The kind of comfort and convenience offered by luxury hotel room control systems could soon become a much more mainstream feature of the sector thanks to the launch of Jung’s 2-Wire Bus Push Button Modules, available from The Wandsworth Group, Jung’s exclusive UK distributor. The units are simple to install as part of any hotel build or refurbishment and are suitable for both standardised rooms and boutique hotel settings.

While full building control systems often mean that lighting, temperature and blind controls are fully integrated and capable of providing a bespoke environment for each individual guest room in the world’s best hotels, the expense and complexity of these systems means that they are rarely found in sub-five star destinations. But now Jung has combined its intelligent technology expertise and chic, contemporary styling to develop the new modules, which enable hotels to offer their guests centralised switching/dimming of lights, curtains/blind controls and do not disturb indicators in a single wall-mounted unit, without the cost or disruption of installing a full control system.

The discreet module units are designed to allow insertion of a digital image of the room behind the transparent switch panel cover. This allows the hotel guest to identify the corresponding light fitting or control quickly and easily at a glance.

Explains Wandsworth’s managing director Gary Stevens: “Guests at the world’s top hotels expect an outstanding level of specification but the new Jung 2-Wire Bus Push Button Modules mean that middle market hotel operators can now deliver that wow factor for guests in a much simpler, more cost-effective way. And, as you’d expect from Jung, the modules are available in a range of design options to co-ordinate with other style-conscious Jung switches and sockets and complement the hotel’s interior.”

The Push Button Modules are connected to the relay station via a Jung 2-wire bus providing control of up to eight switching, dimming and blind control functions. Extension modules mean that the installation can be tailored to meet the requirements of individual rooms and units can be ‘cloned’ to allow multiple units with the same assigned controls within the room, enabling identical units to be placed by the door and by the bed, for example.
