The head of the Red Carnation Group, Mrs Bea Tollman, recently presented a cheque for Rand 102,000 to the Amy Biehl Foundation for use with 6 –18 years olds from the townships around Cape Town. This donation, raised by the three Red Carnation hotels in South Africa, the lovely Bushmans Kloof near Clan William, Cape Towns’ 12 Apostles and the newly refurbished Oyster Box in Durban continues a tradition of giving by Red Carnation. Hundreds of thousands of pounds have gone in the successful breeding programmes at Bushmans Kloof, as a result of which the Cape Zebra is no longer at risk. Currently efforts are made to support a breeding programme for the white tailed Wildebeest and in support of the Cape Leopard programme.
The Tollman family are also investors in the Wilderness Group, whose hotels are developed with local communities and provide education and training in the hospitality industry to their staff.
