
