Atholl Palace Hotel in Pitlochry has invested over £70,000 in transforming its Lavender Spa into a relaxing Highland haven.

The makeover includes a new state-of-the-art sauna and steam room, while the treatment rooms, changing facilities, spa entrance and reception areas have been given a fresh new feel. The hotel, originally named Athole Hydropathic, opened in 1884 as a Victorian health hydro and used the healing powers of natural spring water which comes from the mountain of Ben-y-Vrackie which stands over Pitlochry as a natural tonic.

The Perthshire hotel, which was named as one of the 28 most ‘jaw-dropping’ hotels in the world by global travel website TravelGround, has spent over £1 million in total renovating Atholl Palace Hotel. This has included the creation of extensive woodland walk paths around the grounds and a full refurbishment of the Atholl Suite, conference centre and the hotel’s very own museum.

Graeme Strachan, General Manager at Atholl Palace Hotel, said: “We are very pleased with the fantastic new look of the hotel’s spa. During the refurbishment process, it’s been very important to us to retain the unique character of the hotel.

“We’ve incorporated modern facilities such as our sauna and steam room with fresh white floors and luxurious purple furnishings while maintaining the hotel’s history and charm by keeping the original brickwork exposed. It’s a fantastic fusion of the old and new.

“We are excited to welcome guests to try out our new spa – we offer a competitive menu of excellent spa treatments alongside a variety of spa packages.”

Current spa packages available at Atholl Palace Hotel are ‘Pamper at the Palace’ which includes a delicious champagne afternoon tea and relaxing half-hour spa treatment; the ‘Sunday Spa Break’, including a Sunday night dinner, bed and breakfast stay and spa treatment; and one or two night spa breaks, including a one or two night dinner, bed and breakfast stay with afternoon tea and one or two spa treatments.

Atholl Palace Hotel, located in the heart of Scotland just 90 minutes from Edinburgh and Glasgow, sits amongst the most picturesque Perthshire landscape and offers a flavour of Scotland whilst remaining close to main motorway links from the South.
