Naturalmat, based in Devon are delighted to have won the contract to manufacturer all 303 organic mattresses for the first three Z Hotels. The first two hotels have already opened Soho and Victoria whilst a third hotel location in Liverpool is in the pipeline. The clever team behind Z Hotels Bev King, Rich Meeham and John Raymond came up with an inventive plan to turn unused office spaces into new small hotels containing about 100 rooms each. The rooms are very reasonably, starting at £85 per night, something very surprising considering the fantastic hotel locations.

The average Z Hotel room consists of a compact space but everything in it is made to a very high standard with top quality fixtures and furnishings. Hotel bookings and check in can be done online.

Z Hotels are very focused on making their projects as sustainable as possible using the most up to date technology to ensure that energy and water consumption is kept to a minimum. With a strong green emphasis, it was inevitable that Z Hotels would turn to organic mattress specialists Naturalmat to help them with their first three projects. The Devon based manufacturer are the official mattress supplier for all three hotels. In total this consists of 93 beds for Z Hotel Soho, 110 for Z Hotel Victoria and about 100 beds for their Liverpool hotel. Z Hotels have also looked to Naturalmat to provide them with organic bedding including Naturalmat’s fantastically designed mattress protectors.

It seems that the demand for a fully green and eco mattress made entirely from sustainable raw materials would be a necessary item for the hotel industry. Superb comfort that is long lasting and consistently good, must be a given in any good quality mattress, but it is the attention to extra details that set a Naturalmat mattress apart.

Naturalmat are pioneers in natural fibre technology and have developed innovative new raw materials such as organic lambswool that is certified by the Soil Association, which is anti-dust mite, anti mosquito and anti-moth through a natural treatment using extracts of lemon, eucalyptus and lavender; and all mattress covers are guaranteed anti bed bug though a treatment of natural geraniol. Another exciting ingredient is organic coir fibre, a derivative of the coconut husk. This sustainable material greatly enhances the ventilation and spring of the mattress and is another example of intelligent use of renewable natural resources. Other sumptuous materials found in a Naturalmat mattress are mohair, cashmere, horsetail hair and natural cottons from environmentally conscious sources and all biodegradable that combine to create a truly green products made by a great British company.

‘Sustainability is a buzz word in this market, at the moment and those products and businesses that can prove their eco credentials and have a genuinely sustainable business model are in high demand’, says Director of Naturalmat, Peter Tindall.

Stay tuned for the next part of the story when Z Hotel Liverpool opens in the near future.
