The new bar and lounge is now open at Sketchley Grange Hotel & Spa in Hinckley, Leicestershire.

This well-established hotel has just opened the doors to a stylish open-plan bar and lounge area – and everybody is invited to step inside and sample the delicious new menu!

Paul Noble, General Manager at Sketchley Grange Hotel & Spa, says: “We wanted to design a space that would offer something to suit everyone – and that’s exactly what we’ve achieved with our new bar and lounge. We’ve combined comfort with the very latest interior trends to create a contemporary yet welcoming space for people of all ages to enjoy.”

The new bar and lounge boasts an elegant and inviting ambience with high-back arm chairs and sofas, high poseur tables and seating booths with televisions.

Paul continues: “Our bar and lounge area has been carefully designed to match the good-quality food and drink on offer at the hotel and we’re delighted with how it’s all come together.”

The new area forms part of a £1.5 million refurbishment programme which is currently underway at Sketchley Grange Hotel & Spa, which has also seen the hotel extend its accommodation to open its 100th guest bedroom. A number of bedrooms have been refurbished as part of the current programme of work.

Paul adds: “Everyone is welcome to visit our new bar and lounge – you don’t have to be staying at the hotel to pop in for a drink or come and enjoy a meal. We want to get to know the local community and we hope they will make the most of our new space.”

Rezidor announced this week the opening of the world’s very first Radisson RED hotel in Brussels, Belgium.

Radisson RED is a new hotel philosophy and lifestyle brand that aims to reflect the millennial mindset. Inspired by art, music and fashion, the brand incorporates bold design and breaks the traditional model of hotels. Marriott International is celebrating the grand opening of the highly anticipated SpringHill Suites & Residence Inn San Diego Downtown Bayfront at BRIC. Adding to the expanding portfolio, the SpringHill Suites marked the 3,000th Select Service property for the Marriott Global Portfolio.

Marriott International’s end-to-end hotel management solution – Managed by Marriott (MxM) – will operate this new hotel. The John Portman & Associates designed hotels deliver an integrated guest experience for both of these Marriott brands within one shared footprint.

The hotel offers cutting-edge design with its striking yellow wall, spectacular bay and city skyline views, fifth-floor outdoor swimming pool, bay-front patio area and state of the art fitness centre.

AC Hotels by Marriott has opened its fifth property in France, the AC Hotel Marseille Velodrome, in the heart of the city’s business district.

The 126-room hotel offers close proximity to key locations – such as Calanques National Park, Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica, the historic district and the Vieux Port. The property is 30 minutes from the International Marseille Provence airport and 10 minutes from the Saint Charles train station.

Reflecting the contemporary architecture of the city, the guestrooms incorporate an urban colour-scheme with hints of bright colour, clean lines and hardwood floors. Furniture is lifted from the ground to create a sense of space and white linens are used to craft a look that is both refined and elegant.

The hotel’s Oh Massalia restaurant serves authentic Mediterranean cuisine amid a landscaped garden. For small meetings and events, the hotel features one versatile space for up to 12 people featuring the latest technology. The hotel offers complimentary WiFi throughout all rooms and public spaces.

The new hotel joins AC Hotel Ambassadeur Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, AC Hotel Nice, AC Hotel Paris Porte Maillot and AC Hotel Paris Le Bourget in France. Marriott will bring 22 new AC hotels slated to open in 2016.

The North East’s newest hotel is nearing completion, marking a Northern landmark for one of hospitality’s biggest brands. The Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland will open adjacent to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light later this spring.

It will be the first Hilton Garden Inn property to launch in Northern England and the only one to date between Birmingham and Glasgow.

“It is a real coup for us to be bringing the Hilton Garden Inn brand to such an exciting location just opposite the Stadium of Light,” said Kim Kelso, Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland’s General Manager. “The new hotel will help to fill a gap in the market catering for the growing number of people coming to work and play in Sunderland.”

The Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland, created by Gateshead-based architects, Redbox Design Group, will offer high quality, good value accommodation, with two wings housing 141 en-suite guest rooms.

Construction on the H-shaped property, which began in summer 2015, is being managed by professional service provider, Turner & Townsend and led by Tolent Construction Ltd. Key contractors include Opus Building Services, based in Sunderland, Walker Modular, based in Yorkshire and Swandene Specialist Contract Interiors, based at Washington, Tyne and Wear.

The Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland, which is expected to launch in early May, is already accepting bookings and looking ahead to a busy first quarter.

“Once completed, we’re confident that the Hilton Garden Inn will make an ideal base for tourists exploring the sites of Sunderland and the surrounding area,” said Kim Kelso. “It will also offer an accommodation option for those attending events at the Stadium of Light, including football, weddings, corporate events and the performance by Beyonce in June.”

Marriott adds The Hague property to its portfolio following 4-month refurb

Marriott Hotels – Marriott International’s signature brand – has welcomed The Hague Marriott to its portfolio following an extensive four-month refurbishment.

The hotel, situated in the Netherlands’ diplomatic capital, now boasts an array of new facilities and design features; including 306 rooms and suites inspired by the city’s coastline, the ‘Greatroom’ lobby and the Garden Terrace social space.

The Executive Lounge on the ninth floor – home to an all-day cocktail bar – showcases views over the sea and cityscape. The hotel has a lean towards business travellers with flexible and stylish meeting spaces, with the largest accommodating up to 700 people.

The move comes as part of Marriott’s latest marketing campaign, which urges guests to ‘Travel Brilliantly’. The campaign allows mobile check-in/check-out and room-ready alerts as well as a pilot scheme for keyless entry with mobile devices – currently being tested at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel.
