From hot new properties in Dubai to cool Art Deco offerings in Copenhagen, this months hotel openings include some bold designs to sweep us into Q4 in style…
The year may be drawing to an end, but hotel openings show no sign of slowing down. Paging through this month’s offerings, it is clear that the hotel design industry remains as eclectic as ever. Excitingly, updates have become as design-driven as new builds, and authenticity and experience remain the buzzwords of the day, as old buildings are reimagined and new buildings appear to be more discrete and sympathetic to the location.
Park Lane Copenhagen
Park Lane Copenhagen, originally a cinema and lately a local hotel, has an intriguing and rich story dating back to the 1920’s. This historic charm of the premises has been carefully preserved in the new transformation, where some original details have been thoughtfully retained.
The reimagined hotel will shelter 69 guestrooms, 48 as standard rooms, 10 executive rooms, five suites, four suite rooms, and two apartments. Prior to its official opening, the hotel has already been accepted into the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World community, and has been designed with both business and leisure guests in mind, which is reflected in the amenities, facilities, and personalised service provided.
Delano Dubai
Conceived by leading design studios Elastic Architects, LaBottega, SA Consultants, and Y Design, the interiors of Delano Dubai have been influenced by the chic, understated styling of the Miami original designed by Philippe Starck. The low-slung exterior is restrained and discrete, marked by verdant manicured topiary that harks back to South Beach’s infamous hedge, while the draping of soft, flowing fabrics creates a veiled arrival, transitioning guests into the textured, sensory world of Delano. The hotel shelters 167 guestrooms and 84 suites, culminating in the extraordinary five-bedroom Penthouse, all designed in Delano’s signature understated style.
Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr
Once a Sultan’s summer residence and later a military hospital, the historic Kasr Al Bahr – palace by the sea – is evolving again, now as a Four Seasons hotel. Spread across five hectares of beautifully landscaped gardens, the fully restored and enhanced property includes six heritage and five new buildings, creating a true oceanfront oasis in the heart of the city.
Accommodations include 200 guestrooms and suites, most with balconies or terraces with ocean or lush garden views. A highlight is the lavish Sultan’s Riad, spread over two floors within a restored 18th-century heritage building with a private infinity-style pool, encompassing close to 1,000 square metres of beautifully appointed rooms accommodating parties of up to six adults and three children in luxurious style.
Viceroy at Ombria Algarve
With far-reaching 360 degree views of rugged Algarve hills and open plains, Viceroy at Ombria Algarve showcases a new destination in the creative heart of the region – a peaceful, cultural and sensitively designed resort just north of Loulé and only 30 minutes from the coast. Embodying a vibrant village, the property shelters 141 rooms including guest rooms, suites and residences all set within 5.2 hectares.
Designed by WATG, Promontorio (Lisbon based architect), and Wimberly Interiors, the architecture and interior design will honour the history and culture of authentic Portuguese style, embracing local craftsmanship and seamlessly blending it with more contemporary accents. Comprising 24 accommodation buildings in total with each one of varying shape and size and with a central tower providing a focal point, the design reflects that of a traditional village. All guest rooms and suites will offer a mix of terraces, pools, balconies or jacuzzis, as well as little kitchens, pantries and dressing spaces.
Nikki beach Dubai
Nikki Beach Dubai has undergone an extensive renovation, and has opened and unveiled its vibrant new look. Nestled on the exclusive Pearl Jumeirah, the property is a stylish oasis that seamlessly combines beachside relaxation, lively music, and fine dining. The recent update, designed by acclaimed Global Interior Design Architect Rémi Viale, features a spacious, air-conditioned restaurant with floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors that connect to the lively beach club. Enhancements include upgraded bars, new murals, and refreshed daybeds, all aimed at providing a more elegant and comfortable experience. The beach club is poised to elevate its dining experience with an expanded restaurant, further transforming Dubai’s beach club cuisine.
Jaz Hotels Zanzibar
Jaz Hotel Group has opened its first hotel opening in Zanzibar, with The Jaz Adonia Hotel being the first of three initial openings in Zanzibar, and the latest addition to the brand’s expansive portfolio across Egypt and Africa. Offering a serene beachfront with the sounds of waves crashing from the Indian Ocean, Jaz Adonia presents guests with stunning ocean views from the resort and convenient access to local attractions. Each of its 182 rooms overlook stunning views of the garden, pool, or ocean, whilst the hotel offers a glimpse into the authentic Zanzibari way of life and the Stone Town’s lively beach culture.
