A new breed of hotel has landed in New York and Paris: citizenM Times Square and Charles de Gaulle are open! With its first stateside property, the award-winning Dutch hotel group citizenM brings its unique brand of smart, design-savvy hospitality to the heart of New York City. To the city that never sleeps, citizenM New York is here to help! The 230-room property, in the heart of midtown Manhattan, opened its doors in May.

The hotel upends all the Times Square tourist-trap clichés with its stylish fusion of high design, cutting-edge technology and unequalled comfort. The hotel lobby acts as a central hub for guests and locals, with an oversized living room design, soaring 26-foot ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves showcasing an eclectic mix of art and objects from around the world. Official furniture partner Vitra is showcasing its latest collection in all public areas. Like its sister properties, citizenM New York is home to a stunning collection of contemporary art and photography, including two commissioned pieces – a stunning lobby installation by famed English artist Julian Opie and a Jen Liu exterior piece wrapping around the façade of the building — as well as works by Andy Warhol, Daido Moriyama, Florian Süssmayr and David LaChapelle. Another highlight are the digital artwork displays in all rooms created in collaboration with s[edition], which lets guests select from pieces by contemporary artists such as Mark Titchner and Tracey Emin.

Offering welcome refuge from the concrete jungle at its doorstep, the hotel, designed by concrete architects, also includes several stunning outdoor areas, including a ground-floor courtyard with cascading greenery and beautiful lanterns. Two additional outdoor terraces are on the mezzanine level, next to the designated working areas. The gym has an open-air yoga pavilion with views over bustling Manhattan.

Especially beloved is New York’s very first bird hotel built into a bright red tree trunk, assuring that when it comes to citizenM’s funky hospitality, the sky is no limit! The food and beverage offering at 24hour canteenM have been locally sourced from select New York suppliers. Guests can wind down their busy New York days at the swanky rooftop bar, which includes an indoor space with a fireplace and a wrap around outdoor terrace, as well as a cocktail menu curated by well known mixologist Mayur Subbarao.

CitizenM Paris Charles de Gaulle is the seventh property to date and the first in France – conveniently located in the central zone of CDG International Airport and only half an hour from central Paris.

The hotel’s unique six-story design, also by lauded architecture firm concrete, comprises full glass facades, illuminating windows and light-filled communal spaces that form the social heart of the hotel. The property, which is located right next to the famed Concorde, is also outfitted with top-of-the-line Vitra furnishings, art works, and a commissioned art piece by Julien Opie that covers the entire front façade.

The 230 citzenM guest rooms are the apex of stylish comfort, featuring super king-size beds with custom-made mattresses, wall-to-wall windows, Hansgrohe power rain showers and custom bath products designed by Alessandro Gualtieri. In homage to the creative energy of the city around it, the rooms brim with cultural offerings, from in-room music and customizable playlists by 22tracks, a music discovery service curated by top European DJs. And every aspect of this revolutionary luxury can be accessed with the tap of a finger: TV, music, free wireless Internet, window blinds, temperature, ambient mood lighting, digital artwork and alarm themes are all controlled by bespoke tablet MoodPads.
