As part of the refurbishment of the wellness area at Vitality Hotel Punta in Mali Lošinj, Bokart collaborated with the designers to create a series of specially designed glass lighting panels – becoming one of the interior’s most striking features…
The authors of this project, Andrija Rusan, Oris Architecture and lighting designer Dean Skira, successfully brought architecture, light and material together into a unified spatial composition. Bokart Glass then carried out the entire production process, transport to the island of Mali Lošinj and installation.
The project also establishes a strong connection with the Mediterranean setting of Mali Lošinj, interpreting sunlight through the colour, transparency and reflection of glass.

Architecture, Material and Light
The glass lighting panels were created as a fully bespoke solution, developed to meet the requirements of the specific location and architectural concept. Instead of conventional walls and opaque partitions, the space features compositions of tall, vertically structured glass elements. Their rhythm creates clear spatial boundaries while preserving a sense of openness and visual continuity.
The glass panels were manufactured in the Bokart factory and remain one of the bespoke projects of which it is especially proud. Their undulating form was achieved using a glass-fusing technique, in which sheet of glass is shaped over a mould at temperatures above 800 degrees Celsius. The warm yellow colour was achieved by applying suitable glass pigments and firing the glass again at high temperatures. This process ensured a stable appearance and a durable surface.

The pronounced vertical structure of the glass refracts and diffuses light, creating a highly dynamic surface that changes depending on the viewing angle, lighting intensity and time of day. The vivid yellow-green shade brings warmth, energy and a distinctive visual identity to the interior, while the integrated lighting transforms each panel into an individual luminous object.
During the day, the glass compositions respond to the natural light entering through the hotel’s large glazed surfaces. In the evening, their character becomes more pronounced: backlighting and linear illumination emphasise the texture of the glass, deepen its colour and create an atmosphere of calm, luxury and subtle theatricality. In this way, the panels function simultaneously as spatial dividers, decorative features and light fixtures.
Their use across the different wellness zones is particularly noteworthy. In the bright entrance area, they create representative visual frames and guide the movement of guests. In the darker sauna and relaxation areas, they act like columns of light, contrasting with dark ceilings, stone surfaces and neutral furnishings. Beside loungers and lounge areas, they provide a sense of privacy without completely enclosing the space.
The production and installation of these elements required precise coordination of dimensions, glass profiles, metal fixings and lighting. Each panel had to be shaped to fit safely between the floor and ceiling while allowing light to pass through and reflect correctly. The visible metal supports were designed discreetly so that they would not compete with the glass, but instead emphasise its lightness and verticality.
The result is an interior with a strong identity, in which lighting is not an added technical element but an integral part of the architecture. The custom-made glass lighting panels at the Wellness Vitality Hotel Punta demonstrate how specially developed glass can simultaneously shape space, guide movement, create privacy and build an emotional experience for the user.
Nearly two decades after its completion, the project remains a relevant example of a thoughtful combination of craftsmanship, architectural vision and contemporary lighting design. Here, glass is not merely a surface finish or decoration; it becomes a carrier of light and one of the key elements of the overall wellness experience.
