100% Design collaborate with Design Guild Mark for British design excellence

    100% Design is collaborating with The Furniture Makers Company to promote British design excellence through the Design Guild Mark.The Design Guild Mark, introduced by The Furniture Makers Company in 2008, recognises and rewards excellence in the British design of furniture in volume production.

    William Knight, show director of 100% Design comments:
    “Celebrating and promoting the very best of British production furniture is a central part of what defines 100% Design. Providing a platform for the Design Guild Mark is a great privilege for us, working with an amazing array of talent in both the chosen products and illustrious selection panel. This year’s selection promises to be a key highlight of The Gateway; a new feature celebrating UK design excellence at the heart of the show.”

    In this, the fifth year of the Design Guild Mark awards there were a very high number of applications. The design of most entries reflected exceptional quality, and sixteen products, all of which demonstrated the standard of British design expected by the esteemed judges were awarded a Design Guild Mark.

    Ten of these twenty one highly regarded products will be exhibited at 100% Design this year:

    • Mark Gabbertas – Diabolo for Chorus Furniture DGM 82
    • Mark Gabbertas – Metro for Lyndon Design DGM 83
    • Mark Gabbertas – Mir for Chorus Furniture DGM 84
    • Terry Hunt – UniteSE ‘Spacestation’ for KI DGM 87
    • James Irvine – Juno for Arper DGM 88
    • Je-Uk Kim – Credenza O for JiB design studio DGM 89
    • Wales & Wales – Marylebone Chairs for Benchmark DGM 94

    Graham Jones, Chairman of the Design Guild Mark commented:

    The Furniture Makers Company introduced the Design Guild Mark to reward the finest furniture designers working in volume production in Britain and the best of British furniture designers working abroad.
