555 International, a design, management and fabrication firm has partnered up with Chicago’s most influential restaurateurs for the launch of two new distinct projects: Tokio Pub and Perennial Virant. Led by President & Founder James Geier and Vice President of Design Karen Herold, 555 worked with Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants and the BOKA Group to develop these inspiring design concepts which were unveiled this spring. In addition to the launch of two high-profile hospitality projects is the introduction to James Geier’s latest personal endeavor, Deuce’s & the Diamond Club, marking his return back into the Chicago club and restaurant business.TOKIO PUB
Open on May 19, 2011, Tokio Pub is the latest 60-seat Lettuce Entertain You Japanese Izakaya concept found within the walls of the former private dining room of Shaw’s Crab House in Schaumburg, IL. An intimate space of 930-square feet, Tokio Pub offers urban grittiness mixed with modernity, reminiscent of a bar that has been around for years in the Far East but transformed by Western influences. Complementing the hideaway feel found throughout the space are unique design elements including custom 555 wall coverings, vibrant orange fan lights, copper metal chairs and wood panels streaming light behind the bar.
