Upon completion of its $32 million renovation, Davidson Hotels and Resorts unveiled Hotel Zephyr in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf on June 7. Travellers seeking to connect with the city’s cool and laidback vibe will revel in the property’s newest feature: The Yard. This 11,600 square foot outdoor lounge, designed by Dawson Design Associates, features dynamic, interactive elements that encourage guests to embrace their playful side.

“Travellers today are seeking unique experiences, opportunities to genuinely interact and explore, and Hotel Zephyr provides this for our guests,” said Carmen Cruz, general manager. “Our hotel is the only waterfront property in an iconic destination, and by creating The Yard we’re encouraging guests to let loose and have some fun.”

The Yard marries the hotel’s maritime-theme and the playful personality of rowdy sailors with an abundance of larger-than-life-sized games, including Connect-Four, Jenga, tube ping-pong and a tabletop labyrinth maze. For guests looking for relaxation, The Yard offers plenty of places to lay back and kick up their feet.

Unique fire pits and shipping crates overrun with lush plants, and a marina-inspired water feature, invoke the feeling of a garden that has sprung up in the middle of a shipyard. These nostalgic elements drive the energy within this dynamic social hub, providing a picturesque view for guests looking through floor-to-ceiling windowpanes in the lobby.
