Morgan Furniture, the design-led British manufacturer of contract furniture, has successfully supplied a diverse range of product to three Carnival Australia cruise ships: Pacific Dawn, Pacific Pearl and Pacific Jewel. Commissioned by SMC Design, more than 300 individual chairs, tables and bar stools were manufactured by Morgan and shipped to Singapore as part of the total refurbishment programme for the three luxury liners.Renowned for its comfort, quality and award-winning design, Morgan furniture appears throughout the various public areas on board including bars and lounges, atrium seating and casinos. In addition to standard designs, bespoke bar stools were also created to suit the height of the slot machines within the cruise ships’ casinos.

Morgan collections on board, created by Design Director Katerina Zachariades-McMahon, include Hampton lounge chairs with their classic profile and subtle contemporary detailing. Boston chairs, inspired by the colonial days of luxury travel, look perfectly at home with their upholstered panel back, deep seat cushions and fine arms with softened corner finger joint detail. Diva is an enduring favourite from Morgan with bar stools and chairs alike sporting a pure minimal form with a feature gap at the base of the seat back which allows for easy handling. Co-ordinating tables from the Verona and Como collections appear throughout the ships’ interiors.

Sailing from Australia and New Zealand, Carnival Australia, provides year round tropical escapes to the South Pacific with interiors to ensure high levels of comfort and relaxation all the way. Each with their own unique identity, the three Pacific liners have capacity for around 2,000 passengers and 11 decks housing the very latest in cruising amenities. Examples include an adult-only comedy club on the Pacific Pearl; the largest spa afloat in the southern hemisphere, and a high-wire and circus trapeze arena on the top deck of the Pacific Jewel, and a spacious domed world-class entertainment centre within the Pacific Dawn which was designed by renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano.

The cruise sector is a highly successful market for Morgan thanks to their ability to apply the Marine Quality Mark to produce attractive and practical furniture pieces of unsurpassed quality which fully conform to Marine Contract standards. The company also possesses exemplary eco-credentials, a fact independently endorsed by the ISO14001 environmental standard. All products are manufactured in a low energy consuming factory, using sustainable FSC timber, top quality CMHR foams and non rusting fittings.
