IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has announced the opening of the new Holiday Inn Birmingham-Hoover to meet the needs of both business and leisure travelers. The hotel has hired more than 30 employees to fill various positions throughout the hotel from front desk and sales to housekeeping and maintenance. The five-story hotel features 112 rooms, including two suites, and is located on a lake in a quiet area just outside of Birmingham, near the intersection of Interstate 65 and Interstate 459. It features fresh and stylish décor and an array of amenities, including an indoor heated pool open all year, a 24-hour fitness center and a full-service restaurant and lounge.

For business travelers, the new Holiday Inn features a 24-hour business center and 1,674-square-feet of meeting space that can be transformed into one ballroom or two meeting rooms. The hotel is near the offices of AT&T, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama and not far from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The hotel is home to Kem’s Restaurant & Lounge, named after the brand’s founder, Kemmons Wilson, featuring a wide array of fresh, grilled menu items and traditional favorites. The restaurant’s design includes hardwood-style flooring, solid wood tables and unique circular booth seating, which are intended to elevate the overall experience for guests.

The hotel design creates a residential atmosphere that is warm, trend-forward and comfortable. It features a natural, fresh color palette punctuated by pops of energetic colors. Guest beds are made using crisp, white bedding with pillows that come in two comfort levels: “soft” and “firm.” The bathrooms include a specially designed showerhead that offers superior pressure, as well as a signature shower curtain with curved rod and new amenities.

The residential design includes business-focused necessities like an ergonomic work station, data ports, complimentary USA TODAY® newspapers, complimentary high speed Internet access in guest rooms, WiFi capabilities and AT&T VoIP phone systems, which will allow guests to conduct conference calls for up to six participants even while using their computer online. In addition, each room has the Holiday Inn guestroom accommodations – comfortable double, queen or king-sized beds, a sitting area with a lounge chair, cable television, hairdryer, coffee maker, iron and ironing board.

The hotel, located at 2901 John Hawkins Parkway in Hoover, is owned and managed by Galleria Properties, under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.
