Holiday Inn’s iconic Heathrow M4J4 hotel has completed a series of refurbishments following a major £1.2m investment which will see the hotel become a firm favourite with all guests – local – international, for business or pleasure. The 617 bedroom hotel, which is 40 years old, has developed a new hi-tech kid’s zone which includes the latest gadgets and videogames such as Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 Kinect and iPads; in addition a soft play area for younger children has also been created.

In addition, the hotel’s reception area has received a complete overhaul to provide a bright and modern space for welcoming guests, including up-to-the-minute flight information on new plasma screens.

Food and beverage standards have been taken to the next level with the creation of a modern and relaxed open-plan Rotisserie restaurant which boasts lots of natural light, views of the landscaped gardens and a private dining area. There is also Sampans, a pan-Asian style restaurant, a lounge bar and Callaghan’s Irish Pub, all of which have received extensive upgrades and refurbishment.

The Health Club has also been fully refurbished and has been fitted out with the latest fitness equipment including machines compatible with iPads.

The investment is part of ongoing plans for the hotel to establish itself as a major gateway hotel for guests from across the globe. General Manager, Steve Shipley said: “We are a very big hotel in a great location and therefore welcome a lot of people from very different backgrounds. Through our continued focus on guest service, including listening to and understanding our different customer’s needs we have been able to create a destination that caters for all – we have areas perfect for families, where mum and dad can relax and enjoy a dinner, while the kids enjoy the free entertainment available in our kids zones.

He added: “Not only that, but we have created three dedicated crew lounges to enable flight staff to relax away from the main hotel in a home from home environment.

He continued: “We are continually aiming to improve our standards and stay one step ahead to ensure we are constantly meeting guest needs. We recently introduced valet parking to save our customers time and there is further investment planned this year to develop our bedroom product.”
