Dernier & Hamlyn is one of a select few British companies that designs and manufactures bespoke light fittings in the UK. Renowned for products of the highest quality, its team of specialists designs, manufactures and refurbishes pendants, chandeliers and other lighting individually made to meet designers’ and their clients’ specific requirements.

Lighting made by Dernier & Hamlyn can be seen in hotels, restaurants and bars as well as luxury residences, heritage buildings and commercial premises around the world.

Established in 1888, Dernier & Hamlyn moved to new premium premises in 2020 that incorporate a state-of-the-art studio where interior designers and architects can work with the company’s own engineers and designers to translate their lighting from concept to reality. At the same time, significant investment was made in manufacturing and finishing capabilities so that artisan skills are blended with the latest technology, including CAD and 3d printing. This ensures that the company’s long-standing reputation for the highest quality lighting is not just maintained, but improved, with additional services to meet the current and future needs of designers and clients.

Dernier & Hamlyn was purchased by NVC in Summer 2020 and is operating as a totally autonomous company, but one that is part of a global organisation with sales of more than $600 million in 2019. This gives clients confidence in the company’s ability to access varied technical, engineering and design resources that complement its own, backed by significant financial support not usually available to small scale manufacturers. It also means that Dernier & Hamlyn has the resources available to meet regulatory and best practice standards.
