Being recognised as one of the most green-friendly and environmentally responsible hotels in Hong Kong, Langham Place, Mongkok, Hong Kong is once again at the helm of taking the dining experience to a greener and more engaging level.Gone are the days of lengthy-paged menus… Believing cutting the amount of paper used does even more to preserve resources and reduce carbon emissions, Langham Place Hotel’s vibrant dining outlets are replacing traditional menus with over 30 handy iPads. With just a click and flip on the sleek screen, guests can pick their nibbles and drinks in seconds…you know the drill…

Elaine Joe, Executive Assistant Manager – Food and Beverage who led the evolution of menus, says, “We used to update menus with new items every season. Upon the implementation of iPad menus, we have elevated the dining experience by creating sparkling surprises on the menu every week, not to mention reducing the use of paper tremendously.”

The hotel’s fun and interactive vino app, the WINE BUFF, is used in Ming Cellar and is a favourite with guests. Besides housing the hotel’s wine menu, the WINE BUFF engages guests in a series of wine-related entertainment. While foodies can test out Wine Guy Zach Yu’s innovative Chinese food and wine pairing top tips, the boys can have a cheeky moment and pick what they think are chick wines…a.k.a. wine for the ladies and wine for the men. Spin the wheel (or even better, spin the bottle…) and adventurous guests may discover an unexpected grape that works for them better than their regular…

As Ming Cellar develops more captivating features for the WINE BUFF in the coming months, Tokoro – Robatayaki & Whisky Bar, Portal – Work & Play and The Backyard have all rolled out iPad menus enabling them to constantly and continuously update them with their impressive gourmet goodies. In the near future, guests can expect even more stimulating tastes to be unveiled…Langham Place, Mongkok, Hong Kong, evolving, yet again…
