Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to expand in Dubai

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, with a large global presence of more than 9,000 hotels across more than 80 countries, is set to increase its footprint in Dubai with three new managed hotels as part of the Deira Waterfront Development by Ithra Dubai, a wholly owned subsidiary of Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD). The hotels will operate under the Wyndham, Days by Wyndham, and Super 8 by Wyndham brands.

Also known as the Deira Enrichment Project, Ithra Dubai’s development is a mixed-use area situated along the Dubai creek in the southern part of Deira. Communal facilities, public amenities and open spaces will create a dynamic urban community along the shores of the Dubai Creek and will deliver key commercial growth opportunities for the city. The addition of three new hotels to the first phase of the development will also draw domestic and international business and leisure visitors looking for accommodation suited to a range of budgets.

The 282 rooms and suites at Wyndham Deira Waterfront will appeal to upscale travellers looking for tailored services and amenities to match, with its extensive meeting, fitness and leisure facilities, including a rooftop pool with views over the Gulf.

Days Hotel Deira Waterfront will give midscale travellers a fresh burst of energy with its 131 quality rooms and suites, as well as an all-day dining restaurant and meeting facilities.

Luxury over-water villa resort to debut in Palau

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has unveiled a new luxury resort with over-water villas in Palau, the pristine western Pacific island paradise.

The resort is located in the unspoiled region of Aimeliik, which is home to spectacular natural landscapes, ancient villages and crystal clear seas teeming with colourful marine life.

Upon completion, the 593-key resort will offer a choice of beautifully-appointed accommodations, including 132 hotel guestrooms and more than 400 villas, with some perched on stilts over the warm, shallow seas. These exotic rooms will be accompanied by other luxury villas nestled in the hillside and on the edge of the mangroves.

Guests will be able to access two free-form pools surrounded by a large sun deck and shady cabanas, a children’s pool, a kid’s club and a serene wellness centre. The resort also includes a purpose-built conference centre with a wide variety of options for event planners, including a ballroom seating up to 140 guests and four meeting rooms for up to 60 people. Meanwhile, a collection of distinct F&B outlets will include a chic lobby lounge, beach bar and terrace, and pool bar.

Palau comprises more than 200 lush, jungle-clad islands in the western Pacific Ocean, about 1,500 kilometres east of the Philippines. While the country is small, its surrounding marine sanctuary is anything but; Palau’s government has committed to protecting about 500,000 square kilometres of ocean – an area about the size of Thailand.

Wyndham boosts footprint with historic Colorado Springs hotel

Hospitality giant Wyndham Hotel Group has announced the opening of The Antlers, A Wyndham Hotel, in Colorado Springs. It’s the latest addition to the company’s namesake Wyndham Hotels and Resorts® brand.

The Antlers is owned by hoteliers John Goede and Perry R. Sanders, Jr., is in the final phase of a comprehensive renovation transforming the hotel’s 273 guest rooms and suites, lobby, restaurants, and more than 27,000 square feet of extensive meeting and event space accommodating over 2,000 people.

Its opening increases Wyndham Hotel Group’s presence in the Colorado Springs area to 15 hotels, including The Mining Exchange, A Wyndham Grand Hotel, also owned by Goede and Sanders.

Celebrating the area’s distinct landscape and local culture, the second phase of the hotel’s transformative renovation includes a new rooftop pool and bar with direct views of Pike’s Peak; a lobby bar with 100 beers showcasing local Colorado micro brews and 100 Colorado craft spirits; and dinner service at the new Antlers Grill, home to local Colorado fare. Additional offerings will include a rooftop garden and apiary, a new Italian restaurant, a 24-hour fitness centre and an indoor pool and hot tub.

The Antlers first opened in 1883 by the founder of Colorado Springs, General William Jackson Palmer, and housed the General’s large and envied collection of hunting trophies. Then known as “Little London” because of the multitude of English tourists to the hotel, it featured modern conveniences of the time including a hydraulic elevator, central steam heat and gas lights. The hotel was rebuilt in 1901 following a fire and again in 1967, still standing today in its original location.

Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay is expected to open just north of Patong Beach in November offering stylish rooms for hotel guests. CLUB Wyndham ASIA, a part of the Wyndham Vacation Ownership business, has also signed an agreement subject to specified requirements which once complete, will give CLUB Wyndham ASIA members access to luxurious apartments at the resort.

Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay’s 214 rooms and facilities are designed to highlight its stunning locale nestled on the edge of a cliff which boasts sweeping views of the Andaman Sea. The resort is a stone’s throw away from Phuket’s vibrant entertainment precinct yet just far enough to enjoy only the sounds of peaceful waves rolling into shore.

The rooms will bring the outdoors in by illuminating its plush setting and spectacular sea views. The 48m2 standard rooms will offer guests the luxury of space together with plush furnishings and a full suite of in-room amenities. Each of the resort’s 152 pool villas, the most in the Kalim-Patong area, will feature a private outdoor sundeck and a six- or nine-metre infinity pool overlooking the ocean, providing guests with privacy and seclusion as well as ultimate comfort and relaxation.

Wyndham opens Ramada Gangwon Sokcho and Ramada Gunsan in Korea

Wyndham is leading hotel growth in Korea’s secondary cities with two new openings in Gangwon and Gunsan to meet the demand for accommodation in the country’s emerging tourism regions.

Wyndham’s strategic expansion in Asia sees Korea being underscored as a country of key focus for the group, as the government plans to invest KRW25 trillion (£17 billion) to enhance its tourism and transportation infrastructure.

Ramada Gunsan and Ramada Gangwon Sokcho are franchise agreements with KG Development Corporation and Korea Asset Management respectively, and bring Wyndham’s total number of hotels in Korea to 18 and add 693 rooms to its portfolio. The group plans to operate 40 hotels by 2018 with hotels in Taebaek and Pyeong Taek in the construction pipeline.

Set in front of the scenic Eunpa Lake, Ramada Gunsan features 137 guestrooms with standard rooms equipped with queen, twin, ondol or family twin-bedded configurations offering views of the surrounding mountains or Eunpa Lake. For larger families, the hotel offers three exclusive deluxe suites with a living area and bathroom with a glass-encased rainshower and bathtub.

Facilities include an all-day dining restaurant and a day spa, which provides an array of oil massage therapies. The hotel is also equipped with a grand ballroom, which is able to accommodate up to 120 delegates and six smaller breakout rooms. A communal open-plan business centre equipped with two computers is available for the modern business traveller together with photocopy and fax services.

Ramada Gangwon Sokcho consists of 556 rooms spanning across 20 floors, which includes 495 standard rooms and 61 suites, comfortably furnished with mini bars, flat screen televisions and a full suite of amenities. Hotel facilities include an all-day dining restaurant, a spa and sauna, a fitness centre, and a banquet hall for conference and events.

Located just across the Daepo Port, Ramada Gangwon Sokcho enjoys easy access to the Daepo fish market, which offers a variety of fresh seafood produce and local restaurants. Sokcho is also a popular gateway to Seoraksan National Park and home to a plethora of attractions including hot springs and golf courses.

Wyndham Dubai Marina, the first dedicated hotel development from leading Dubai-based property developer, The First Group, celebrated its grand opening late last month.

The four-star deluxe Wyndham Dubai Marina, which is managed by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts – the world’s largest hotel management firm – marks a major milestone for The First Group as well as it marking a significant addition to the thriving Marina district.

The 32-storey, 486-room property is situated near Bluewater Island, which will soon be home to the world’s largest Ferris wheel, the Dubai Eye.
