Luxury hospitality group appoints experienced General Managers to lead 1 Hotel Austin ahead of its opening and guide the next phase of Treehouse Hotel Manchester…
Starwood Hotels has confirmed the appointment of David Duran (pictured, above right) as General Manager of 1 Hotel Austin and Collin Ten Dam (pictured, above left) as General Manager of Treehouse Hotel Manchester.
In a statement, Starwood Hotels CEO Raul Leal said: “Collin and David each bring strong operational expertise, leadership, and hospitality experience that will support our continued growth,” said “Collin brings experience in lifestyle properties and David in luxury hotel operations and openings. Together, they are strong additions to the 1 Hotels and Treehouse Hotels teams, and we look forward to their impact as we elevate the guest experience and expand our portfolio.”
Starwood says Duran will oversee all aspects of hotel operations at 1 Hotel Austin, while advancing the brand’s mission-driven approach to hospitality. With more than 20 years of experience spanning luxury hotel operations and food and beverage leadership, he will play a central role in guiding the property through its pre-opening phase ahead of its August 2026 debut and establishing 1 Hotel Austin as a leading hospitality destination in the city.
Duran joins 1 Hotel Austin following his role as General Manager of Pendry San Diego (Montage International), where he oversaw a 317-key property with six food and beverage outlets and led a team of more than 500 associates. He also supported multiple task force initiatives with Montage International, helping opening teams develop operational processes and brand standards for current and future Pendry properties: experience that will be instrumental as 1 Hotel Austin prepares to welcome its first guests.
Duran said: “What drew me to 1 Hotels is the brand’s ability to create exceptional guest experiences while remaining deeply connected to nature, community, and place. The opportunity to help shape the guest experience at 1 Hotel Austin from day one is incredibly rewarding. I look forward to working alongside the team to create a hotel that reflects the spirit of Austin while delivering the thoughtful service and experiences that define 1 Hotels.”
Ten Dam, meanwhile, brings a well-rounded background in leadership, financial management, and guest experience excellence to Treehouse Hotel Manchester. Starwood says he will play a key role in guiding the hotel’s continued growth, including overseeing the debut of the highly anticipated 14th floor, home to The Nest rooftop bar, Sister Moon, a new rooftop restaurant from Chef Sam Grainger and collaborators Luke Cowdrey and Justin Crawford, and nine premium suites with skyline views.
Opening as part of the final phase of the hotel’s debut, Starwood says these additions will further strengthen Treehouse Hotel Manchester’s position as one of the city’s leading lifestyle destinations. Ten Dam will also help position the property as a distinctive, high-performing presence in the Manchester market while championing sustainability initiatives and responsible operations in line with Starwood Hotels’ broader commitment to positive environmental and social impact.
Ten Dam brings extensive leadership experience from senior roles at Marriott International, most recently as Cluster General Manager for Leeds Marriott Hotel and Delta Hotels York, where he led two flagship properties in the Pennines region, driving guest satisfaction, operational excellence, revenue growth, and strategic initiatives that strengthened market positioning and owner returns.
Ten Dam said: “I’m thrilled to join Treehouse Hotel Manchester at such an exciting time for the property. I look forward to working with the team to build on the hotel’s success as we prepare to unveil new rooftop experiences, including Sister Moon, The Nest, and The Hideout. This next phase represents an exciting opportunity to enhance the guest experience and further establish Treehouse Hotel Manchester as one of the city’s leading lifestyle destinations.”
