Brooklyn’s largest hotel, the iconic New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge in Downtown Brooklyn, unveils the first chapter of its $43 million renovation and reposition. A dynamic physical redesign combined with authentic Brooklyn experiences will entice guests…starting with their appetites. This month, the hotel celebrates the opening of new chic spaces: The Bar (Greatroom) and exclusive M Club Lounge. At The Bar, a thoughtfully curated menu provides a taste of the borough by showcasing top, local food purveyors and businesses – From Brooklyn Roasting Company to Brooklyn Winery, Ovenly and McClure’s pickles, to name a few.The Bar, located off of the grand entrance, is the hotel’s new social hub featuring a style that embodies local industrial chic reflective of its Downtown Brooklyn neighbourhood. Design details convey an urban edge with glass, metal, subway tiles and white marble tops. A focal point of the room is an eye-catching piece of original metal artwork over the fireplace, in which Brooklyn neighbourhood names appear. Adjacent to the space, a guarded wooden “gate” unlocks exclusive access to the new M Club Lounge, a signature feature of select Marriott Hotels created specifically for frequent Marriott Rewards members. Tableside food service at The Bar offers a laid-back vibe, and a menu that celebrates the borough. Highlights include:

BK Bites: The Bar menu includes House Chips served with a grilled onion Brooklyn Lager dip. For hearty appetites, a Sfoglini Trumpet Pasta dish features oyster mushrooms, roasted fennel and blistered tomato sauce. Sfoglini is a Brooklyn-based producer of small batch, freshly extruded pastas. For guests on the go, The Pantry offers a selection from Ovenly bakery such as Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies, Bacon Roasted Peanuts, Maple Thyme Pecans and Cherry Scones. McClure’s Kettle Cooked Chips in Garlic Dill Pickle and Bloody Mary are also available for a flavourful crunch.

Roasts with richness: The hotel’s coffee selection is by DUMBO-based Roastery and Espresso Lab, Brooklyn Roasting Company. Their fair-trade coffees include Iris Espresso – sweet and spicy, bold and balanced; Peru – embodying a warm baked cookie, and sweet / salty caramel pecan pie crust; and Mexican Chiapas – capturing smokiness, peach, sandal wood, pecan and honey.

Imbibe: The beverage menu at The Pantry features Sixpoint Craft Ales based in Red Hook, Brooklyn Brewery’s Brooklyn Lager, and options from Brooklyn Winery such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Stainless Steel Chardonnay. Additional sips include Olde Brooklyn sodas in Coney Island Cream, Greenpoint Grape and Park Slope Ginger Ale.

“When we first built this hotel 16 years ago, it was the first hotel built in all of Brooklyn in 64 years. Since then, Brooklyn’s further evolution has been extraordinary and amazing. Our goal is to continue to grow: to immerse our guests into that unique and transformative ‘Brooklyn experience.’ The emphasis on local purveyors and unique offerings has elevated the dining scene in Brooklyn, and is another enticing draw for travelers and groups,” says Joshua Muss, Owner of Muss Development and owner of the hotel. “With the completion of phase one of Brooklyn Marriott’s renovation, we have succeeded well beyond what we had hoped! And our hotel remains the hospitality leader – The biggest and best option in Downtown Brooklyn, one of the most exciting destinations in the country.”

In addition to The Bar and M Club Lounge, the hotel’s Front Desk has been reimagined as part of the renovation. From inviting concierge pods that welcome guests, to a large abstract mural based on a photograph of the Brooklyn Bridge, the contemporary look is modern and vibrant. The redesign of the hotel’s ballroom and meeting rooms, one of the city’s largest and most versatile venues, will be completed in September 2015. Renovations of the hotel’s 667 guest rooms will be completed in 2016.

When New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge opened in 1998, it was the first newly built, branded hotel in Brooklyn in more than 60 years. Timeless yet modern, inviting and locally-inspired, the hotel’s new décor will bridge the gap between the past and present. The New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge is located at 333 Adams Street in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn, steps away from MetroTech Center, Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill. New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge is managed by Marriott International and is owned by Muss Development LLC, HomeFed Corporation and Marriott International.
