Construction is underway on a new Indigo hotel in Yangzhou, China. Mott MacDonald is acting as mechanical, electrical and plumbing consultant on the project on behalf of Yangzhou Wansheng Industry.Designed in the style of the Tang dynasty, the hotel will be operated by InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) and provide 122 guest rooms. It will cover a total floor area of 18,000 square metres, split between a 9142 sq m three storey tower and an 8505 sq m basement. Over 70 parking spaces will also be provided on site.
Mott MacDonald’s scope of works includes schematic, preliminary and fitting out design, construction design, shop drawing, equipment and material reviews, providing technical advice during tender negotiations, site quality inspections and defect checking.
Jie Cheng, Mott MacDonald’s project director, said: “IHG are targeting this project for their green standard, so sustainable features such as energy recycling, LED lighting and ground source heat pumps are to be incorporated into the project’s final design.”
The project is due to be completed in the third quarter of 2017.
