The new DoubleTree by Hilton has been envisioned by developers to become an outstanding social gathering place for the community. Highlighted by a scenic rooftop bar and contemporary restaurant, which visitors will be able to access via a panoramic glass lift, the stylish hotel also will offer more than 500m² of flexible, contemporary meeting and events space including a ballroom with a capacity of up to 300 guests, theatre style.Developer Brayford Hotels has officially unveiled the designs for the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, which is currently being built on Brayford Wharf North in Lincoln. Brayford Hotels Directors Richard Farrar, Leigh Hall and Dean Wann are looking forward to the hotel’s completion and plan to welcome guests towards the end of 2011. In the meantime, the developers are keen to share their vision for what will be the region’s premier upscale, full-service hotel establishment.

Of the 115 modern and well-appointed guest rooms at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln, 17 have been designed as spacious studio suites, each with a balcony and views of either the Brayford Pool or the Lincoln Cathedral. All guest rooms will feature both work desk and lounge space with flat-screen TVs and wireless internet access. The hotel also will offer guests a state-of-the-art fitness centre and onsite car park.

Farrar, Hall and Wann were keen to ensure the hotel is in keeping with its surroundings and the heritage of the site it occupies, which was once home to one of the city’s electricity substations. As well as retaining the original door to the substation and the plaque commemorating its official opening in 1910, the architects have smartly incorporated wood and metal into the hotel’s designs to reflect Lincoln’s industrial past and create a modern and welcoming environment for its hospitality future.

Because of the hotel’s location on the edge of the Brayford Pool, the hotel’s design also has been inspired by curved shapes and corridors with flowing lines to mirror the movement of the water.

“The DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln will be a design-led, aspirational hotel,” explained Hall. “Not only will it be a first for Lincoln, but it also represents one of the first, purpose-built DoubleTree by Hilton hotels in the U.K.”

Hall also commented, “Our aim with this hotel design is to create a luxurious and welcoming space, which is contemporary, but still in keeping with the surrounding landscape and architecture. When complete the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln will boost the city’s offering to tourists and provide a world-class hotel facility for both residents and businesses to enjoy.”
