The Gleneagles Hotel, Perthshire, is to invest £1.1 million in refurbishing its bedrooms, as part of an ongoing programme of upgrades. In the coming months, 36 of the five star hotel’s 232 bedrooms will be given a new look by designers Greyline, who were responsible for the redesign of an additional 36 rooms, completed in 2014.

The current improvements will include bespoke carpets from Wilton Carpets; a collection of the finest soft furnishings and wall coverings from companies including Osborne & Little and Harlequin, and designer light fittings from Heathfield. In addition, all 36 bedrooms will be upgraded with the installation of new air conditioning systems.

Gavin Liddle of Greyline Designs, commented:
“The main palette for the new bedroom schemes draws once again from the beautiful countryside that surrounds Gleneagles. The beautiful indigenous colours of heather and silvery lichen-greens establish the hotel’s connection to its surroundings, enriched by colours essential to modern interior design such as silver, zinc, ivory and taupe. The bedrooms have a relaxing classic, contemporary feel, with luxurious velvets and textures, rich dark burr woods and opulent lighting. These combine carefully to recall the elegance and glamour of the hotel’s 1920s heritage.

The announcement follows the news that Gleneagles is to launch a new 2,500 square metre conference venue and tennis centre, The Gleneagles Arena, this Spring. It marks the second major project that the resort has undertaken since it hosted The Ryder Cup in September 2014.

The refurbishment project is due for completion by the end of April, in time for the start of the golfing season.
