The award-winning St Michaels Hotel and Spa in Falmouth has been put up for sale, with offers in excess of £20 million being sought. Located adjacent to Gyllyngvase Beach with views over Falmouth Bay, the hotel is just five minutes from the town centre and moments from the third largest natural harbour in the world.

St Michaels benefits from full planning consent and includes an iconic residential building to be known as ‘The Liner’ with 56 sea facing apartments to include a number of premium penthouse apartments, as well as a new sea facing restaurant and a further 17 apartments within the 4.2 acre site.

St Michaels Hotel and Spa is an award winning hotel that has seen consistent growth and reinvestment during the ownership of Nigel and Julie Carpenter, who have repositioned the business to be one of the best in the county.

Following their acquisition of the adjoining Falmouth Beach Hotel site, they have worked hard to create a scheme which not only takes the hotel to a whole new level of experience for guests and local customers but delivers a balance of hotel, resort and residential living that fully complements the spirit of the sea that the position of the hotel commands.

The hotel is a standalone successful venture which will also reposition 30 lodge style rooms to mirror the deluxe rooms in the main complex. There are also plans for an extended spa, new health club and seafront access as well as a larger function space and four attractive eco spa lodges within the grounds.

Michael Easton, associate director at JLL, said: “St Michaels is a huge success in its own right and has established itself as one of the very best hotels in the South West peninsula.

“The current owners have created a brand that signifies quality relaxed coastal living and have worked hard to create an overall vision for the larger site in years to come, which will provide for first class hotel and conference accommodation, premium residential living and leisure space.

“The position is second to none and, with the sensitive residential development, we have no doubt that this will create huge interest in the market. The award winning team behind St Michaels are very much part of the vision and it will be business as usual whilst we deal with the inward investment needed to take this great hotel into its next transition.

“The opportunity to offer a marketing leading, highly profitable hotel in the South West is rare enough, but one which offers scope to create the next generation of coastal holiday, leisure and residential accommodation is very exciting. We expect global interest.”

Nigel Carpenter, owner of the hotel, said: “This is a very special place and a wonderful opportunity to create a “best in class” spa resort and lifestyle development. It has been a labour of love these past 14 years building an exceptional hotel & spa from the tired, worn-out property I inherited. Our outstanding staff and management team are excited by the future plans.”
