Marriott certainly has ambitious plans for its brands within South Africa. The acquisition of Protea Hotels in 2014 has secured, at least for now, Marriott as the largest hotel operator in Africa with 38 projected developments within the next five years on the continent across Marriott’s seven brands. The rapidly expanding economic growth in Africa is important to Marriott’s growth strategy, and the development of two new properties in Johannesburg scheduled for February 2018 will accommodate Africa’s growing middle class and youth population with upscale residential living and hotel in one of Africa’s iconic cities.

Located in the Melrose Arch precinct in Johannesburg, the 150-room Johannesburg Marriott Hotel Melrose Arch and 200-unit Marriott Executive Apartments Johannesburg Melrose Arch are part of a mixed-use development owned by The Amdec Group. Two Protea Hotels already feature within the complex: the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel and Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Melrose Arch, and this partnership further strengthens the relationship between Marriott and the Amdec Group.

The Johannesburg Marriott Hotel Melrose Arch will feature the new branding which is currently being rolled out globally and will include a modernisation of the brand’s overall appeal as well as redesigned lobbies and public spaces known as ‘Greatrooms’.

The Marriott Executive Apartments Johannesburg Melrose Arch provide upscale residential living with personalised service and an assurance that the environment has all the comforts of home.
